Chương 3: The First Battle
In a forest with lush flora and faunas, a boy who's wearing a red and black short sleeve sweatshirt stopped along the forest road.
"Huh? Why is it like this?" I had thought that I was in the Sinnoh region since I've only seen generation IV Sinnoh Pokemons around the village, but It seemed that I was incorrect.
As I strolled deeper and deeper into the forest that leads to Silkis Town, I saw caterpies, wurmples, budews… and more. If my memories served me correctly, then the location that I'm at currently hosts all the Pokemon from the first to the fourth generation. There might even be the possibility of having fifth-generation Pokemon.
Confused, I took out the map that my mother gave me and compared the land with the Sinnoh map that I had in my memories.
To my surprise, there wasn't a single match at all. Compared to Sinnoh, the land that I'm on is just a big continent. This is probably why I see many generations of Pokemon taking refuge in the same forest.
"Ahhh!!!!! Help meeeee~!!!!!!!"
Suddenly, I heard a girl's scream coming in front of me.
From the origin of the voice, the bushes rustled as a girl ran out with a panicked face. On her back, a Chimchar held on for dear life.
"What's wrong?" I asked the loud girl who was now hiding behind my back. While asking, I took the chance to check her out. Her hair is a pretty pink color. Her figure? Don't even talk about it. She seems to be 10 years old just like me! What kind of figure could she have? Though, she did look pleasant to the eye.
"I-It's a Scyther!! It just came out of nowhere and attacked Chimchar and me!" The 10-year-old girl said as she trembled. Subconsciously, she also gripped my shoulder.
I wanted to slap her hand away since her long nails were digging into my skin, but my mind stayed clear.
A Scyther? I frowned upon hearing it. Scythers may look harmless in the games and movies, but I didn't think they were harmless in real life. I could even imagine those large blades drawing my blood.
"Mavis, come out!"
"Piplup!" Mavis came out after a flash of red light and stood proudly on the forest road, ready for battle.
Cautiously, I prepared for battle with Mavis. The Scyther has yet to come out, but who knows when it'll suddenly jump out. After all, its hunting style is similar to an assassin. It'll stay in the surroundings and camouflage itself with its green body.
"Stay on guard, Piplup. Scyther might jump out from somewhere. Continue listening with your ears." I commanded.
"Piplup! Pip!" Mavis acknowledged the command and readied himself for battle.
"Sniff. I'm sorry I got you into this. I should've run the other way. Sniff." The girl whimpered and hid her face on my back.
"Shh!" I hushed the girl. Her whimpering was making it hard for me to listen for the Scyther.
Hearing me, the girl became quiet, albeit still whimpering silently.
Rustle~
"Mavis, use Growl on the tree branch to your right!" I said immediately after hearing something move.
"Pip! Plupppp!!!!" With its fast reaction speed, Mavis used Growl on the tree.
After the move landed, the thing behind the tree felt that its attacking scythes' strength had been lowered. Seeing that something was wrong, it left the leaves and jumped towards Mavis. When it came out, I finally confirmed that the girl was telling the truth. It's a Scyther!
"Mavis, dodge and move back!"
"Scyther!" Using its speed along with gravity, Scyther slashed at Mavis.
Luckily, the tree's distance from Mavis is quite far. Along with my prompt command, Mavis quickly moved back and was able to dodge Scyther's attack.
"Scyther, Scyth!" Scyther readied itself for another slash and stared at Mavis.
Seeing this, I knew that it wasn't good. First of all, Mavis is a water-type Pokemon, so he didn't have a type advantage against Scyther. Secondly, Scyther just looks too strong!
My brain churned quickly for ideas. Even as I thought about various ways to defeat Scyther, every scenario that I came up with wouldn't work. Every scenario where I battle alone, that is.
I acted quickly and grabbed the Chimchar from the girl's back and threw it next to Mavis. Didn't I need a type advantage? Don't I have one that's being useless right now? Why not use it?
"Ahh…" Both the girl and Chimchar were shocked. They didn't think that their savior would suddenly include them in the battle. Furthermore, they're going to gang up on one Pokemon. The girl wanted to say something but became silent after realizing that talking wouldn't help in this situation.
Scyther hesitated about running away since it is now two versus one, but it still wondered if it should stay because its opponents didn't look that tough.
"Chimchar, use Leer! Mavis, use growl again!"
Seeing that the situation wasn't that good and its owner wasn't giving any command, Chimchar helplessly listened to me and used Leer on Scyther.
Just as it made up its mind to stay, Scyther felt a wave of weakness overcome him. In addition to feeling its attack strength lowering again, it now also felt its defense weakening.
"Scyther!" Angry that it had been hit by two moves at the same time, Scyther used Fury Cutter and attacked Chimchar. It knew that it had to take out this fire-type Pokemon first.
"Chimchar, dodge! Mavis, use Pound!"
Everyone continued the battle. This time, Chimchar wasn't able to dodge and was hit by Scyther's Fury Cutter and dropped to the ground. In my mind, I imagined that its HP was cut by at least three-fourths. On the bright side, however, Chimchar is still able to battle. If Piplup hadn't used growl several times, Chimchar might've been one-hit KO.
After Scyther finished its attack, it felt happy. Just a few more swipes, and it'll take this battle in the bag.
Then, it suddenly felt an impact.
Mavis succeeded in using Pound and forced Scyther to back off from the wounded Chimchar.
Falling to the ground, Scyther felt shocked. It didn't expect the little bird's attack to hit that hard. Unbeknownst to it, Chimchar's Leer had taken effect.
"Pokeball, go!" I swiftly reached for one of the six free Pokeballs that I've received on my belt and activated it before throwing it at Scyther.
Using my training as a baseball pitcher, the Pokeball flew straight to Scyther's head and absorbed it inside of the ball after a flash of red.

I glanced at the reputation point. I've gained 4 points this time, which was probably from the girl. The amount might be from the level of amazement she felt.
