'What does his ability do?'
[all special attacks that are directed his way are absorbed and regenerate health. Surplus becomes a shield that takes damage from him.]
'Seems just as broken. But I guess that's what happens when you have a full legacy.' He thought. He was far too numb from the previous shocks to have any energy left for shocked expressions. He just took it for what it was.
[seems to be the case. This is beyond the balance of this world. I wonder what Arceus's plan was for all this. It doesn't seem to make sense. Sure, giving some compensation was fine, but to destabilise the balance of this world with this new power is a bit nonsensical.] Gaia added seriously.
Rex couldn't help but think about Gaia's words. There was a point in that statement, it did in fact seem a bit… how to put it… stupid. But there must be a reason for it. maybe it went beyond punishing a single species. Maybe there was something out there that made Arceus quake with suck fear that he created a new army of Pokémon with the potential for immense borderline god level power.
That was his only reasonable hypothesis based on the current information he had available to him. and there was probably not going to be any more until he met Arceus.
[you may be on to something Rex. And you are also right, we won't be able to verify your hypothesis for the time being. But if what you said is correct… then we might be in for a very… very rough time.] Gaia said solemnly.
Rex didn't want to think about this anymore. He physically could do nothing more than simply train as hard as he can all day long for as long as he can to maximise the safety of everything he held dear. That was all he could do. Nothing more, nothing less.
With that thought in mind, Rex turned to all of his Pokémon with a warm smile on his face.
*CLAP!*
"Everyone! Can I have your attention please!?" he yelled.
Everyone who was previously huddled in a massive group around Mordred dispersed and faced Rex waiting intently for his words.
Rex nodded in a satisfied manner.
"We have all been working hard. Every single one of you has been incredibly diligent in their training. So as a bonding exercise, I want you all to come up with a design for your Pokeball. Be aware, this Pokeball represents who you are as a person." He announced to the pleasant surprise of everyone present.
He Gaia create small drones that hovered and imputed all the desires his Pokémon wanted to include in their designs. Rex had been thinking about this little thing for a while during his time in the tower. He realised that Gaia could create things straight from his inventory. Something he had not realised or thought possible. He had been slaving away creating all of these things by hand.
And although he was a bit indignant towards Gaia for not telling him, it was also his small-mindedness that stopped him from thinking of such a possibility.
[glad you know that] Gaia chimed in.
Rex gritted his teeth slightly in anger.
An hour passed by as all of his Pokémon worked on their designs. All of them were incredibly serious about their pokeballs since they had to live with it. Rex didn't tell them they could change it whenever because that would take out any meaning their choices had. It was meant to have a special meaning after all.
The quickest to come back with a design was Steelix. He was now a supercomputer, so he came back with his 2 minutes after the task was announced. still, a long time considering that Steelix and Gaia mini were thousands of times faster if not hundreds of thousands of times faster than the human brain if not more. So two minutes although fast for normal people and Pokémon was actually incredibly long for Steelix.
And his design was a completely chrome design with neon red-light running through where the black stripe used to be. It looked similar to a premier ball except the white was replaced with chrome. Rex wondered why this took him so long to make but then he thought that maybe this was one of the millions of ideas he liked.
Machamp was next. His was a matte black ball with golden neon light at 45 degrees, 135 degrees, 225 degrees and one at 313 degrees. It looked like an 'X' shape with the middle part gone.
Mordred was next. His was simple yet beautiful. A simple emerald crystal turned into a Pokeball. When Rex asked him about it, Mordred grinned and explained with a puffed chest.
[because it will attract females of course! Who doesn't like emeralds!? Plus it goes well with my smoke! Aren't I smart!?] he asked confidently. Rex grimaced at his answer. This was supposed to be a meaningful project. Why was women the first thing on his mind. and here he thought that this new experience would have changed him. But when he thought about it, he smiled slightly. it was better that Mordred stayed this way instead of becoming depressed or swallowed up in his quest for vengeance.
Scizor was next. His design was one that matched his pattern. Green, carbon black and red. It was very eye catching as the fluro colours stood out like a sore thumb.
Arcanine chose a mixture of lapis lazuli and a black metal with a neon blue flame outline. It was slick, calm but very stylish.
Weepinbel chose a wooden pokeball with glowing green neon lights in the gaps where the black was with a white neon light surrounding the button. Simple yet down to earth and in touch with nature which aligned with his typing.
And finally Gyarados, who chose an onyx stone as the foundation for his pokeball with ruby crystals to replace the black stripe the run horizontally. Beautiful and low-key design that contrasted to his wrathful and explosive personality.
He had Gaia make everything according to their specifications. It was much simpler than he imagined. By now, Gaia was informed and knowledgeable about almost anything on the planet. After all, it hadn't been sitting around doing nothing all day.
Soon, Rex had all the pokeballs in front of him. he released all of his Pokémon from their original balls. He then lined up the personalised pokeballs in front of the corresponding Pokémon and they were soon recaptured.
Rex and Gaia also went over some innovations to the pokeballs. They were extremely comfortable to live in. the environment could be changed to suit their needs inside and acted like a small habitat. Not enough to train in, but enough to live quietly and in comfort.
Next they added the healing function that would activate automatically. It would quickly recover the Pokémon's health as soon as they went back in. there was a function that would block this during battles since it would be cheating. this function was controlled by Gaia. This was something he was planning on commercialising in his business after becoming champion along with other things.
An: special thanks to infinite_reader for the Pokémon creating their own pokeball idea. Thank you very much! Another big thanks to 0bsidi4nN0vaArc for the auto heal function on the pokeball. Amazing idea. Keep it up everyone ideas like these are always welcome! More will come up when he begins his business after the league. So stay tuned for those. If you have any other business ideas he could incorporate, please don't be afraid to voice them! Love you all!
