Chương 6: 006- Potion Making 101
(A/N: For the sake of my sanity. Elizabeth is only in her early forties having had Sean when she was young in this. Sean is about 28 for me in this so let's make his mom only 44. I know she was only 16 when she had him but I am sticking with it.)

They walked into the shop with Elizabeth looking everything over, "This is a good shop, I am seeing some things that are harder to find even where I live." She said while looking at a large jar, he knew that stuff was hard to come by he usually bought some for making poisons.
"Yeah, Freddy always gets the best stuff. People trust him so it is always easier for him to get things, he also has great discounts for people who by in higher qualities." Eli said while walking to the counter, no one was out front at the moment, well Freddy wasn't since he was the only worker here. He rung the bell while waiting for the man to come.
"So you come here a lot then?" She asked looking over some more things.
"Not to much but when I need something. I usually buy a lot so I don't make a lot of trips here." He said while watching her ass as she walked around it was a great view, he knew that she knew it too since she was swaying her hips some.
At that moment Freddy came up, he was a shorter man with a full beard when he caught sight of Eli he smiled some, "Ahh Eli so good to see you again. What will it be today?"
"Hey Freddy, good to see you doing well. Just give me everything on this list please." Eli said already having the list made, he never put anything that would make it obvious what he was making though. Although he trusted Freddy the man did like to keep some records of what people bought, even if he did it after they left, Eli once caught a look of it though.
"Alright give me one moment." Freddy said while also shooting a look over to Elizabeth who was writing something down on her own piece of paper as she moved around the room.
She finally walked to the counter while handing Freddy her list, "Also get this for me. Just put it with his things, he is paying for it.
Freddy raised a brow looking at Eli but seeing him nod he got to work without asking questions, Eli looked out the window at the moment. He saw the same man in the SUV from earlier, he was just sitting out there waiting while not walking inside this time he was on a phone though.
Elizabeth actually followed his line of sight this time and sighed, "I honestly didn't think that he would follow me."
Eli raised a brow, "Someone you know?"
"Yes, my son. We had lunch earlier while he was asking me to make something for him, when he asked about my night last night. Although I kept it vague he did catch on that I was with someone last night, he got a little suspicious and now looks like he decided to follow." She could only shake her head while saying it.
Eli laughed before moving next to her, "Well if he wants to follow and watch us, then let him." He leaned in taking her lips while she moaned into his mouth, Eli forgot all about how her son was watching and just kept kissing her.
Although he was probably the same age as her son it wasn't weird for him, instead he actually really like doing this and spending time with her. He knew that nothing to serious would ever happen between the two of them but before they broke whatever this was off he was going to enjoy all that he could with her.
She seemed to feel the same way as she leaned into him more wrapping her arms around his neck, she was actually a tall woman. He was five foot eleven but she seemed only two inches shorter since they were so close face to face, the two kept making out until they heard a cough.
Look over he threw Freddy a smile while pulling away some, "Sorry about that, just having a little fun."
"Yes well please have your fun at home. Single people don't really like to see that stuff happen in front of them." He said while giving them a tight smile.
Eli laughed while paying for everything they got, it was all in two big bags nodding he took them before walking out she was in front of him already holding the door. He gave her a smile before ignoring the SUV and walking over to his car, he put everything in the back before getting inside, she already turned on the car while putting on the Lofi.
"To your hotel!" Eli said while pointing forward before stopping and looking at her, "Where is your hotel?"
She laughed before giving him directions, she was staying in one of the nicer ones in town, "Alright are you going to wait here or help me out?"
Eli raised a brow but smiled turning off the car, "Don't mind if I do."
They both walked into the lobby Eli was following behind her while looking at everything, it seemed she made pretty decent money to stay in a four-star hotel like this. They rode the elevator up to the eleventh floor before getting off, he followed her to her room which was only a door down from the elevator.
Walking into the room he was going to sit until she was ready but he didn't expect her to push him against the wall, the next moment her mouth was on his. Not wanting to be in the losing position here he reversed them holding her against the wall.
She pulled back some getting air while answering the unasked question, "We should take this chance to at least get the room a little messy before I leave it."
Eli gave her a wide grin before he helped her do just that, they didn't miss a single part of the room, first was the living room, then the bedroom, finally ending in the shower. They both wore grins as he helped her pack her bags, when they finished they walked out of the room not even bothering to hide the broken lap that had fallen over.
She checked out while he wasn't to far away holding her suitcase while checking emails, his hair was still a little wet from the shower making him a little cold. He didn't put his phone down until she walked over, getting the all good they both left the hotel happier and more relaxed.
The drive to his place was in comfortable silence as they listened to Lofi that was playing from his phone through the speakers. "So when do I need to give back the keys to your place?" She asked as they were now in his elevator going to his place.
He looked over at her with a raised brow, "Whenever one of us calls this off. You can keep them until you find someone else or I do, until then keep them as long as you want. Make sure that you call me before you just show up though, I just don't want to be creeped out by coming home and seeing stuff moved around which I had no part in."
She laughed before nodding, "Sure that is fine."
With that settled they got her settled in before he showed her where they would be making the potions, he had a secret room in the apartment just for his whole Wesen side. Moving to his study they went over to his book shelf, he moved one of his least read books before pressing a green button that was there.
The case on the opposite side of the room moved out the way, behind it was a room a little bigger then his kitchen. Without anyone knowing the layout of his apartment before hand then they wouldn't know it was there, he also made sure that no one did either.
This room was made by himself after taking the wall down that was connected to the room next to this one, the other door from outside was just a wall now. The two moved into the room as she looked everything over, he kept some rarer liquids in here behind a glass shelf that needed a key.
