Lovi sat in her room fiddling with fabric when she heard tapping on her outer window. She opened it up and let Bale inside who immediately pounced on her and littered her with kisses, "Lovi Lovi Lovi!"
She pushed him off with a growl, "Get off already!"
The bird left her head and flew around them, chirping excitedly.
"Both of you!!! Shhh! Master is going to wake up!"
Bale sat up, his tail swinging back and forth happily, "Are you ready?"
She held up the fabric, "Ready."
He looked at her hands, "What is that?"
"Clothes to wear tonight." She threw him a pair, "Put it on."
Lovi started to put on the outfit and felt a pair of eyes upon her. She looked over to see Bale staring at her without blinking.
Feeling embarrassed, she scowled at him, "What are you gawking at?!"
"-Just admiring how beautiful you are."
Lovi grit her teeth and threw her clothes at him, "Are you getting dressed or not?!"
He nodded quickly and started to remove his shirt to replace it.
This time, he felt a pair of eyes on him and looked up to see Lovi staring at him unblinking. He grinned mischievously and started making a show out of removing his garments, "Do you like it?"
She turned red, "Stop messing around."
"Ohhh~ There goes the pants!"
Lovi quickly covered her eyes, "Why are you removing your pants!?"
"I thought you wanted a show?"
"W-Who would want that!?"
Lovi peeked through her fingers to see a smug Bale, "I can see you peeking."
"Can you stop messing around already!?"
"Okay, okay. I'm ready." He pulled at the right black clothes with a frown, "But doesn't this thing make us stand out more?"
Lovi went to her outer window to open it, "I added elements to make us blend in. As long as there's no one with Holy magic or strong mana, no one will notice us unless we want them to. I can't take a human form like you, so I can only rely on stealth."
He followed her out of the window and scaled the courtyard wall, "You cursed it the outfit, didn't you."
She flushed red and muttered, "...Why do you think it's so itchy?"
He let out a sigh, "Lovi. The Great Fairy forbids you to use curses. Doesn't each use lower your life expectancy?"
"It's fiiine. It's just a little curse. I didn't suffer any backlash from it."
"-Where do you think you're going?"
Lovi froze and looked into the shadows at the edge of the barrier where a pair of vibrant orange eyes were staring at her.
She gulped, "B-Big brother…"
Asmonious crossed his arms sternly as he stepped out from the shadows.
Bale shivered under his stare, but still waved politely, "Hey! I'm Bale. Lovi's mate-"
Lovi slapped him in the stomach, causing him to double over, "Who said I'm your mate?!"
"Oof!"
Seeing him holding his stomach she panicked, "Are you okay!?"
Bale looked up at her with large eyes, "Kiss it better?"
"Shut up! Watch your mouth in front of my brother!"
Asmonious pursed his lips as he spoke to Bale, "I know who you are. But why are you two sneaking out?"
They both averted their gaze, "Urrr."
He frowned, "Master doesn't know that he's been sneaking into your room, Lovi. But that doesn't mean I don't know."
Lovi turned pale, "You-You knew?!"
Bale looked at him in admiration, "You didn't tell the Great Fairy?"
Asmonious looked back at him without emotion, "I would have if you two decided to cross a certain line, but since you have only kissed I've been ignoring it."
Lovi turned bright red, "You've been spying on me?!"
He rolled his eyes, "Not intentionally. You two are just too loud."
Lovi hid her face in embarrassment, "I need to soundproof my room."
Bale smiled completely unperturbed by the situation, "Yes! Soundproof it! Then we can be as loud as we want-"
He shut his mouth under the glare of Asmonious.
Seeing him sweating and averting his gaze, Asmonous looked back to Lovi, "So? Where are you going?"
Lovi decided to fold, "Fine. I will tell you. We are going to get revenge on my father for what he did to my mother. Bale has been observing my father and for the next four days, the Holy Priestesses won't be in the town. We have to go tonight or else we won't get another chance!"
Asmonious's eyes widened, "And you weren't going to tell Master?!"
She whined, "Master wouldn't let me go! She's too overprotective! She would probably want to go with me!!!"
"And why is that bad?!"
She lowered her gaze, "Master has the twins now… I don't want… I don't want anything to happen to her. Plus, this is my revenge. I should be the one who does it. So please don't tell Master! Please… I'm begging you!"
Asmonious stared at her pleading expression for a moment and then glanced at Bale who flinched and turned pale under his gaze. Asmonious pursed his lips, "And what do you get out of this?"
Bale answered honestly, "Hopefully, marriage."
Lovi stared at him incredulously, "..."
"Pfft."
The two looked at Asmonious in surprise, but his expression was devoid of emotion. If it hadn't been for both of them hearing the soft laugh, they would have assumed it was a figment of their imagination.
Asmonious spoke calmly, "I should still tell Master."
"No! Please! Moni!" Lovi ran to him and grabbed the sleeve of his shirt, "Please don't tell Master! Please! I beg you! I will do anything!"
Asmonious was so shocked by Lovi grabbing onto him.
Hadn't it been the first time she's ever gotten this close to him?
Demons were instinctually afraid of him, barely getting close in fear he would gobble them up. Lovi wasn't any different. She barely got close to him, and if she did, she never touched him willingly.
Seeing her tearful gaze, holding onto his sleeve as if it were a lifeline, he folded immediately.
"...Fine. I won't tell her."
"YES!"
"-But, I'm going with you."
She stared at him in surprise, "Huh?"
He smiled back at her, "It's too dangerous for you two to go without an adult. Master would never forgive me if I let you go alone."
"Are you serious!?"
"I am."
"What about Lene? If she wakes up and you aren't there, won't she go find Master?"
"It's okay. I already told Rose to distract her for me."
Lovi looked at him suspiciously, "But why would you do all that for me?"
"I can protect you two this way." He reached over and grabbed the two by the collar, "Besides-"
In the blink of an eye, they were turned into shadows and dropped onto a brick road.
He smiled at the two holding their stomachs and groaning, "-I can get you there faster."
Lovi raised her head and her pupils retracted in shock.
Under the moonlight, they could see their target's house.
Lovi's mouth dropped, "S-So fast!?"
"As for your revenge, I will just follow you two. I won't interfere unless you're going to get seriously hurt." As they approached the large fenced wall, he glanced at Lovi. He added in an ominous voice, "Although before we continue, you both must vow to never reveal my abilities or my form to Master."
Lovi furrowed her brow, "Master doesn't know?"
He shook his head, "No. And she should never know either."
"Huh."
He looked at her curiously, "What?"
"No… I'm just surprised Mr. Good Boy who can do no wrong is keeping a secret from Master."
He averted his gaze, "It's not that I want to… It's just… It's complicated."
"Uhuh…"
He held out his hands to them, "So make me a promise you won't tell."
They reached out and as soon as they grabbed his hand, a cloud of smoke released from his palm and was absorbed into theirs.
Her mouth just dropped in shock, "Did you just curse us!?!"
He chuckled, "It's just a curse to make sure you can't speak about it."
"How did you curse us!?! This curse is something that's hard for me to pull off!!!"
He gave her a wink, "I'm capable of everything."
Lovi was speechless and could only stare.
