Although Hertwig had assured Samuel that there was plenty of time till the burial, Samuel filled the entire journal with his thoughts in 10 minutes. Nancy assisted him from time to time, but she was glad to see that his memory hadn't entirely failed him yet.
After writing his fading memories in the journal, Samuel seemed calmer than before. They could proceed with the burial.
As they made their way back inside the funeral house, Mikhail stood in front of them, saluting Samuel.
"Sir!" Mikhail smiled brightly, saluting to the only man he considered superior.
Samuel's eyes widened, "Mikhail?" He couldn't help but smile.
Nancy felt victory just by looking at his smile. Earlier, she had been wanting him to smile less. But after seeing him crying, she hoped he would only smile.
"You left me!" Mikhail complained playfully, "Traitor!"
What do you think is on Samuel's mind regarding his goal in life?
