All the students at the school were wearing black uniforms: The boys wore a regular black Japanese school uniform, and the girls wore a button up short sleeve shirt, a thigh high black shirt, white socks, and white shoes.
Duri and Marshy walked forward, 70% of the students out there were looking at them, and said to each other:
"There's Marshy..!"
"Yeah, I heard they were doubling up on hosts watching over the school's this year since there's been a lot of fights and near death experiences…"
"Marshy is so strong...and her scythe Excalibur is strong too!"
"She's so lucky!"
"That boy beside her, is that her son?"
"Marshy has a man to give her kids?!!?!?!??"
"Ew, look at that mark on that boy's face."
"It looks like a paw print."
Standing off to the side, watching Duri and Marshy walk boy, were two girls.
Their names were Seven and Nine.
Seven had wavy long and silky dark brown hair, brownish yellow eyes, and tattoos on her neck. Yeah, she was amongst the prettiest girls in the entire school. The reason why she had tattoos is because of her power, which gave her tattoos when she was born. She was 16 years old. The tattoos were angels wings, mixed in with fire. Seven was a tomboy also, and she always wore the school uniform jackets. She never took it off unless she was at home or alone.
Nine, Seven's best friend, had blondish peach white hair in a bushy ponytail, and had two hair bands in front of her face. She had red eyes, and dimples. She was a tomboy also. She was 16 years old as well.
Nine caught Seven staring at Duri, and she said, "Staring pretty damn hard, huh?"
Seven replied, "You've noticed?"
"Pretty obvious, dude."
"I'm not staring at him, Nine. Don't you have people to beat the hell up?"
"Trust me, Seven. I got an entire hit-list of the people I wanna beat the hell out of."
"Damn right."
"So, you ready to take the exams in 3 days?"
"Hell no. You? WAIT. I don't even know why I asked."
"Exaaaactly. You know me too well."
Seven looked back at Duri, and said to Nine, "That boy is interesting though. I just can't wait for the rumors to spread."
"Damn, that's cold."
"What? You're worse than me, bro."
"You're right. Let's go to homeroom."
Surrounding Seven and Nine, multiple boys were coming up to them, saying:
"Seven...do you like me?"
"Seven, can we date please!"
"Seven! I left letters near your locker, please read them!"
"Nine, I would love for you to step on me! Beat the hell outta me!"
Seven and Nine looked at each other, then looked back at the boys.
Seven said, "I've seen the letters outside my locker. The letters made good toilet paper. You all look like lost puppies, I keep telling all of you that I'm not looking for anyone to date, and you keep harassing me like I'm some sort of celebrity. Next time this happens, me and Nine are gonna curbstomp you all. Okay?"
Seven and Nine started to walk away, and the boys started to gush over them even more.
"I love when she's mean!"
"They're so badass!"
"Step on me!"
"I'll be your servant for the whole day!"
Nine said to Seven, "You love it when they fawn over you, huh?"
"Hell no. I just like the chase. I'm not an arrogant shit though."
"I am. I know I'm great, I'll let everyone know it."
"Of course you would."
Walking to the entrance of the school, Duri and Marshy still paced there.
Duri asked Marshy, "Why the hell are they staring at us? Is it because of my birthmark? I'll show them how aggressive I can be-."
"-Usually it's just because of me, people think I'm their damn savior or something."
"That's because you're really strong!"
"Yeah I am pretty damn strong. And drop the cute boy act, Duri. You've changed over the years, why are you acting differently now?"
Duri smirked, "Damn, you caught me. Always perceptive, Marshy."
"Your baby act was cute when you were younger, but now you're 15. Just be yourself."
"Yeah yeah, I know. When I read some manga though, usually the nice but strong protagonist gets loved by everyone or gets a harem of some sort."
"Yeah that's how it usually goes, but not for you. Being yourself will get people to like you, Duri."
"And if they don't like it, I'll just fight em'."
"Fighting is 80% the answer, Duri. But at school, you have to definitely refrain from fighting, unless you are threatened or attacked."
"The hosts said I couldn't get in trouble here, huh?"
"That's anywhere, Duri. Just please be on your best behavior."
"I'll fucking try. It's just a bunch of weaklings around me."
"Watch your language."
"My bad, my bad. Well, this school is pretty big. I'm not a fan of the whole staring thing either."
"You have a birthmark on your face the size of a bunnies paw print. I'd stare at you too."
"Thanks for the encouragement. I'm being sarcastic by the way."
