As Rowan moved through the shadows alone for the first time, he focused all his intention on arriving wherever Alaric was. He shoved aside his doubt over whether he would be able to succeed without Wren by his side. The potential destruction of reality left no room for hesitation.

Wren had gone on his own to retrieve Lysander and Nicasi, and between them, they would have to bring Willow and Kit as well. Rowan was sure Lysander and Alaric would know when to involve the acolytes, but Loma's vision in his garden was very specific that it was the adepts who should be fixing things.

The rift seemed stable when they left it, but who knew for how long. Wren had offered to hide it with one of his illusions, but in the end they left it exposed.
