Chương 24: The Sealing Room.

Apart from upgrading his armor and making some protective items for Caerbannog, Rob decided to build a new pair of weapons. Although his vibrating sword and revolver had helped him survive all this time, he felt he needed a better pair of weapons. Because of that, he made a pair of sword-and-gun-hybrid weapons. The appearance of his new weapons is similar to what the protagonist of Final Fantasy XII, Lightning, had.

After making the pair of sword-and-gun-hybrid weapons, Rob immediately went to practice using them. He soon realized that using two swords was quite complicated. He wouldn't admit this even though he was threatened with death threats, but he tried to pull out Kirito's dual sword style. Of course, he failed. That dual sword style was ineffective in real life.

However, Rob managed to find a dual sword style that works. Instead of using both swords to attack simultaneously, he used one to parry and the other to counterattack. This sword style worked well in reality and became his go-to style in a close combat scenario.

Besides training with his new pair of weapons, Rob prepared lots of bullets for his weapons in gun mode. Other than that, he made Napalm Bombs from Flamrock that filled the swamp on the third floor. He wrapped the Flamrock in round shells of ordinary stone. That way, he only had to shoot the bombs from afar to ignite them. As for the size of the Napalm Bomb, he made two sizes: the size of a softball and the size of a basketball.

Rob went a bit overboard in making those bombs. He made so many Napalm Bombs that he needed to make a big backpack from the monster's fur and hides since his Item Box couldn't hold them all. At least, Caerbannog seemed to like its new perch above the backpack.

Overall, his preparation took two weeks. However, Rob did not mind the time he spent. After all, next was an unknown area he didn't know for sure.

After packing, Rob brought Caerbannog to the stairs leading to the next floor. Before leaving the third floor, he didn't forget to ignite the Flamrock on that floor. He had said that he would set the whole floor ablaze, so he had to keep his words.

Rob, along with Caerbannog, continued conquering the labyrinth.

Despite not having clear and definite information about the next floors, Rob descended floor after floor, until he had gone another 50 floors past the one that had the Shark. He had lost all sense of time down in the dungeon and had no way of guessing how many days had passed beyond. Though it still took time, it was clear he was progressing through the labyrinth at a ridiculously fast pace.

While progressing, he had countless brushes with death. Every brush with death had triggered his Abyss Break skill automatically. Therefore, Abysslord had appeared time and time again to save our protagonist from certain death.

Even though Rob seemed fine physically after experiencing countless brushes with death, the state of his heart and mind was far from fine. In fact, each time Abysslord came out, he felt a piece of him die gruesomely.

After the umpteenth time his Abyss Break skill was triggered, Rob had gone numb. He became indifferent to his self-respect and pride.

Even though his self-respect and pride were important, his survival was more important. Like it or not, Rob had to thank his Abyss Break skill since it had carried him and Caerbannog to the 53rd floor.

On another note, Rob discovered Caerbannog's true impression of him when his Abyss Break skill was triggered for the first time after leaving the third floor. Caerbannog thought that the Abysslord was his real self, while his real self was nothing but fake.

Therefore, when Abysslord came out, that rabbit was too excited. However, Caerbannog dug its own grave by badmouthing the real him, so when Rob snapped out of the Abyss Break's influence, he immediately committed animal cruelty to vent all his grievances on it.

Rob grabbed Caerbannog's ears and spun that rabbit over his head until it became a blur and looked like a helicopter blade. Rob stopped treating Caerbannog as a stress ball when its ears were torn from its head as a result of being spun like that.

Rob might be annoyed with Caerbannog, but he still cared about his rabbit companion. Therefore, he reconnected its ears with Ambrosia and considered its punishment enough.

Ambrosia may not be able to regrow lost limbs, but it can reconnect body parts. Its potent healing abilities, along with its limitations, made Rob think that it is quite similar to the Phoenix Tears in the Highschool DxD series.

Regardless, Rob and Caerbannog had fought all sorts of unbelievably powerful monsters to gain benefits from consuming their flesh and organs.

Rob and Caerbannog had even fought monsters he remembered from the original story like a huge rainbow-colored frog that could spit poison and a giant moth that, oddly enough, looked a lot like Butterfree in the Pokémon series.

They had encountered the frog on a floor that had a faint poisonous mist spread throughout it, and the moth had the ability to spread its scales through the air. Scales that paralyzed anything they touched.

That floor was really annoying. Even though Rob could hide from the monsters there, the poisonous mist still, sorry for the pun, poisoned him and Caerbannog countless times.

However, Rob didn't need to waste his Ambrosia like Hajime in the original story because he could cure the abnormal status inflicted on him and Caerbannog with his healing and curative spells.

Rob had, of course, eaten both the moth and the frog. There had been some reservation to eating the frog and moth, but he reminded himself it was to make him stronger, which helped him power through those meals. Rob had remembered feeling somewhat vexed when he'd discovered that the frog had actually tasted better than all the other monsters so far.