"Oh that means ALOT coming for you, ya little brat."
"Brat? Remember, I SAVED you from CONANNNN."
"That was like 9 years ago! And everyone says women bring up old shit."
Duri and Marshy walked into the entrance, and there were lockers in front of them, and tons of students walking around talking, or on their phones on the Bloggerz app.
The Bloggerz app and the power tournaments became even more popular, more than it has ever been. Now it has 3 billion monthly users, and it's used by millions of celebrities and world leaders, to post their daily lives, pictures of themselves with captions to get a bunch of likes, sharing videos of the tournaments, and much more.
Duri asked Marshy, "So...I'll put my stuff in one of these lockers then?"
"You have to go to the office first and talk to the headmaster of ths school to get an assigned locker. Then you'll go to the homeroom after."
"Great. Definitely looking forward to it. Not really."
Stepping in front of Duri and Marshy, was a man who was smoking a cigarette, had black short hair, red eyes, and pale skin. His name was Xenon, and he was a host, just like Marshy.
Xenon asked Marshy, "Who's the kid, Mark?"
"My name isn't Mark, get it right, Xenon. And you know you're not supposed to be smoking here."
"Ha? I'm so scared, someone help me. Gimme a break, I don't even wanna be here."
"Yeah, cause you're lazy as shit."
"Good point."
Duri stepped up to Xenon, put his finger on his chest, and asked Xenon, "Who the hell are you? You walked up on us like you wanted to fight or something? Do we have an issue?"
"Mm. Stubborn, relentless, immense power...but an idiot for stepping towards me."
"Ha??? You came at us first, idiot."
Xenon grabbed Duri by the throat, barely touching him, but Duri felt so much power and pressure from Xenon, Duri struggled to breath.
Xenon took another huff of his cigarette, and continued, "Still wanna fight?"
Duri thought, 'This dude's power pressure is intense, I can barely even breathe! It's like Marshy's, but more fierce..'
Duri said to Xenon, "Haha, hell yeah I still wanna fight."
Xenon stared at Duri, and laughed.
Xenon let Duri go, and chuckled, "Haha, this one's interesting, Marshy. Oi, lemme take him out onna mission, I'll turn him into a real fucking man."
Marshy replied, "Uh, no thanks. Duri isn't some tool."
Duri interrupted, "Well, I kinda am, since..ya know..that bastard Zabel wants my power for a ritual."
Marshy responds, "You had to say something."
Xenon says, "Yeah, we know about that. Word of advice, brat, don't bring this up to anyone at this damn school."
Duri folded his arms, "Tch. Fine. It would've made me even cooler or popular, but fine. Whatever."
Xenon looked at Marshy, "I'm late too. We can walk together to the new Headmaster's office."
"New headmaster?"
"Zeriah is missing."
"Since when?"
Seconds later, Marshy, Duri, and Xenom were walking down the hallways of the school, walking past classrooms, teachers, and life students laughing and talking with one another.
Xenon said to Marshy, "Zeriah has been missing for a few days actually."
"And...none of you even bothered to tell me about this because..?"
"We did."
"When?!"
"You said you didn't care."
"...I did not-....ohhh, yeah. Damn. I thought you were lying because you always joke around with certain things. Anyway, do we have any leads?"
"He was last seen at his house. Neighbors said they heard him yelling about his wife. And the wife is missing too. That's all we got.
"Shit. I think I know what this is.."
Duri asked, "So who the heck is the new headmaster?"
"Raijin. Raijin Takahashi. He'll be subbing in until Zeriah comes back."
As Marshy and Xenon continued to talk, a boy came up beside Duri all excited, saying, "That's a cool tattoo on your face!"
Duri looked at him, "Watch where the hell you're going. And it's not a tattoo, it's a birthmark."
"Cool! My name is Kazuma! Wanna be friends?!"
Kazuma had red wavy spiky hair with a red headband on, orange eyes, and a red tattoo on his neck in the shape of a heart.
"Friends? With you? No thanks."
"Aww, why? I'm strong too!"
"Ho? You can tell I'm pretty strong, huh?"
"Yes!"
"What's your power level?"
"70,000!"
"Damn..that's actually not bad."
"What's yours?!" The boy asked with a smile.
"Mine is unknown, actually."
"Like the Titans or the Shadow people?"
"You know about the Shadows?"
"Oh yeah! Everyone does! Rumor has it though, that they've been wiped out completely! Extinct!"
