Year 2012
The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, better known by its acronym S.H.I.E.L.D., is an intelligence agency founded by Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and Chester Phillips following World War II as the successor to the Strategic Scientific Reserve. Now, hustle-bustle was happening in the base of S.H.I.E.L.D. Inside the Base of S.H.I.E.L.D. physicist Dr. Erik Selvig is leading a team experimenting on the Tesseract. But today the Tesseract was showing signs of sudden activation without any reason, which put everybody into an unknown fear.
Outside the building a chopper has just landed, two figures came out: one is a girl, Maria Hill; and Director Nick Fury.
"How bad is it?" Fury asked Coulson, who was waiting for them at the helipad. They were making their way towards the lab where a group of scientists was observing the Tesseract.
"That's the problem, sir. We don't know. Dr. Selvig read energy from the Tesseract four hours ago."
"NASA didn't authorize Selvig to go to the test phase." Fury was clearly speaking, suspicion can be clearly seen on his face.
"He wasn't testing it. He wasn't even in the room. Spontaneous event." Coulson replied.
"What are the energy levels now?" Fury posed another question.
"Climbing. When Selvig couldn't shut it down, we ordered an evacuation."
"How long to get everyone out?"
"Campus should be clear in half an hour."
"Do better."
Coulson went away with other agents. As they entered the main gate.
Maria Hill asked Fury, "Sir, evacuation may be futile?"
"Should we tell them to go back to sleep?" Fury said in a rhetoric tone.
"If we can't control the Tesseract energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance." Said Maria Hill revealing her worries.
"I just need you to make sure the Phase 2 prototypes are shipped out." Fury told Agent Hill to take away the prototypes that they were prepared from the energy of the Tesseract. The analysis of Tesseract was in the hands of a special unit called PEGASUS.
"Until the world end, we will act as though it intends to spin on. Load every piece of Phase 2 on a truck and move on."
"Is that really a priority right now, Director?" Said Agent Hill with slight irritation.
"Yes! Every piece tech should be taken down below including every single page of information." Fury replied content on his command.
After speaking to Maria Hill, Fury went into the laboratory and Hill left with two officers to carry out the order she was given.
Fury went towards the scaffold where the Tesseract was kept in a circular-shaped machine.
[Talk to me, doctor.] The stern voice of Director Fury rings out in the hall where the Tesseract was being experimented on by Dr. Selvig.
[The Tesseract is misbehaving.] The doctor answered coming down from the platform where the Tesseract was put in a machine.
[Is that supposed to be funny?] Fury finds the tone of the doctor a bit different and asks. [That's not funny at all.] Says the doctor, while walking towards director Fury. Unknown lines of tension were visible on his face.
[The Tesseract is not only active but it's behaving, strangely.] The doctor says, guiding Fury towards the Tesseract where another scientist was trying to touch the Tesseract with a small iron rod.
[You should only pull the plug.] Said, Fury. Trying to say that the doctor should stop the power supply to the machine that was keeping the Tesseract. [We turned off the power but it is working on its own.] Replied the doctor walking ahead of Director Fury.
[But, the Tesseract is absorbing energy from space itself.] Tells Directly Fury trying to confirm his suspicion. [Where is agent Barton?] Asked Director Fury.
[The Hawk? Up in his nest, as usual.] Answered Doctor Selvig pointing his thumb towards the back. There was a man sitting on a platform that was much higher than the ground like a tower.
[Barton! report!] Commanded Director Fury towards the Hawkeye, Barton. Meanwhile, Barton slid down the rope and walked towards director Fury. [This cube, can be used as a doorway in space, doors open from both sides.] Answered Barton, while eyeing the Cube.
Suddenly the Tesseract cube started shining and shot a laser forward forming a wormhole, allowing a man in green robes with shining golden lines all over to appear in the hall. This man was LOKI.
....
Meanwhile, at the basement of the SHIELD base, Agent Hill along with a teenage red-eyed and red-haired boy in tight uniform was standing. She was tasked by Director Fury to secure the perimeters and evacuate people from the base.
