Chương 11: Dominic Knight
After the initial blow from our investigation gone awry, the three of us were calming ourselves down with some pizza. Diana would occasionally look at the screen where the image of the wrecker of our investigation was still on display. His confident smile felt like he was mocking us.
"So, what now? What's our next plan of action?"
"We have to find out who Dominic plans to collaborate with and change our target accordingly."
Diana leaned forward in interest.
"Yes, now that you mention it…Dominic could have communicated with the other mafia gangs as well. Do you think he has received proposals from the others too?"
"As a businessman, I expect he would look for the most profitable collab. But if he seeks to make an alliance with Victor Lansky only, then we have to change our target altogether."
The tricky part however was finding out who he will incline towards. It was vexing that he has the power to change entire course of events.
"How will we find that out?"
"There is a chance, IF I can hack into their server for the information. But if they are not that stupid to store it like that, they would keep it in a remote device. If none of these options work out, we have to wait and watch until he announces his decision."
"We will lose a lot of time if we wait for his announcement. Besides Gabriel is facing pressure from the superiors for the gang related murders happening on the street,right? So let's go with the hacking option. Nate, if you don't find the information on the servers…"
"Then I would have to find out the remote device and you both will have to sneak into the knight's property personally and steal it."
Diana and I exchanged glances. Involving directly brings a lot of complications and risks. I was hoping that it wouldn't go that far. But with powerful people involved, there have always been many of those dreaded scenarios brought to reality.

Meanwhile at Victor's mansion, the terms and conditions of a possible alliance were being discussed.
There was a huge central chandelier lighting up the carpeted floor with two extravagant sofas covered with synthetic magenta cushions set on opposite sides.
Dominic and Victor sit facing each other. The Underboss Andrew is seated beside Victor while the associates, Jonathan and Mathew are seated beside Dominic.
Cross legged and fingers intertwined, Dominic Knight holds a grand demeanour with his smile but the air is quite tense. There is a tinge of hostility mixed in the staring battle between Dominic and Victor.
The underboss, Andrew reads the terms of their side. He states the requirement of a number of different ammunitions and legalised transportations as the first and second point.
"...the third point: Supply of parts for 100 amphibious rifles within this year"
Jonathan and Mathew raised their heads from the agreement papers on hearing the final part. Clad in white suits, the two of them had come as direct assistants with Dominic to discuss on the agreement. Dominic raised an eyebrow.
"Amphibious rifle?"
"Yes,the newly invented rifle that can shoot both in air and water. You received the blueprints for it two months ago, Mr. Dominic."
"I am not denying that. But for the process to get from blueprints to parts takes time and to actually begin mass production, it will take another year. But, that aside…Let's say I can push the production and get them at a quicker pace. What are you willing to give in return for those parts? The payment you have quoted will fill up for only the first and second conditions. The third condition will require a separate payment."
"We have many assets in Watford."
Dominic broke into laughter.
"Assets? You will need to give me the entire Watford if you wish to pay for those parts Mr.Victor. No one else has the blueprint in the market."
Victor glowered at Dominic who didn't seem to care about the reaction.
"If you cannot give the payment, there will be no alliance Mr.Victor. I don't think we need to state the terms of our side.."
Dominic stopped abruptly and glanced sideways, his lips curved downwards and his eyes went cold. The others turned to see one of the prostitutes strutting towards him, with her dress showing cleavage upto her chest. Victor used the chance to appease Dominic.
"We could give you a huge supply of such beauties if you agree for an adjustment on the payment."
Prompted by the situation, the woman reached out to touch Dominic's chest triggering something within him.
"You remind me so much of that bitch" he growled in low voice.
Mathew sensed the anger laced in his voice and immediately placed his gun on the woman's head. Dominic's bodyguards proceeded to point a gun as well, but Victor stopped his own men.
The woman frightfully looked at Victor who furiously beckoned her to leave, upon which she scurried away. The atmosphere became heavy. Victor scoffed and tilted his head in contempt.
"I apologise Mr.Dominic. If I knew you swung that way…"
"Oh I assure you, I am perfectly straight"
Dominic's business smile returned to his face.
"But I know people who can get you fucked over and over again until you can never stand back up."
Mathew snickered and Victor gritted his teeth indignantly.
"Is that a threat?"
Dominic stood up and buttoned up his suit.
"We can talk further when you have a proper payable amount on your hands, Mr.Victor."

The next day, Dominic ran a solemn meeting in his office on the sales reports and monthly progress.
His office is no less than a luxury hotel with black granite floors and a long glass table lit up by elegant stripe lights on the ceiling. There was a separate area for Dominic to work on the other side of the room with a desk and laptop. When the directors left, Jonathan burst into his office with urgency.
"What is it, Jona?" Dominic asked amused and moved back to his desk.
"Really Dom!? You are really carefree after literally threatening the boss of a gang…This!"
Jonathan slammed a paper on the table but after reading it, Dominic simply smirked.
"Victor Lansky sends a warning to agree to the alliance proposal if I wish to continue living?…what a meaningless threat from a fool."
Mathew entered the room as well. Unlike the agitated Jonathan, Mathew was calm and collected on reading the warning but still expressed his concern.
"Dom, if he sends a warning, it means he has got something to use against you."
"Exactly and you should have considered that before threatening him!"
"Jona, calm down…for now, double the security and activate the new security system."
"But the new security system is only a prototype, using it with the current security system could be perilous."
"My design and trust on my systems were never misplaced till now, Mathew. Besides, I hold direct control of the new system. But,Victor Lansky dared to challenge us so we cannot underestimate an opponent who is ready for a confrontation. The two of you, be careful and stay vigilant. Keep your eyes open for any movement from their side. For now, show him a positive reaction from our side that we are going to approve the alliance and once I find the way to shut him down, it will be Checkmate."
