As soon as the doctors stepped away, Lori broke from David’s grasp and rushed forward to hug her sister as best she could.
“It’s all right, Cami. You’re home. You’re free. There’s been a revolution. The government is falling and one of the generals confessed to helping with President Ascensio’s murder and framing you. You’re free and cleared. You’re home.” The words fell out of her mouth as Lori tried to answer all the questions she thought Cam was trying to ask.
Cam examined the gaunt face next to her. Lori’s eyes were just as beautiful as she’d remembered, but they looked sunken and dark rings surrounded them. “Cuanto tiempo…? Uh…” Cam stopped to try to translate what she wanted to say. “How long…?” she managed to mouth.
“You’ve been here about a week.” She looked back at David for confirmation.
“Five days,” David piped in, leaning forward to plant a light kiss on his sister-in-law’s forehead.
