Chương 39: CHAPTER 38: Followed.

Sirin stayed in this word for a few more weeks, all the wile collecting souls in the form of spirits.

Eventually he could feel how the world was once again trying to punch him out, he had been here for too long. This wasn't the only sign that he should leave, every now and then he had seen some of the humans that were now hunting him come dangerously close.

He could easily take them one on one, but in a group, they were kind of a bother. Not that, that really mattered, he could slip away whenever he wanted leaving them searching for a few more days until they picked up his track again.

As for Hendrik, he was growing used to the demonic magic. He could probably rival Sirin himself already. Not in magic consumption of course, his human body could barely use the foreign energy when compared to even a new-born demon, but in sheer power. This was mostly because he applied the techniques that he had been learning his entire life with gave him a great advantage against Sirin who barely knew what he was doing.

Sirin grinned as he walked into the cave. At this point it was starting to resemble a mix between a living room and a study room. They had even managed to care a hole in a wall that led to another gave, giving them more space.

The place was littered with books on cultivation techniques and artifacts. From what Sirin understood, Hendrik was trying to find a way to cultivate the demonic magic instead of the usual energy they used here. like this he could continue his training as any other even with his 'wound.'

Like the furniture, most of the books had been creatively borrowed from the nearby towns. Sirin had even sneaked into the temple to steal some scrolls on cultivation and martial art techniques.

"Are you really okay with living in solitude?" Sirin asked as he made his way trough the cave.

"I want to figure this out first before I go home. I doubt that the temple would let me in after making a deal with you."

Sirin smiled as he spoke. "So, you're saying that my entire existence is so taboo that I can pass it onto others? Man, that would have really hurt my feelings if I cared about that. Sadly, I don't, and I probably won't be here long enough to start caring."

"You're leaving again?"

"Yea," Sirin shrugged. "It's about time I did so. I would hate to see that another demon claims my territory after being gone for too long."

"You will come back, right?" He asked while leaning back in his chair.

Sirin was already making a little jar with his magic creation. "Yea probably. Otherwise, it would have been a wase of my efforts to share my magic with you."

Before Hendrik could ask what Sirin was doing he had already bitten his wrist and black blood was dripping into the jar.

"I'm nut sure if my magic alone is good enough to call me back, but I'm sure my blood will do the trick. You can use that along with the summoning circle I carved into the wall, like this we'll be sure that its me you're summoning and not some messed up imp."

Hendrik stood up from his chair and took the jar from Sirin. He could feel how it was drenched with the demon's magic, and honestly, he was quite envious at how much magic Sirin's body would be able to hold.

"Don't worry about it." The demon responded. "You might not be able to store it properly, but you can use it directly from me."

Hendrik decided to ignore the comment of Sirin, tough he still couldn't help but wonder if the demon was reading his mind. but his suspicions could only be answered by the seemingly never fading smile of Sirin.

Sirin stayed in that world for just one more day before he opened the portal to hell and slipped through.

He was pleased to see that he wasn't that far from the dead forest. Yes, he would have to walk for about a day or so, but it could have been worse.

As he made his way trough the burning no one's land, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. It wasn't that odd since his shirt hadn't survived the fight with the other demon, so his white skin was easily noticeable against the dark red background, but it was really getting on his nerves.

However, when he stopped to look around, he couldn't find anything. It came to the point where he thought that he was just imagining things , maybe due to the fact that he barely slept during the last couple of weeks. But the fact that he wasn't tired at all disproved that theory.

He was thinking about turning into a flame demon so his appearance wouldn't stick out this much. However, if he were indeed being followed, him suddenly switching species would only make him more interesting for his pursuers.

Suddenly two demons appeared before him. They were both seemed old and powerful, an extremely rare sight in the part of hell this close to the hatchery. Furthermore, they both looked unnaturally healthy. No skars or bruises, not even a chip on their horns.

They both had a crystal-like object on their chests. It was dark red and emitted a powerful energy, though it was hard to tell if it was magic or not.

Afraid that he might have accidentally trespassed the territory of these demons on his way home he immediately turned around and tried to flee.

If he trespassed someone else's territory, then it was a mistake on his behalf, and no amount of pleating would get him out of this situation. The only thing he could do was run.

Tough this was his plan, it failed as soon as he tried to put it in motion. He soon found himself getting lifted off the ground and getting dragged back to the two demons.

"Descendant of the fifth seal. Space has requested your attendance." One of the demons spoke.

Sirin squirmed in the air, trying to break free form the magic that was holding him.

Suddenly both of the demons flinched and the red objects on their chests lit up for a moment. One of them looked terrified now and was slightly trembling while the other was just a little paler. "On further communication with the red god, we have been ordered to wait a little longer. We will bring you to the three pillars once the time is right."

After that both of seemingly faded out of existence and Sirin fell to the ground.

Completely shocked by the encounter, Sirin spread his wings and flew home as fast as he could, he didn't even care if another demon saw them now.
