"Miss Evelyn!" 

Evelyn jolted from her thoughts when she heard someone calling her name. She glanced around and saw that everyone's eyes were on her. She noticed Derek was no more in the witness box. Searching around, she swiftly moved forward, knowing that they might have called her for questioning. 

Entering the witness box, she looked at Elric who smiled at her assuringly. Mr Franklin walked up to her and asked, "So, Miss Evelyn, it's reported that Mr Aldrich wanted to kill you. Do you agree?" Seeing her nod, he asked further, "Why do you think he would do that?" 

She took a deep breath, calming her anxiety and replied, "I don't know the reason why he would do that." 

"How can you be so certain that he wants to kill you?" He asked her. 

"Well, it's his motive and he knows about it. Why would I be aware?" She replied. 

Mr Franklin nodded and asked, "How do you come to know that Mr Aldrich wanted to kill you?"
