Chương 10: Magical High
When Lady Ray had mentioned going to the magician department for getting tested, she had never actually mentioned where the department had been stationed. And if she had, Su's memory chose to not retain that information
That was why he had to run after Lady Ray as she disappeared behind another corner and out of his vision.
'Try and keep up. I refuse to slow down for you when I could be doing a million more things' was what Lady Ray had asked of him. Su had not thought much of it at the beginning but now he regretted his short-sightedness.
Su wanted to blame the heeled shoes he had been given for his inability to be able to keep up with the female alpha. They sank in the soft cushiony flooring being used in the castle. But even Su knew that it would be an empty complaint.
So he bit his lip and decided to take the uncomfortable journey behind the female.
He almost wept in joy as the female alpha finally stopped in front of a metallic door and waited for Su to catch up with her.
"Be mindful inside and try not to anger any of them. You won't like the results" Su bit his lip to stop his comeback and felt a metallic taste in his mouth.
He had no intention of angering a magical being who could end him in ways Su could not even imagine. He could have tried his luck when he had the element of surprise on his side but he no longer had that advantage.
Su held his breath as the door opened but the other side looked quite ordinary. It was a disappointing but relief-filled discovery for the omega.
The only difference between this corridor and the last one was the degree of magical saturation inside the hallway. It was dense and was clinging to objects Su was not even aware had been there.
It made him feel faint and high at the same time and an unwilling giggle left Su's mouth. The magic was getting to his head and Su slapped his hand on his mouth to stop the giggles from escaping his mouth.
He did not make it in time before it was out of him. The startled yelp Lady Ray let out on his behalf was amusing to him but it did not make the situation better.
Su tried to control his body but his magic immunity was untrained and far too vulnerable to have made a dent. Maybe the small form approaching them was a magical illusion as well. It would not be the most unexpected thing to happen to him either.
"Lady Nova, how many times would you have to hear it before it takes it to sink in your head - seal the exit to the department when you enter this place. And I see, you even brought a liability here. Shall I end it for you?" The hallucination was getting closer and Su's eyes met those really cute blue ones. Even the anger seemed cute on the pup.
Why his subconsciousness decided to show him a pup while getting high was not something Su was willing to figure out right now. He had a lot of other things to look at.
Like to walla that seemed to be bare but something interesting was going on with them. They had a layer of magic built on top of them which made them glow subtle to Su's eyes.
"I'm sorry Master Nark but we can't allow harm to come to this one. He's the one I told you about" Lady Ray sounded disappointed as evident in her tone and Su had a feeling it was about not being able to harm him.
"Contrary to popular beliefs, I am far smarter than my age and can see what you mean. Did you somehow manage to poison him? I was not aware any Sentients had that kind of flexibility" Su bend back to get the uncomfortable feeling out of his spine. The resulting cracking sound was satisfying to him.
Lady Ray looked alarmed at his behavior but Su found it pretty relaxing. Maybe he was a little higher than he thought. He was not even minding manners now which was concerning.
"It's not me but the magic which is effecting him so. We have observed that this young man has a sensitive palate when it comes to magic" Lady Ray forced those words out. Su wanted to ask her if those words hurt but his attention span was too small to remember it anyway.
The young pup, (even smelled like an unprecedented Alpha) hummed in agreement but looked as if he wanted to end Su's pitiful existence. It was a funny picture for sure.
"I can see that as well. My question is, why did you not give him magic suppressants already? You know the protocol for that better than me" the kid forced out with a glare.
Surprisingly, the lady flinched at those words but somehow gave an impression of having a straight face.
"I guess I would know better than a child" Lady Ray muttered and Su had a feeling he was not supposed to hear those words. But he did and his high self found them to be pretty funny.
His giggles finally brought the other two's attention to him and a pained expression took over the kid's face.
"Is this my punishment? Is the emperor that angry that I called him out on his mistake? How did a sentient, even one sensitive to magic, get this high?" the kid asked with a suffering voice.
He looked disappointed but intrigued as well. Su hoped his neutral scent would help the kid relax around him. He also wanted to scent the kid to feel closer to the pup.
It had been a long time since Su had seen an un-presented pup and his instincts pushed for him to smoother the one in front of him.
"Well, this 'human' will be your responsibility as soon as we get him tested out. His reaction to magic left no doubt about his ability to wield magic" Ray stressed the word 'human' and watched as those small eyes widened.
The kid looked alert all of a sudden and his eyes looked at Su with a new light. Su just smiled all the time, hoping that his easy smile caused the pup to come closer.
"A human? Having this kind of reaction? Is it even possible? Wait, don't answer that to me. I can see the result in front of my eyes. Let's bring him inside and have him tested before we let him out of this daze. We don't know what the medicine would do to a human anyway" the kid turned around and Lady Ray took one of Su's hands in her own.
Su instantly shrugged that hand off of him. The touch of any other alpha except his own felt wrong to him. Su wanted his alpha back and the longing for that left him speechless.
He had survived so many years without his alpha and now even a single touch left him wanting the other.
His hesitation registered in the Lady's eyes as soon as he made the motion and she let go. She did not make another motion to follow and Su did as he had been told.
The room he was led to was even brighter than the corridor and had all kinds of machines Su knew nothing about.
He was led to a small height bed and asked to lay on it. The rest of the test was followed in a blur and Su only came around to the last part when all he had to do was to stare.
Lady Ray and the kid had their face closed off and the recently freshened mind of Su decided to fail him when he tried to figure it all out.
"Are we done?" Su asked once the assistants in the room let him go. His body felt heavy and his energy seemed lost. The omega inside him called for his alpha and then whines as no answer was received from his bond.
It was shut tight from the other side and Su was almost glad for it. He did not want a foreign entity inside his mind.
"Yeah. We're done here. You can relax now and allow one of my assistants to lead you out" Su tried to figure out who the kid meant. (The kid in his imagination had been a kid. Or someone who looked like a kid)
Every figure inside the room except the kid and Lady Ray looked the same. Similar build and same clothes that hid even the most distinguishable feature of those figures circled Su.
Su moved his eyes around and caught a seemingly familiar pair. But they were gone the next second and Su wanted to smack himself for getting distracted. Now was not the time.
Someone moved his bed around and Su lost himself to the gentle motion of the moving bed. The magic was a constant around him but it was soothing to him.
And then his bed jerked with a violent motion and a familiar voice reached Su's ears.
