Had he ever cared back then? No, never. Even with it being his own Tatsuya Clan setting the rules he couldn't be bothered to give a damn. 

If it wasn't for the fact his understanding of Necromancy was too shallow to be used in the True Martial World, he would be using it here as well, regardless of the thoughts of all of these people. 

Sure, maybe the Soul Reaper Taboo Sect was "horrible". Maybe they committed mass genocide and maybe they ripped families apart or sacrificed babies.
