Chương 13: HOLDING DISAPPOINTMENT

Someone's voice was so loud it was enough to make the old man startled. He immediately glared at his son who was currently in front of him, he saw David who had just snapped at him making the man who knew it immediately looked at him with disappointment.

"What did you just do, David?" he said, shaking his head. "You just snapped at me, your father!"

David who heard it immediately sighed for a moment before finally lowering his head with his eyes closed. He also knew that he was guilty, but if the old man had not provoked his anger, this might not have happened.

"Dad, you'd better go back. I don't want there to be a fight between us like this at the office."

"Still you just snapped at me, David. Why did you do that, huh? Are you defending that poor woman more than I? SAY IT!"

Again, David was annoyed with what someone behind him had just said, making him who knew about it immediately sighed.

"Dad, I beg you to stop immediately. You've said enough, don't go back to making things even tenser."

"Do you want to blame me now? I'm your father, David!"

"How am I supposed to tell you that I'm not in the mood for a fight with you, Dad?"

Not long after, there was a knock on the door that came from outside the room, which made the two men who heard it immediately adjust each other's clothes until one of them spoke.

"Okay, you better go home tonight. Don't go back to the Mansion or I'll kick that woman out of there, you understand?!"

David, who had been lowering his head, immediately looked up at his father's departure with a shake of his head after hearing what the old man had just said before the door finally opened.

Seeing the driver sitting quietly in front of the door with something he was carrying made David, who knew about it, immediately curled the corners of his lips up to form a smile after knowing what he had just seen.

"Sorry, maybe I disturbed Mr. Young."

The driver slightly lowered his head with his hands still carrying something, making David, who knew about it, immediately sighed.

"It's okay, it's me who should be thanking you because you saved my life."

Hearing that made the person in front of him secretly curl the corners of his lips so that at this time he immediately put David's order on the table.

"Here is your order, Mr. Young."

"Thank you very much, Sir." David curled the corners of his lips into a smile while looking at the contents of a bag before finally looking up again at the person in front of him. "Oh, yeah, have you had lunch?"

"I will have lunch later in the office canteen," replied the man in front of him. "Then I'll excuse myself."

David who knew this immediately took a deep breath before finally saying, "Hey, wait a minute. Can't you accompany me here?"

"Sorry, but I don't feel worthy to be here, Mr. Young."

The man sighed for a moment before finally saying, "This is part of my order, so you must obey it," said David to his private driver.

"O-okay," said the man with a slight bow and then said again, "I will accompany Mr. Young."

"Very nice." David smiled.

It was almost night and David was in the elevator. The man felt his phone vibrate, which made him immediately take the thin object out of his pocket.

A smile appeared on the man's face when he found out that it was Jane, his best friend. Without thinking, David immediately answered with a smile that never faded.

"Hello, Jane."

"Hello, David. Why haven't you come back yet?"

"I'm still in the office," David replied smiling. "What is it?"

The atmosphere was suddenly quiet with the man who was currently frowning after knowing there was no response back from the person in front of him so that she who knew about it spoke.

"Nothing, but when you're back, please let me know."

"Hmm, okay," said David with his eyebrows raised and a smile that never faded. "Oh, yes, Jane. I have something to tell you."

"What is it?" she asked. "Tell me quickly."

David who heard that immediately chuckled before finally lowering his head with the same smile before finally saying, "I'm not going back to the Mansion tonight. So you don't have to wait for me, huh," he said with his sweet smile.

"O-oh, I see, yes. All right, that's fine."

Feeling that his words seemed to disappoint the woman, David immediately raised his eyebrows.

"Jane," he called then took a deep breath and then said again, "Are you okay?"

"Y-yes, I'm fine, you don't have to worry."

David who heard it immediately sighed for a moment before finally nodding his head before the man finally said, "Jane, are you okay alone in the Mansion?" he asked with raised eyebrows.

"If you're scared, I won't let the workers go home."

"Hey, don't be like that David. They should rest and go home which is the most comfortable place for them."

"How about you?"

Jane sighed with her eyes closed for a moment before the woman finally pursed the corners of her lips into a smile after hearing what someone who was there just said.

"You never change, David."

"What's wrong with me caring about you?"

"But that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice someone else."

After Jane said that, David finally sighed for a moment before the man finally said. "Then, what should I do?"

"You don't have to do anything, David. I'm fine here, anyway … wasn't it just one night?"

"Yeah, I'll make sure it's only tonight."

Sounds dubious, but Jane still confirmed the words of someone on the other side. The woman smiled before finally letting out a questioning sigh. She covered something tight in her heart, she tried to keep a smile, even though in reality she was a little disappointed.

"Okay, then see you tomorrow David."

"See you later."

***

After that, the phone call had ended with Jane currently looking at some of the dishes for her dinner with David which had been served so much in front of her that the woman sighed. "Who will I have dinner with?" mumbled Jane with that languid face. Then the sound of someone walking made the woman immediately turned around and said, "Auntie!"

The old woman who heard it immediately raised her eyebrows and said, "Yes, Miss. What did you call me for?" she said.

"Has Auntie had dinner?" asked Jane. While the person in front of her at this time curled the corners of her lips in a smile while shaking her head.

Jane who knew this immediately smiled, then said, "Then just eat with me. David is not coming home tonight."

There was silence for a while before Jane finally saw an old woman in front of her nodding her head and smiling.
