They believed that Stella Shane was to be blamed for everything. They didn't think that they had done anything wrong. In their eyes, they were virtuous people. They couldn't do anything wrong.

Even if they did, it was all because they were misled by other people. They didn't believe that they should take any responsibility.

They insisted that they didn't do anything wrong and that Stella should be the one who apologized. They blamed her for all the threats and insults they had received the previous night.

They went on about how harmless they would have been if Stella Shane hadn't started the whole thing. Moreover, they wanted compensation from Stella for the damage she had caused.
