Chương 8: Chapter 7: The Grimoire
When the Prestige (or Afon) class ends, usually, this is how a normal school day starts in Oglourine Academy. Students go to Neutral Building to start their other courses.
Today is such an overwhelming day for Esserine. Her classmate is Maria, a competitive mean girl. Maria talks a lot, mostly mocking people. And Esserine doesn't like it, she is a quiet girl. She prefers a quiet class with determined introverted people than this active Prestige class.
"At least the game was fun, not so bad". Esserine thought.
Looking at a random clock in the hallway. "Ooh, I need to walk faster or else a tardy will be marked in my student record". She sped up and walked as fast as she could.
Unfortunately, because it's the first day of school. What does Esserine expect?
The hallway is full of new freshmen. They are lost, slow, and a waste of time. That's all she thinks about them currently. However, as the daughter of Duke Henderson and the little sister of the Vice President of Oglourine Academy. She will never say it out loud. Even though right now, she just wants to scream and say "Can you all jerks move quicklier??!!".
Out of the blue, Esserine had a crazy idea. She'll just use her ability to avoid this crowd. Yet she understands the rules of the school well. Prestiges, Afons, or could be anyone (even professors), people who don't have permission from the Principal cannot use their abilities in the school zone, except for educational purposes.
After a minute fighting in her own head, Esserine decides to do it.
"Shadow Cloak". Her own shadow grew up high and covered her whole body in total darkness. It slowly pulled her down to the ground. Esserine disappeared in the crowd of people.
On the other hand, Maria is using another way to get to her first class. She threw away a stack of money right in the middle of the central hallway. This draws everyone's attention and clears out the way. Okay, this is smart, but you have to be rich to do it. And Maria has nothing else other than money and gemstones.
Running a while, Maria stops in front of a door.
"Spells and Charms". Maria read it out loud. She was about to enter the class. Suddenly, Esserine crawled out of the dark corner of the hallway.
Maria looks at Esserine, Esserine looks back.
They both stare at each other for a period of time ….
"I'll tell the supervisor of the hallway that you sneaky girl was breaking the rule" - Maria spoke up.
"Shut up and I'll let you borrow my spell book" - Esserine said without hesitation.
Everyone in the school knows about it. The Grimoire. Esserine's mother is a powerful witch, she can see her mom's name written in the history book. Esserine's mom has devoted her whole life to researching spirituality and creating proficient magic spells.
"Deal" - Maria smiled wickedly.
Maria pretends like that isn't someone she knows. She opens the door and steps into the class. Esserine follows behind too. They pick the empty table from the very back of class and sit there.
The Grimoire is so important, why did Esserine agree to let someone like Maria read it? Her dad works for the king. Esserine is intelligent enough to understand which one is the perfect price to deal. Maria comes from a merchant family. She of course won't let Esserine get away without something valuable. Why? Just one thing, Maria doesn't like Esserine.
"Give it to me just today, tomorrow morning, I will return it back." - Maria whispered. Esserine responded immediately: "How do I know you are not stealing it from me?"
"Because I'm not some low level worker in this society. I'm abundant and splendid". Maria took out her notebook preparing for the class while speaking pridefully.
"Okay, sure. Here, keep it safe and clean." - Esserine rolled her eyes around. She pulled out the Grimoire from nowhere and gave it to Maria.
The teacher makes her way in the class and lets the lesson begin.

Spells and Charms are convenient tools to use in daily life, or could be on the battlefield too, if and only if the caster is wise enough.
Everyone can learn and use Spells and Charms. These things aren't as individual as Abilities. These things lie deeply in the witchcraft part. Witches, Wizards, Saintesses, and other spiritual practitioners have been using Spells and Charms in their daily life since an extremely long time ago. Even before the witch's trial is written in the history book.
In Oglourine Academy, there are many courses to learn Witchcraft. For beginners, the most basic course is 'Magic Theory'. Then you can pick 'Spells and Charms' for the next level or 'Divinations'. Higher than that is 'Rituals and Enchanting'. And the highest is 'Ancient Witchcraft'.
Witchcraft is a form of soul researching and inner science. Just like other sciences like Chemistry, Physics, ….
Energy lies in our hands, blood, heart, and mind. We just need to learn about ourselves and awaken it.
