I'm not sure how long we stayed out there. Ivan wanted to show me everything that would someday be our home. I wasn't lying when I told him I loved it. It was perfect, and I could already imagine living out here.
You could really see everything. The city below us, mountains. Beyond the trees, the horizon and the hum of magic vibrated with colors in the distance. We were surrounded by it, from the mountains to the place Ivan called the garden of the gods.
Granted, it was pretty isolated, but it didn't feel that way. Of course, Ivan wanted privacy, but I knew he'd get little of it. We were going to have people here all the time, and I know he'd never admit it, but he'd enjoy it.
Ricky's family owned over two hundred acres of land in Sidney, Texas, but it wasn't as breathtaking as any of this.
There was only one problem. I kept getting a strange feeling from this place. Not a bad one, just odd.