When he found the taste of the frogs quite delicious, Rob decided to hunt them until they became extinct. He collected the frog's meat, especially the meat on their thighs, and stored it in the Item Box. He had to move a lot of Napalm Bombs from the Item Box to his backpack to make room for the frog meat.

Rob had even gone through a floor that resembles the Amazon Jungle, which he remembered from the original story. As he remembered, it had been incredibly humid and the air hung thick around him. That had been by far the worst floor he had traversed. The monsters he had faced on that floor had been giant centipedes and living trees.

Hardened as he was to most things, even Rob had been completely creeped out when he saw a giant centipede perching on a high tree branch. It was the most disgusting sight he'd ever laid his eyes on.

Fortunately, the giant centipede was not aware of his presence, and Rob didn't waste his chance. He indiscriminately used his Napalm Bombs to exterminate those disgusting monsters.

However, the tree monsters on that floor, which were basically the Treants that normally appeared in RPGs, had left the biggest impression on Rob's mind. Or rather, he remembered their red fruit because they were said to be edible and delicious.

To test the credibility of the fruit's taste, Rob tried eating one. After being convinced that it tasted as sweet and refreshing as a watermelon, he immediately killed all the tree monsters and gathered their fruit.

Other than fighting monsters and gathering materials, Rob also had stayed on a certain floor for a few days to farm. As for his reason to farm, he almost ran out of vegetables in his Item Box. He also had to grow plants that could be used as spices or other necessities such as ingredients for making soap or medicine.

The Farming skill and its many derivative skills helped him in that matter a lot. Unfortunately, he could only grow ordinary plants. He had hoped that he could grow mutated plant monsters, but it looks like he needed the Metamorphosis Magic to modify the plants and create a deadly man-eating plant army.

And that's what happened on his way to the 53rd floor. For the record, Rob's current status looked like this;

[ Rob Freeman - Age: 29 - Male - Level: 33

Job: Abyss Lord

Strength: 950

Defense: 900

Vitality: 1050

Agility: 1550

Magic: 1100

Magic Defense: 1100

[+Reattach (New!)] - Language Comprehension ]

About the new skills that Rob had gained, let's start with the latest addition to derivative skills of Transmute, Duplicate Transmutation. Rob got it from duplicating lots of bullets for his gun-swords.

Next, Petrification Curse had disappeared and became a derivative skill of its replacement, a skill called Negative Status Bestowal. The other derivative skills were things he got after eating other monsters.

The same thing happened to Petrification Resistance, which had become a derivative skill of its replacement, Negative Status Resistance, as was the other derivative skills of the Negative Status Resistance

Magic Vision was a skill that allowed him to see the colors and the flow of magic power which were usually invisible to the naked eye. This skill was quite useful because all the skills, without exception, consumed magic power to activate, so he could foresee and react accordingly when monsters tried to use their skills.

Regeneration was a skill that gave him the ability to heal from an injury, but the more severe the injury, the more magic power was required to fix it. As such, consuming Ambrosia was still quicker, more efficient, and more convenient.

Meanwhile, the derivative skill called Reattach allowed him to reattach the dislodged part of his body. That and the Regeneration skill were very useful as they could save Ambrosia usage.

Even though Rob had killed many monsters and eaten their flesh and organs, the skills he got were not as many as the number of monsters he had killed. This was because many monsters had the same unique skills despite their different forms and habits.

On another note, Caerbannog also had countless brushes with death. However, it managed to overcome all the difficulties it faced and become stronger.

The current Caerbannog couldn't be compared to when it had just followed Rob. If the current Caerbannog fought the Bear on the first floor, it would bully the Bear to death.

Caerbannog also gained a lot of skills after consuming the flesh and organs of other monsters. Besides, Rob found that Caerbannog's chances of acquiring new skills were higher if it consumed a monster's Magic Stone that was crushed and then mixed with Ambrosia.

Magic Stone is a byproduct of a monster's metamorphosis when animals become monsters. It's the source of their magic power, and therefore, information about the unique skills possessed by them is imprinted there.

Even though Caerbannog got a lot of skills, that didn't mean it had gotten even the skills that don't fit its build. For example, eating the flesh and organs of the frog mentioned above only gave it Poison Resistance. It didn't get the skill to produce poison like what Rob had gained.

Regardless, Rob and Caerbannog finally arrived at the 53rd floor. This floor was quite significant because it was the floor where Aletia was confined by her uncle three hundred years ago.

Arriving on the 53rd floor, Rob immediately built his base. Having finished renovating the interior of the base, Rob brought Caerbannog along to explore the floor to find the stairs to the next floor and the room where Aletia was locked up.

Rob discovered the stairs first. After that, he continued exploring until he discovered the sealing room of the vampire princess. And currently, he and Caerbannog were standing in front of the massive double doors of the sealing room.
