I opened the letter addressed to me and smiled. Seeing the handwriting of my mother brought me a feeling of loneliness that I haven’t felt in a long time. The letter seemed to be written in a rush since some of the words were almost close to scribbles, but I was able to make it out. She must have been really worried when the news about the fire spread out. I should write a quick letter to ease my parent’s worries.
Placing the letter down on the desk, I pulled out a blank piece of paper. I quickly wrote down the contents and folded the paper into an envelope. I turned to the maid who was fixing up Lady Rium’s bed.
“Miss Abigail?” I called out.
“Yes, Lady Reiré?”
“May you send this letter to my parents?”
“Of course!” She walked over to my desk and took the envelope from my hand. “Shall see to it that it’s delivered to your parents.”
I smiled. “Thank you.”
“Then I’ll send out the letter after I finish cleaning up this room.”
