Shit!
“Is that?” Tristan asked.
Pad bit his bottom lip. “Yes.”
“Who’s that?” Belinda interrupted.
“Hey, Wayne,” said Pad.
“Thought his name was Brayden,” Tristan mumbled.
“Hey, Pad. I figured this was your car with the ‘Flight Attendants Go Higher’ sticker. You want to grab a cup of coffee or get something to eat at Denny’s? For old times’ sake?”
Belinda and Tristan cocked their heads, almost in unison. Pad took the cue, and ignored the obvious disbelief he interpreted from their body language. “This is Belinda and Tristan.” Tristan shook Wayne’s hands first, smiling broadly as he did so. Belinda followed. Unlike Tristan she stepped back away from Wayne after she shook his hands. Tristan hovered closer.
“Nice to meet you both.”
“Thanks for the offer, Wayne. But I have to get home. It’s late. I’ve already had two cups of coffee.”
“Really? You still like pancakes with strawberries on top right?”
“Good memory.” Pad smiled. “But I can’t. I’m sorry.”