Other then that there were five pots to make potions in, he always kept more that way just in case he needed to make multiple at a time. This wasn't special or anything since all Wesen who had this knowledge could make this stuff, but with his Zauberbiest bloodline then his potions were stronger then those who weren't Hexenbiest or Zauberbiest.
"This is an impressive space. Some of these I don't even have anymore, ran out of them since they were in high demand." She commented while pointing out some of the rarer bottles that were in the glass case.
"Yeah I know. I usually do a little work for others but deny them when they ask for stuff that include those, never know when I will need them myself." He said while taking everything out the bags, he knew these potions like the back of his hand so he didn't need the books behind him.
She moved over and started taking what she needed too, the room went quite as they got to work, she was focused on what she was making at the moment. Eli started to work on the truth one first since she wanted to see how the memory altering one worked, which was actually one that his mother had made.
Rule one of potion making: Never add in your own blood.
This was a big thing, unless you were making something that you wanted someone to be obsessed with you then never add in your own blood. This just lead to many problems down the road, most of the time it would also end in bloodshed because it would have a negative reaction.
Although he made some for people once or twice this was something that Eli avoided, he didn't want to make people slaves to someone else. The potions that used someone else blood that wasn't for saving really did have to many negative effects for his liking really.
This also included other parts of the body but blood is a big since it had the biggest effect on any potion it was put into.
Rule Two: Always make sure you watch your potion.
These things needed to be accurate, if they were off by even a second many things could happen so they always needed to be done the right way. If something went wrong while a potion was going then it could make it weaker, stronger, fail, or even blow up.
This is why you could only really step away if you have mastered what you are making if you haven't then don't even try it. Most people didn't get what they wanted out of a potion because of these simple mistakes, so it was always considered good to watch what you make unless you are an expert.
Eli added the last thing to the truth potion while stirring it slowly, he made these enough to know what he need to get it done. After he stirred for awhile he could leave it to sit for two days then it would have the best effect, to make it simple the ingredients inside would be at their peak at that time combining together.
Looking over he could see that she took out a 'witches hat' to add the final effects to what she was making, he could faintly sense that it was dangerous. He just shrugged his shoulders, she said it was for her son and it wasn't like she was trying to kill him so he didn't care much.
This is just what happened in this world as a Wesen you had to get use to it, there were just to many feuds that happened for someone to get caught up in what happened to others. Like the feud that Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest had with Mellifers, it was just something that happened between them.
Mellifers were messengers and they saw them as evil, even the good ones. Plus they seemed to want to use the power that they had, they would cut out the tongues of Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest so they they could study the power that they held.
"Alright I am done here, are you making the Memory altering one now?" She asked walking over to him after bottling and setting down whatever she was made.
"Yeah, watch closely and I will explain what you need to do. Although a lot of this is chemical reactions and basic alchemy, there is also some intent to is. This requires someone to use their Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest powers to get it just right." He explained while setting up another pot and laying out the ingredients.
She nodded and watched him, she didn't speak again as he went into how the potion was made just writing down all the steps that he said. When he showed his eyes, like Adalind she was mesmerized seeing them, it wasn't just because of their beauty but also because of the power she felt.
She only came back to herself when he stopped moving, when he saw that she was paying attention again he went back as they were on the final steps. Seeing the potion go from a milky blue all the way to a shining gold she was stunned but nodded when he said it was suppose to happen.
"And that is it, by Saturday or Sunday it should be done. When it is the color should be a milky white or egg white, at the moment it is all still blending together but touching it more would just lessen the effects." He said putting it to the side, not next to but close to the truth one he was making.
"Wow that was just.... Wow. I never thought the process could be like that, usually people use their power while making these but I have never seen and effect like that." She said her voice holding some awe as she did.
Eli chuckled some while checking his phone, he was getting hungry and seeing that it was getting late he decided to make her dinner, "So what am I making you for dinner Liz?"
She looked at him with a raised brow, "Liz?"
"Yeah, your name is to long to speak each time. And while it is a beautiful name, I figured this was something I could call you." He shrugged while motioning for them to leave the room, he closed the shelf back as they both walked out.
"Well I am okay with that. Do you have stuff to make a cheese broccoli, feel free to add your own twist with it." She said as they made it into the living room, she took a seat on the couch while turning on the TV.
"Actually I set a message to my cleaner asking her to stock up on things so yes I do. It should be ready in thirty minutes, feel free to relax." He leaned over the couch stealing her lips before walking off, "Maybe I should just have you, you do taste really good."
Her laugh followed him into the kitchen, since it was open concept the island was the only thing that separated the two areas. He could still see her from where he stood as he got to work on the food, he was glad to see that she was so relaxed as she settled into his couch curling up watching something on the TV.
Shaking his head he went back to the food, he also sent off the message to Monroe about the meet up for Friday. He had a morning trial for Timothy that day, luckily it was also the morning the potion would be done so he can use it to help that case.
Of course that is to help him lose it, there was no way that he was going to let that man win, but it wasn't his fault if he started telling everyone in the room everything right? Smiling to himself he looked down at his phone nodding seeing the conformation text from Monroe.
Setting that to the side he kept cutting the fresh broccoli, he was glad that he kept his fridge full stocked up getting his cleaner to refill it once a week. He was also glad that he never had to go away for a case, he still shudders at the time he needed to go to Arizona because one of his clients was arrested there for a drug possession.
Hearing a laugh coming from Liz at the couch he shook those thoughts away, he didn't need to think about any of that instead he needed to work on the meal.
