[Bob’s penthouse, K Residence, KLCC]

Bob only managed to sleep at the break of dawn. He sat up the whole of last night in the dark, just staring out at the city lights and thinking about what he should do.

It was bright daylight when he got up. He slept through his alarm, and it was now past 12:30 p.m.

He realized he had a missed call then saw the message. Jackie had called him from HCMC Airport. He felt rather annoyed with himself.

He decided to brew some coffee and get his mind settled before calling Jackie. She’d be in the flight now.

He recalled what Jade had said in Reginald’s office.

*Having a relationship with my own niece… Is that what she said? It’d never be accepted and she’s right.*

He had thought about it all night and considered all the options.

*I couldn’t ask Jackie to forego her inheritance… In a relationship, how can one gain while the other loses? It’ll just come back to haunt us. The relationship may work for a while, but it will never last.*
