The MIB headquarters was in New York. It also had branches in other regions, headed by different senior agents. Noah was only a normal agent right now, and his area of responsibility wasn't that large. It was only the Manhattan area of New York.
There were more aliens gathered here because there were interstellar flights operated by the MIB, and every alien who entered the planet normally had to register here.
General interstellar refugees, who wanted to return to their hometowns, wouldn't be too far from the terminal, and when there was no war in their hometowns, they were able to go back at the first opportunity.
Therefore, although Noah was in charge of a small area, his job was very heavy. After all, top agent K was in charge of this area before.
The man looked at Noah carefully. After seeing Noah's outfit, he suddenly realized, "Are you with the MIB? I have a personal matter with Frank. He owes me money!"
"I don't. Eric took your money, and he's been arrested. All of his money is now with the MIB."
"N, you know about that right? He can't kill me on this planet, the MIB has to handle this." Frank stared at Noah with his big doe-g eyes, acting pitiful.
"I'm the one who caught Eric. So, you paid Eric to sneak you off-planet?"
"No, no, it's all a misunderstanding!" The burly man's hands waved around, "I was only joking with Frank. I don't know any Eric. I've never thought about leaving illegally."
"Well, it's best not to mess around on Earth, I'm watching. I took down a Bug, I can take you down too." Noah patted the burly man's shoulder.
"You're the one who killed that Bug?!" The burly man was shocked, "I'm a good citizen, I followed the rules. Well... I still have something to do. I better go..."
The burly man quickly fled. Frank hugged Noah's calf, "N, he's not the only one looking for me. You have to help me. I helped you catch Eric!"
Noah squatted down, "Frank, last time it was your deal with K. And we didn't arrest you because of that. We held our part of the deal. We have no reason to continue helping you, you're not an agent."
Noah could still remember his first time meeting Frank. The pug didn't even show him any respect as an agent, even if he was a newbie at the time.
"N, you got a cat at home, right? Why not get a dog?" J had a mischievous smile on his face.
"I like bigger dogs. I'm not interested in Chihuahuas. Do you want a dog?"
"I don't have enough money for myself. How am I going to take care of a dog?" J glanced at Frank.
'This little runt likes to eavesdrop, I wouldn't have any privacy!'
"I can help you find out about the aliens in the area. The MIB couldn't possibly monitor everyone 24-7. I know everyone! Come on!" Frank quickly said.
"Hey man, I know you're good at ventriloquism, but this isn't Broadway. Hurry up, take the dog home." J saw someone looking at them, and quickly reminded them both aloud.
Noah lifted Frank with one hand and returned to the car.
"So, you're going to be my informant? Do you want to be under witness protection or something? If other aliens know you turn informant, wouldn't they be wary of you?" Noah asked rhetorically.
"I don't need you guys to protect me in the MIB's dorm or something, everyone would instantly know. But I need you guys to protect me when I'm in danger. I know that the new apartment MIB is giving you is being renovated. You're going to move in soon, right? I can go there when I think I'm in danger."
'This dog is smart. No wonder he could become J's partner in the future.' 'However, it doesn't look like their relationship is a good one right now.'
"All right, I agree. But remember, if you know something, you'd better tell me first. If I find out you're hiding anything from me, Eric is going to get a new cellmate."
When Frank left excitedly, J looked at Noah, "N, you got an informant without spending a penny. Genius!"
J use to know a lot of people like that in the NYPD. But those kinds of people would always want something significant in return. The NYPD was able to catch a lot of bad guys because of this, but in turn, they had to give up on a lot too.
"He's the one that came to us. Besides, he's an alien stray dog. Without any cover, he won't last long by himself. Anyway, the diner looks crowded, let's just buy something off the food truck. It looks like hot dogs over there, I'll get you one."
5 minutes later, J took a big bite of his hot dog, "Not bad. By the way, you held the dog just now. Did you wash your hands?"
"No..."
"You ate without washing your hands? They don't have alien rabies or something right?"
"I didn't eat. I ate a lot in the morning. I'm not hungry."
J looked at the hot dog he was holding. He remembered that Frank was on the run for a while, he wouldn't have time to bathe, or even wash himself. J suddenly lost his appetite.
...
Weaver joined the medical department of the MIB. After the head of the department found out that Weaver was good at doing experiments, he let her join a research team.
"Professor Kidd, what kind of research is it?" Weaver looked at the leader of the research team, who was staring into a microscope.
"Gene fusion experiments. We're looking into the genes of aliens. If the research goes well, we could strengthen the agents, and level out the playing field. We could allow the agents to have longer lives, better physical qualities, work for the organization longer, and lessen casualties."
Weaver's eyes lit up, "That sounds interesting! How can I help you?"
Professor Kidd glanced at Weaver, "Then you observe this and compare it against these two to see if the gene fusion worked."
"What we want to improve is the physical quality and longevity, including cellular activity, bone density, muscle density, and many other aspects. We're not trying to create monsters."
"We have to be careful. If we end up making mutated monsters, the whole department might get axed."
"Yes, I understand. What's over there? Can I take a look?"
"Weaver, each experimental project is individually confidential. Don't get too curious. Everything is on a need-to-know basis here."
"Don't ask questions you don't need to. Start working."
A month has passed and Weaver's job has always been to observe and record, yet she doesn't find it boring at all because each time she gets to observe a different gene.
J had also become an official field agent and got his own Series 2 De-Atomizer. It was also the same day Noah moved into his new apartment.