"Agent Tennyson! Any progress?" Agent Hill asked the red-haired agent who was working on a tablet.
"I hacked all the cameras around the base up to 5 miles. But there is nothing suspicious. Only the imbalance of electricity caused by the tesseract." Agent Tennyson replied to her and showed a map and some visions of cameras on the tablet.
"Tesseract is showing signs of reactions for the first time." Agent Hill expressed her thoughts as a monologue.
"The reactions this time seem like the previous 0-8-4, Thor's hammer showed when Thor was around. I think probably something related to the Tesseract has reached the earth or is on its way to the earth. I also have another theory." Agent Tennyson replied while scratching his neck.
"Yeah! It is possible. No wonder you are a Level 6 Agent, Ben. Now, the problem is, the Tesseract is going to blow up any second and Director Fury wants to take every tech and information out instead of humans. Wait? Did you say a theory? What is it?" Agent Hill expressed her emotions while gritting her teeth in irritation and then asked with a raised eyebrow. Yes! You read absolutely right. The Level 6 Agent is none other than our hero, Benjamin Ethan Tennyson.
"Actually, when Captain American went after Redskull before disappearing. Redskull used Tesseract to open a portal and jumped into it." Tennyson explained the last adventure of Captain America during WW II. "So, the theory is that the Tesseract can open a gateway through space. I guess the gate can be opened from either side." Ben further explained. "But the difference is, it requires a switch to turn on. I think there is another object of the same origin."
"What? Are you saying, there could be another artifact as the Tesseract?" Maria asked, totally confused.
"Yes. It is possible." Ben answered plainly. "I believe, the artifact is from the same origin as the Tesseract. Therefore, it can react to its call."
Our conversation didn't even finish when suddenly, the ground started shaking. After a few moments, it stopped.
*GRUMMMM
"Hey! Maria, the energy signatures just stopped." Ben said Agent Hill, as he found the energy signatures vanishing from the map on the tablet.
"What? It just stopped?" Maria said with a raised eyebrow.
Ben and Maria were busy watching the laptop in Ben's hands.
"Someone's coming." Said Ben glancing towards the entrance of the base.
Agent Barton, along with a few more people, could be seen coming out via the gate.
"We need vehicles." Said Barton, pointing towards the cars. A guy in green robes followed him.
"The other guy seems suspicious," I muttered under my breath only for Maria to listen.
"Who's that?" She asked pointing towards Loki.
Just as she asked Barton intercoms of Ben and Maria made beeps and Fury's voice came, "Ben! Maria! Do you copy?" His voice was shaking.
"Barton took a turn." Said Fury through the intercom. When Barton heard this, they pointed their weapons towards Maria and Ben. Instantly Ben pushed Maria towards a corner, but he was hit by a bullet from Barton as well as an energy blast from Loki.
"Beeeen!!!" Maria cried in fear, as she saw Ben's body fly towards a nearby wall and lose consciousness, his body was strong enough to resist the energy blast but the bullet was inside. He can use the Mana Manipulation to boost his regeneration but it could raise suspicions.
Seeing this opportunity Barton and the crew took to heels.
Then Agent Coulson came out of the base along with a few men and followed after Barton. Meanwhile, Agent Hill took Ben into a car and sped outside, because the base was going to blow. Agent Hill sped her car out and followed after Coulson.
*BOOOOOOOM
With a booming sound, the whole base started collapsing at a rapid pace. Coulson and his men made it outside but their vehicle was hit by Loki's energy beam. Agent Hill's car was stuck under the debris just a few steps away from outside. She brought Ben out of the car and take him out to the clear.
"Director Fury, do you copy?" Coulson's voice came from the intercom.
"The Tesseract is with the hostile forces. All men down. Hill?" He answered Coulson and then asked Agent Hill.
"I am still under the debris. I need backup. Ben is seriously injured." Agent Hill replied Fury.
"I want every agent to look for that briefcase. Agent Coulson, take Agent Hill, and Tennyson to the Base's hospital." Fury ordered Coulson through the intercom.
"Tick this as a level 7 threat, right now. We are at WAR!"