"I know. What the hell else have you heard about them?"
"They were strong in numbers, and their strongest Shadow was a man named Hakuna, he was one of the 12 leaders of the 12 strongest clan armies for the Shadow race."
"Hakuna...never heard of him."
"So which one are you? Oooo, are you a Titan?"
"I'm a Shadow. Human and Shadow actually."
"Really?! No wonder I'm sensing so much power from you!"
"No autographs please, I'm not doing any today. Maybe tomorrow or something."
"Are you new to this school?"
"Yep. Going to the headmaster's office to get my shit right now."
"Do you think you're the strongest fighter?"
"I'm not the strongest, but I will be."
"Have you ever killed anyone? What are your parents like? Are you going to the exams to register to compete in the power tournaments?!"
"Dude! Shut it with all those damn questions. One question at a time, please."
"I'm so so so sorry!"
"....You're taking the exams in three days too?"
"Yes! I wanna win 10,000 of them, and gain more powers."
"That's it?"
"And to help my family. I'm the only one in my family who has the strongest powers. Everyone else is kind of weak, not to be mean or anything."
"Sounded kinda mean, not gonna lie."
"Haha! No, no. Anyway, you'd like this school. I hope we have the same classes! See ya!"
Kazuma grinned, and jogged off somewhere.
Duri thinks, 'Poor kid.'
Duri, Marshy, and Xenon turned the corner, and another boy bumped into Duri.
The boy had grey and black hair, and red eyes. His name was Tekeshi, but everyone called him, "Tek."
Duri and Tek looked at each other, and Tek said, "Watch it, kid."
Duri answered, "You better watch where you're going.."
"Whatever…stay outta my way."
"Stay outta mine.."
Duri turned back around, and he, Marshy, and Xenon walked up a series of steps, and made it to the headmasters office.
The doors were doubled with a brown maple exterior, and the top of it was a little cylinder like. On the top of it, it said, "Office of the Headmaster."
Duri turned around behind him, and saw students looking at him, whispering about him, and some even recording him.
The whispers of the students went like:
"Everyone is saying he's a Shadow-human hybrid, is that true?!"
"Yes! Kazuma said this kid's power level was unknown!"
"Look, we all know better than to trust that kid Kazuma."
"He may actually be right this time."
"A real Shadow human hybrid, here, at this school!"
"He's adorable though with a baby face, despite having that birthmark on him."
Duri turned to say something mean, but Marshy stopped him, grabbing his arm.
"Don't be foolish, Duri. Or do you want me to pull your little brat ears?"
"No, don't. That shit hurts."
Duri turned to look at everyone else again, and he saw Seven and Nine standing together, almost walking into their classroom.
Duri and Seven saw each other, and Seven smirked, walking into the classroom with Nine.
Duri thought, 'The hell's her problem? This school is giving me some weird vibes. Everyone is so perky, and the amount of strength I sense from them is pretty crazy. Well, it beats what happened last night. I was in a weird place, a little less weird than this. Yeah, I beat the hell outta some people…'
[FLASHBACK]
[Last night]
[Club Glitter]
The club was live, people were partying hard and dancing as the upbeat music played and the colorful lights flickered intensely.
In the back room, Duri was on his knees, face bruised up, and he was grinning and chuckling. Surrounding him were men in suits wearing kitsune fox masks.
Duri said, "Damn, you idiots sure do know how to punch."
One of the masked men said, "You were dumb to interrupt our jobs!"
"Beating women is a job to you? Haha...don't make me laugh."
"When the girls disobey, they need a beating."
"I mean, how are the girls gonna sell if they're beat the hell up? Dumbasses."
There were a couple of women in the corner, and they were beaten and bloody too, shaking with tear stains and mascara on their face.
"You talk tough! But look at you!"
"I'm...holding back."
"Lies. Holding back for what?"
"Too many innocent bastards in here. If I really fight, I could level this entire club and block."
"You're bluffing...do you wanna die here?!"
Duri stood up all the way, stretching his arms and legs. Duri wiped blood off his mouth, he put his fist on his own chest, and grinned, "I should be asking you that."
"....KILL HIM!"
All of the masked men charged at Duri again. Without turning around, Duri slammed his fist back, and he hit the wall behind him, blasting a big hole in it.
Duri jumped through the hole, and he was at the back of the club.
The masked men jumped outside with Duri, and Duri laughed, "HAHA! WOW! YOU IDIOTS REALLY ARE DUMB!"
