Chương 9: Murder Mystery!
Eli woke up the next morning to see countless blades pointed at his throat
"Good morning gentleman." Eli yawned, before looking at a dagger that was held to his throat "May I inquire-"
"Why did you kill Scott and Zele!" Mizik screamed at Eli, causing him to sigh
Eli's eyes scanned the crowd of the 10 people before coming to a conclusion
someone had killed 2 squad members and blamed him, making him sigh.
nobody looked guilty nor was anyone griefed with sadness. they all just thought he may be a threat to their safety.
"Explain yourself!" Mizik hissed like a snake. hey, he did kinda look like a snake.
anyway,
"Well, if I tried something in the night, wouldn't Zubat would have alerted you. speaking of that, I remember that you came out of your hut and started to walk around in the middle of the night. would you like to explain where you doing?" Eli said to a man that had wondered out last night
The man's eyebrows become furrowed
Eli needed a scapegoat. it didn't matter if he did it or not, he still needed it.
it was strange though.
"Who owns this zubat?" Eli asked the crowd.
"I do," Veronica said, coughing something
"Hmm." Eli looked around.
"It's obvious that you did it-" Mizik screamed at me, causing Eli to simply laugh
"Yet Zubat didn't screech at me?" Eli's eyes fell upon the trio "That's strange because when Zubat was scanning the area, I was asleep. however, I woke up at the footsteps of that man in the middle of the night." Eli bullshited
"What are you getting at?" Veronica raised her eyebrow
"Well, there are 4 options. I did it, somebody made it look like I did it, a pokemon did it or..." Eli's eye's changed "Say, how long have you being in the group for?"
"5 days." The man groaned as he didn't like the pressure of the 10 people bearing down on him
"I see. what's your pokemon?"
"A rattata." The man replied, showing a Pokeball
"Please release the rattata." The man's hands became sweaty as he threw the Pokeball out, causing a small rat to come out of the ball.
it was incredibly skinny, malnourished and had countless bruises on it. but something was strange about it
"May I see the corpses?" Eli's eyes flicked to Mizik, who was smart enough to get that Eli was hinting at something.
Eli bent down and touched the body, releasing a simple fact
it was cold to the touch. colder than a human body should be for 6 hours. a normal body to become cool to the touch may vary from anywhere from 24 hours to become this cold, which means...
Eli's eyes fell upon the man
"I envy you."
"Huh?"
"to have such a pokemon as your starter. you were destined for greatness on the island."
Eli's eyes flicked to the man's shadow, where a single flicker could be seen
Mizik quickly appeared behind the man
"Look away, my sister."
a dagger was presented at the man's throat, as the boy brutally swipe his wrist, causing blood to come gushing out of his throat.
the man's final moments were full of curses towards the boy, causing Eli to smile.
it was simply how the man crawled through the senses of Zubat Eli.
it was Duskull, the ghost type pokemon in his shadow.
That rattata was most likely a scapegoat to shift suspicion from his Duskull.
although the Zubat recognized the man and didn't screech at him, it didn't realise there was a ghost type pokemon snuck through its defences.
sure zubat's hearing and senses are great, but ghost type pokemon are a different matter. they are not living, so no life detection there, and even if Zubat was a Golbat it probably wouldn't detect due to the properties of the ghost type.
Screams came from Veronica when she glanced at the body, horror present in her eyes
"You sure she's cut out to be a team galactic member?" Eli asked Mizik, who scoffed
"What do you think! we are only here to cure her disease with Team galactic's cutting edge healing technology." Mizik gripped his knuckles so hard blood started to come out.
Eli's eyes followed him, a mixed look of disdain and amusement filling his eyes
"What do you think will make them do what you wish?" Eli said
"I'll become strong-"
"Said the 8.1 billion people in the world." Eli cut him off "How long do you until she dies of whatever she has?"
"2 months." Mizik gripped his knuckles even harder.
"Oh? you better work hard then." Eli said, patting the boy's shoulder and walking up to the duskull.
Eli had placed both of his pokemon he had gotten into pokeballs he had looted from the countless deceased members of the island.
"There's room for one more..." Eli muttered, throwing a Pokeball that revealing a metallic pokemon
"Confusion." The boy coldly snorted, causing Bronzor to shoot slow yet powerful psychic energy at the Duskull.
the duskull shrugged off the psychic energy, showing its powerful defences.
It instantly turned into a shadow, causing the Eli to shout
"Shadow sneak!"
A shadow ignored the Bronzor and instantly shot to Eli, who held his dagger out in response.
sparks clashed in the air as the boy was sent tumbling back and fell against a tree.
a small bit of blood gushed through his internal organs and into his mouth, causing Eli to cough in a raspy tone.
the duskull moved in the shadows again, rushing to the injured boy.
Eli felt the world stop around him.
the rapidly approaching shadow was way faster than bronzor.
was he going to die here?
to a weak pokemon?
he refused.
no.
he needed to fulfil his goal.
at all costs.
no matter how many children die, no matter how many family's weeps.
he must achieve it.
