Chương 19: Ted's Base.
Ted took a look at Denzel's leg and he took off his face immediately, seeing that Denzel's leg was a mess.
"You okay?"
Denzel turned to Ted and smiled, he didn't expect Ted to be that nice to him, with all he had said to Ted.
"I am okay, Thanks".
It was only a matter of time before they got to Ted's home. Ted parked to car by the road and he got out first to help Denzel out.
"Wow, I am always amazed at the beauty of your house." Denzel said to Ted, looking up at the building that was ahead of them. It was Ted's house, a two storey with the house having a cream colour. It was well structured and beautiful, it was to be expected, since it was the house of the richest librarian.
"Denzel, let's go."
Ted held Denzel's right arm and placed it over his shoulder. They walked in through a gate and soon, they got to the entrance, and Ted opened the door.
"Denzel, you know, we've got lectures, I am going to cover up for us. Before I leave, I will help you take care of your wounds and you, rest here."
Denzel looked at Ted, wondering if he was stupid. His friends just died, him going to school now would just make people see him as a terrible person.
'I shouldn't talk, after all that happened the day after yesterday, I should just keep shut.'
Denzel was still wondering where Ted could be taking him to. They had gotten inside, and his room wasn't far off but Ted kept moving towards another door.
"Ted, where are we going?"
"Don't worry, you will when you see it... Oh, and have it in mind that you will see another side of me that you never knew."
"Huh?" Denzel said to himself, confused, at that point, he couldn't understand a single thing Ted said to him.
Soon they got to a wall in a room and that was the moment Denzel began to think Ted was psycho.
"A wall?"
"Chill, Denzel!" Ted yelled at Denzel, he was fed up as Denzel kept pestering him about where they were going to.
"This is my home, and I told you earlier that soon you would see another side of me you knew about." Ted added frowning his face.
"I am sorry"
The while place went silent and soon again, Ted felt uncomfortable at the fact that he might have been rude to Denzel who was always talking.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude to you."
Ted placed his hand on the wall and soon, he pressed a button, one which camouflaged with the colour of the wall and just as an elevator's door opens, the wall opened. They both got in and the door closed back and then Ted clicked a button in the elevator.
While all was going on, Denzel was completely dumbfounded, wondering what an elevator would have been doing inside a wall, and what more, the button in the elevator wasn't arranged in an ascending order, but rather it was descending, from 3 to 2 to 1. and the button Ted pressed was 1. It was where he called his base.
"Man, we are going down, what the hell?"
Ted gave Denzel a stern look and when Denzel saw him, he kept shut. Ted hit his hand on his head and looked at Denzel again.
"You haven't seen anything like this before?"
Hearing Ted's question, Denzel got confused, wondering if it was something common at Masan.
"Well I have seen lots of it, just thought the elevator might have been detached... Please hope you have a restroom down there?"
Ted kept wondering if Denzel was just stupid or if he really didn't know about it.
"Yeah there is, why'd you ask?"
"Dunno... I might want to visit it urgently and I can't be looking for some dumb button in the wall."
"You should be able to come back up yourself, it's just that way because no one needs to know that there is a basement."
The elevator door opened and they got out. The place was very cool, since it was at a low temperature, and as soon as Denzel got out, he was shocked.
"Ted, do you have a younger sibling or what?"
"No, this is just the other side of me you never knew about."
"For real? Wow, I never expected these from a person like you."
It was then it struck Ted, that Leia's betrayal must have done a great deal on Denzel. The normal Denzel would scream and make a fuss.
"And Ted, please, why is the room so cold?"
"Nothing much, you know, those machines need work better at low temperature."
The room, known to be 'Ted's base' was basically like a robotic engineer's work place. It was filled with different machines, each of it having it's different functions.
"Kayden, fix Denzel's leg."
As soon as Ted dropped Denzel on a cushion seat, a machine moved to them and it kind of creeped Denzel out.
"Wait, Ted, what's going on? like I mean what's with all these bots?"
"Told you already, the other side you didn't know about me. To be honest with you, I might be the dumbest guy out there."
"Huh-"
Kayden, the medical robot, could treat basically any illness, except from those that the cure haven't been found. It took Denzel's feet and began to roll off the bandage Denzel had used to wrap his legs, as it did, it stung Denzel and he reacted to the pain.
"Sorry man, but for a second, would you wear my glasses?"
"What for?"
"Just do it, I wanna show you something, more like proof to show you how dumb I am."
Denzel looked at Ted and wore it, and as soon as he did, he didn't see what was ahead of him anymore. Everything felt weird to him, he just didn't get the concept of what he saw before him.
"Are you sure this is an eyeglass? You aren't making any sense today."
Ted then collected the glasses back from him.
"Only I could understand it, like I mean, before I go into the exam hall, I have all my notes recorded into this glasses, and during exams, I just cheat."
It was then Denzel got half of what he had been saying, and he looked round the room once more.
"Ted, if you are going to school now, it would be best for you to leave now."
"Hmm, actually we still have about 2 hours and there was a lot I wanted to tell you."
"Okay then."
Kayden pulled out the bullet from his feet, it cleaned the blood and soon, it was done treating Denzel. Denzel felt a lot more better after he was treated and he layed on the seat.
"Denzel, what did you eat this morning?"
"Drank a cup of milk."
"Ohh! You must be hungry, Wait here."
Ted got out, and got back in with a cup of cereal, he then gave it to Denzel to eat.
"I am going to take a shower, then I will head to school, I would be out of here now, and if you need anything, feel free to go out and take anything you need... I'm out. See you later."
Ted got out of the room, and after some hours, Denzel got bored, he looked round the room and all he saw were computers and robots.
"Kayden? Kayden??" Denzel called out, wondering if the robot could keep him company.
