Chương 24: Childish Infatuations

" Give me a hug Mabel and tell me you're willing to step out of that nerdy bubble and see the outside world", Megan said encouragingly and Mabel felt warmth envelope her heart.

" Where were you all these time? Why didn't you come into my life sooner", Mabel asked as she gave Megan a tight embrace.

Megan was just about to comment on that when the door to the bathroom flew open and instead of a girl walking in, Holden Langford came in.

Megan stared at the beautiful figure shocked and surprised to see him but no sooner had his eyes met hers that he removed it to stare at Mabel.

" Megan what's wrong?", Mabel asked and left the embrace, she was had her back facing Holden so she couldn't see him but when she turned around she finally saw him, he wasn't looking good but pale and worried, why?

Holden walked towards her and pulled her wrist, hiding her behind him, he glared at Megan. " What did you do to her? Why are you hugging her?", he asked coldly and Mabel couldn't help but stare at Megan who looked shattered like her heart had just been broken into a million pieces.

Megan was a bit quick to recover this time. If there was anything that she had learnt from observing Holden for so many years was that his irritation for her would only grow each passing day.

What he asked did affect her. He had always been quick to blame her when it came to Mabel, she didn't even want to know what relationship they shared anymore because she was already getting the hint, he was attached to Mabel.

Instead she made a decision deep within her to answer the situation calmly. Closing her eyes and opening them once again, she stared at Holden and then Mabel who was busy staring at her with an apologetic look.

She went towards Holden and drew Mabel back to her side when he least expected it.

" I'm not bullying her, you can't just come over and accuse me of that. Breaking news since Holden Langford has no idea about this, Mabel and I are good friends and you have no right to question our relationship", she said and Holden remained impassive like he didn't believe her.

Well what was she expecting?

" Holden it's true, Megan and I have been friends for long and though some of it had to do with you, we found out we made a great pair in the end", Mabel spoke softly but she was sure he heard her clearly.

" Holden you can tell Luke am ready to be the bride of his massive idea now and you know that's all thanks to Megan", she said and dragged Megan along with her but before they left he cleared his throat awkwardly.

" Can I speak to Megan alone?", he asked with his serious voice and Mabel was about to refuse on Megan's behalf but Megan spoke before she could.

" Of course, Mabel please wait for me outside, I'll be fine", Megan said and added as she saw Mabel was reluntact to let her go.

" What's your deal Megan? I hope you are not using Mabel as your new stupid method to come close to me because if it happens to be so, you would wish to be far away from me by then", Holden said as soon as Megan shut the door away from Mabel.

" You can rest assured Holden", Megan stated and sighed softly before speaking once more. " I'm done chasing you, am done holding on to some childish infatuation, you can rest assured that I care about Mabel genuinely".

" Infact I should be asking you what's your deal with Mabel? Have a nice day Holden Langford, I hope you believe me but if you choose not to, that's your problem, not mine", she said and without waiting for Holden to speak walked away from there.