Above the masked men, Marshy fell in, and stomped on the ground between all of the masked men.
The ground shook, and the enemies spreaded out in the air, yelling.
Duri said, "Fighting without causing havoc is hard."
Duri jumped up to all of the rising masked men, and he was dashing through the air and punching and kicking every last one of them.
In the blink of an eye, he would punch or spin kick a different target with a grin on his face.
Duri landed on the ground, and behind him, more masked men ran at him, yelling:
"Kill him! Kill him and that dumb host!"
Duri replied, "Nuh uh, you don't talk to Marshy like that ya dumbasses."
Duri turned around, allowing wind and black shadow energy to gather around his fist, and he punched the air in front of the incoming enemies, a loud shockwave blasted out, and they all blasted through a construction building.
Marshy walked beside Duri, and said, "Seems like you're controlling the shadow energy better."
"Yeah, yeah."
"Wanna explain why you're bruised up?"
"I was holding back because of the females. You know I really wouldn't let some dumbasses beat me like this."
"Good boy."
"I'm not a dog."
"I know that, brat."
"Alright, let's leave and let the cops deal with this. This place is weird."
[FLASHBACK END]
[PRESENT DAY]
[HEADMASTERS OFFICE]
Xenon opened the door to the office, and the new Headmaster, Raijin Takahashi, was sitting at his desk, reading over a newspaper. He had long white hair, a white beard, blue eyes, and square glasses.
He looked up, and said, "Ah! Come in."
He stood up, and stuck his hand out to shake Duri's hand.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Duri."
Duri looked at Raijin's hand, then looked at his eyes.
"I don't know why, but I don't like you."
Marshy bumped Duri hard, and Duri put on a fake smile, "Er, I mean, it's a pleasure to meet you too."
Duri shook Raijin's hand, and Raijin instructed Duri, "Pleasure is all mine, please have a seat."
Duri started walking to the chair in front of Raijin's desk, and he sat down.
Marshy and Xenon stood off to the side.
Raijin continued, "I'll cut right to the chase, we've seen how your grades were when you were homeschooled. You seem to be extra smart, Duri!"
"Yeah what, what the hell can I tell ya?"
In a split second, Marshy smacked the back of Duri's head, then went back to stand beside Xenon.
Xenon asked Marshy, "He's scared of you, isn't he?"
"Hell no. He just knows he can't beat me...yet."
"Yet?"
"I'm still training him, he's mastered a little bit of his shadow powers, but it's kind of a struggle."
"Damn. Who cares?"
"You, since you asked. Dummy."
Raijin said to Duri, "I'm pretty sure you already know not to cause trouble here. No fighting, no using your powers unless instructed to appropriately, no killing, no skipping, no using your phone in class, and no doing lewd things on school grounds."
"That just sounds like a bunch of MADNESS. Like, can't we have a little bit of freedom?"
"I wish too, but these are the rules set by the elders of this school a long time ago. And plus, with the way things are heating up now, we can't slack off."
"Yeah whatever."
"Now, I'm pretty sure Xenon has told you this already, but don't let anyone know about your situation with Zabel, or what he wants to use you for, understand?"
"Why not?"
"You can't trust anyone nowadays. Just know that."
"Mmm."
"Are you signing up to take the exams in 3 days?"
"Yeah."
"We have two spots left. You're lucky. We can't have too many people there. I signed you in."
"Thank you."
"Also, your locker number will be code 7A9, and your homeroom will be classroom 8B. You are dismissed."
"Damn, if it was gonna be this short I didn't even need to sit down. But uh, thanks I guess."
"And good luck to you in the exams and the school year, Duri."
"Yeah.."
Duri looked at Marshy, and Marshy walked up to him.
Marshy patted Duri on the head, and said, "I'm gonna cry, Duri."
"Oh no, don't embarrass me, Marshy."
"Yeah I am."
Marshy hugged Duri, and Duri hugged her back.
Marshy continued, "Remember-."
"DON'T get in trouble, I got it."
"Have fun ya little shit."
"Mhmm."
Minutes later, Duri was walking down the hallways, looking at each classroom door as the other students were looking for their classrooms too.
"8B...8B...8B.." Duri mumbled to himself.
He finally found the room, and he walked into it.
As soon as he walked in, he saw a bunch of students sitting at the desks. And among his classmates were Seven, Nine, Tek, and Kazuma.
Everyone looked at him, and Duri clenched his fists.
