Chương 13: The strangest day (part 8)
My heart felt as if it was about to burst out of my chest and ran up to him, I could barely stay seated since there was nothing that I wanted more than throwing myself in his strong embrace.
It did not matter whether he was in his human form or his werewolf form just by looking at him made me feel the same excitement as back in the empty parking lot at the foot of the mountain the other day...
...wait... that happened only yesterday, didn't it?
I was already in my dream world, but then Lucian turned to us...
...turned to me...
The whole world seemed to come to a halt.
His handsome face, especially the emerald green eyes, lighted up and he gracefully passed the waiter and walked straight to me as if the two of us were the only people in the whole world.
I think that Selene might have said something but I wasn't able to pay attention to her, or anything else, other than Lucian.
There was some indescribable force pulling me towards him, as if he was the most stunning star that caught me, a humble asteroid, into the gravity pull of his splendor – I wasn't able to get away nor did I wanted to.
Quite the opposite, actually.
I didn't even realize that I was standing up until I felt his arms locking me into a loving embrace that almost made my head explode.
"Alexis, I missed you so much!"
The words I wanted to say were spoken by the man that honestly should be way out of my league – handsome, rich, werewolf – would anyone blame me for freaking out and...
"Lucian...! Why didn't you stay with me until morning...? I really thought that it was all a dream...!"
...get emotional and sobbed, nuzzling my face against his muscular chest as I returned the hug, climbing up to my tiptoes to wrap my arms around his neck.
"I wanted to, I really did, but I feared that it would be impossible to leave your side and there was this important meeting that required my presence."
Lucian's breathe caressed my ear as he leaned down before picking me up in his arms as if I was a feather.
No matter which forms he was in, his strength that could only be compared to the level of gentleness that he was holding me with.
"Then, if I start working for your company, will I be able to go to those meetings together with you?"
I asked before I could stop myself...!
Oh no!
That totally come out as if I wanted to be hired straight at the top – that seriously makes me look shallow...!
"I- I didn't mean it like I'm...!"
"That would be for the best – you are the luna of our pack – you are equal to me and this needs to be reflected in the human part of the society too."
But Lucian nodded his head with a very serious expression and spoke just as I was about to take everything back.
"Although it won't be easy for you either – the pack part is quite easy – when it comes to the company, I will put you through a wrangler and make sure that you won't compromise Moonsimonial in any way."
"!!!"
Holy...!
I completely forgot that Selena was there too, and I flinched horribly once I heard her voice somewhere from below.

…!
WHAT ARE WE DOING IN PUBLIC?!
"...public... image..."
Although I did not want to let go of Lucian, the wave of embarrassment that suddenly crashed against my brain was enough to make me fidget and stutter while my face was burning from shame – everyone in the restaurant who could be staring at us – was staring at Lucian and me – there was even someone taking photos!
As soon as I noticed that I hid my face behind Lucian's torso and tapped his chest.
"...we shouldn't.... be doing that in the middle of the restaurant..."
I whimpered in a pitifully quiet voice.
"Ah! Sorry! I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable!"
Lucian gasped and apologized in a bothered voice, and put me down, but even though my foot touched me down, he hesitated about letting me go which made my heart race twice as fast as before.
"I wasn't uncomfortable... But someone so important hanging out with a nobody like me... there will be uproar..."
I grabbed onto his sleeve and shook my head while fidgeting and explained in a low voice.
"Nobody? Alexis – you are a luna – my luna. If there is one person who is free to be affectionate with me in public whenever they want – it is most definitely you!"
Lucian laughed, relieved that it wasn't he who I was upset with, and hugged me again.
Is... is this allowed?
Dear heavens... I can feel his muscles underneath that shirt...!
He is so buff!
I am not weird for liking that, right?
My face was most definitely burning red, and probably so were my ears and neck, but that did not stop me from leaning all in and get a feel of all that muscles moving as there was basically no distance between the two of us.
I could feel his heartbeat~
It matched mine perfectly – whether it was because Lucian was just as moved as it was or simply that werewolves had faster heartrates than humans by default, that was up to debate – but either way, that sound was making me feel at ease, as I was inking in the comfortable warmth of his embrace.
"How did the meeting went?"
…!
Oh crap! I forgot about her Selene again!
"Just as we expected, they wanted to sneak in some last-minute changes, but I reminded them who are they dealing with."
Lucian was way more aware of his surroundings than I ware since he didn't even flinch and answered her with ease.
"Hmph. Humans acting tough in business will always make me laugh."
Selene smirked, shaking her head dismissively.
Truth to be told I expected her to tell us off or straight up scold us for acting unprofessional in public – especially me who hasn't signed any contract as of yet, but instead, she seemed as if everything was in the best order.
"By the way, there was a report about some stragglers sniffing around our territory..."
Selene furrowed her brows and added.
"Leave them – as long as they don't do anything stupid, it's not out business."
Lucian shrugged his shoulders and looked back at me.
"How are you feeling? The mark of the luna isn't putting too much burden on your body?"
He asked in a worried voice that made me blush and hide my face in his shirt.
