Chương 40: CHAPTER 39: Heartbeat.

It didn't take ling for him to reach the dead forest like this. Tough there were some demons that couldn't help but look up at the pure white creature flying over.

Soon he found himself in between the murmuring threes again with Amanda and Spot to greet him. The first thing Sirin did once he got home was to give the blue daisy to Amanda.

Spot still didn't quite like him of course. Other than keeping him alive, Sirin hadn't done much to bond with the animal. Though the coyote did feel some sense of loyalty to the demon which was probably only because he belonged to Sirin.

Spot did have a good relationship with Amanda tough, despite her being not as interactive as Sirin.

As Sirin spent some time around Amanda, he couldn't help but notice how she was a lot quieter than usual. At first, he thought that it was something he did. However, then he noticed how she didn't seem mad, but worried. Sirin though that he had long since proven that he was more than capable of venting for himself. So, she couldn't be worrying about him, right?

He pondered on this for quite a while. He was scared that asking it would make him seem oblivious, especially if he had guessed the emotion wrong. Yet at the same time he wanted to be sure if it were something that he could help her with.

"Alright what is it?" He eventually asked.

"What do you mean?" Amanda asked in response.

Sirin flung his tail from side to side while he looked up at her from his position om one of the boulders around the cave.

"You're worrying about something, right?"

She sighed. "It's nothing much, really."

"Then if it is nothing much, then there definitely is something."

Amanda hesitated for a moment, then she finally answered. "A few hours before you came… I think I felt a heartbeat coming from my child."

Sirin immediately understood the source of her worries. The child wasn't directly cursed but came here via his mother. So, with this second-hand curse, it might be the case that this child would be freed after a certain period of time.

And despite the way it might look, this was not a good thing. Even if the baby could stand the heat and thick air, there wasn't anything that it could eat. Mammalian demons, or rather demons that resembled mammals since demons didn't come from the living world and had thus a completely different evolutionary timeline, were rare.

And even if he could find milk for the baby somewhere, be it from a demon or from one of the monsters wandering through hell. The child might not be able to drink it since most parts of hell born creatures weren't safe for mortals to consume in the first place.

Bringing the child directly to one of the living worlds was also not an option. Sirin wasn't sure what traveling between worlds would do with a human this young. And this was all in the case that the child would be free from his curse instantly. For example, if the kid got cured from the inside out then it wouldn't be able to move until he was completely free and it would make breathing extremely hard, if not impossible.

Usually, Sirin wouldn't care about a single human child. Much less worry about its survival, considering how he killed one of his own siblings the moment he hatched. But this was the offspring of one of the few creatures that he had at least an ounce of respect for. Even if he didn't really care about the small creature, he would do it for her.

According from what he had heard from her. The offspring of a human was in their eyes often more valuable than themselves. he couldn't forgive himself if Amanda lost that because he didn't grow strong fast enough.

"As there been anything else? Like the child moving in any way?" Now that he knew about the condition of the child, he couldn't help but notice how the small glimmer of light had grown a little. If this continued and the child formed a complete soul, it might even attract other demons.

"No, not yet."

Sirin nearly jumped up. "Then there is still some time!"

Despite Sirin's newly lifted spirit, Amanda didn't share this new hope. "I'm sorry, but I don't know how fast this is going to progress. I don't want you to blame it on yourself if you don't make it."

She was right, they had no idea how this was going to play out. But Sirin no longer needed to rival the demon lord that cursed them to free them. With the system he could surely create something that could break them both free and escort them to the living worlds without any consequences. The only thing was that he needed more magic for that than when he created a flower. Meaning that he needed an enormous number of souls to raise his magic.

Because of this he didn't stay in hell for as long as he would have liked. But he didn't want to waste any time.

Without really explaining to Amanda what he was planning to do he already left for one of the living worlds. No matter what kind of interesting things he might encounter, he couldn't get too distracted like all the last time. He needed to harvest as many souls as possible, no matter the cost.
