Looking at the two steel armors racing toward him and his allies, Abel quickly recognized the larger, bulkier one as Obadiah's Iron Overlord. Its design closely resembled the version he had previously fought, while the third-generation Iron Overlord II had subtle differences, most notably in the weapon systems mounted on its back and arms.
The other armor, on the other hand, was devoid of visible weaponry. Instead, it featured thicker defensive plating and inconspicuous external devices on each arm, suggesting a focus on defense over offense.
These two armors were undoubtedly Obadiah's third-generation Iron Overlord and Vanke's Whiplash armor.
Abel, surrounded by swirling black smoke, gracefully descended beside Tony and Rhodey.
As Tony scanned Obadiah's and Vanke's armors, he remarked to Abel and Rhodey, "Aside from the heavy defenses on Obadiah's armor, the most striking feature is the two mounted weapons behind it. That one on the right has an exceptionally high energy reading; it must be some kind of powerful weapon."
He continued, "The other armor looks fine for now, but we need to be cautious about those devices on its arms. They must have a plan if they're not packing traditional weapons."
"Tony, should we discuss a battle plan?" Rhodey suggested.
Tony chuckled. "A plan? Our plan is simple: we fight! Three against three, one for each!"
But just as Tony finished, Vanke's voice cut through the tension in heavily accented English, "Three to three? You seem to have made a mistake; it's actually four to two now!"
With that proclamation, the eyes of Vanke's armor glowed a menacing red. Simultaneously, Rhodey's armor was compromised; its systems were hijacked, causing the once-white energy core to flicker and shift to an ominous red, mirroring Vanke's armor. Without hesitation, it seized control of the Gatling gun and aimed it directly at Tony and Abel, opening fire!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets rained down, most striking Tony's armor, forcing him to evade and take cover behind a series of bunkers.
"Rhodey, what's happening?" Tony shouted through the communication device.
"I can't control my own armor! It's been taken over!" Rhodey replied, panic creeping into his voice.
Tony's expression darkened as he realized the implications. He recalled Rhodey mentioning that the armor he had received was modified by Hammer Industries, and since Obadiah had a history with them, it was likely that Rhodey's suit had been tampered with.
"Damn it! Abel, it's just the two of us now!" Tony growled.
Abel, with a micro-communication device in his ear, smirked as he glided downward. "What, scared?"
"I'm concerned you might not handle it," Tony shot back.
"Relax, I'll be fine. I can take them on myself if needed."
"Then show me what you can do!" Tony challenged.
With that, Tony stopped hesitating and turned to face the approaching steel soldiers. He raised his hands and unleashed an energy shockwave toward the front line of armored foes. The standard steel soldiers crumpled under the impact, but with their sheer numbers, they were a formidable challenge.
Tony rocketed through the air, leveraging his speed and agility to navigate between buildings and cover. Behind him, Obadiah and Vanke led their soldiers in relentless pursuit.
Meanwhile, Zeke and the commandeered war machine coordinated with the remaining steel soldiers, closing in on Abel, who soared through the sky.
Despite the barrage, Abel, using Apparition, deftly maneuvered, making it difficult for the steel soldiers to land a hit on him. For Abel, with the right preparation, conventional firearms posed little threat.
Glancing back at Tony's predicament, Abel recognized he needed to intervene quickly. He halted mid-air, shrouded in black smoke. Grasping the newly crafted Dragon Heart Wand, he flicked his wrist, sending a trail of red lightning spiraling from the wand's tip. The bolt struck the nearest steel soldiers, obliterating them in a flash.
As he swiftly transformed back into black smoke, Abel narrowly avoided incoming fire from other soldiers.
Meanwhile, Zeke and the war machine pressed on, determined to catch Abel.
Apparition allowed Abel to soar above the clouds, where he strategically positioned himself. As the steel soldiers entered the cloud cover, Abel reappeared above them, wand ignited with swirling black and red flames.
"Fiendfyre!" he intoned, conjuring forth waves of hellfire from the wand. The searing flames engulfed the soldiers, melting through their armor and causing explosive disintegration.
Zeke, who had underestimated the flames, suddenly realized the imminent danger. He ignited the propellers on his armor and bolted away, narrowly escaping the hellfire that scorched through the air like paper.
Though Zeke's armor was more durable than the steel soldiers', he knew it wouldn't withstand the same flames. However, Zeke didn't hesitate to command the war machine to charge straight into the perilous inferno.
Rhodey, witnessing the impending disaster, felt a surge of dread but remained powerless as he thought he'd meet his end in the flames. Suddenly, the hellfire swirled, drawing back into Abel's wand like water into a sink.
