Chương 5: The Grand Admiral

Chimera, Orbit near Jupiter

Mitth'raw'nuruodo, better known as Thrawn, stood silently with his eyes closed in contemplation. The space elevator he was standing in moved upwards at a steady but rapid pace, his back straight as an arrow and his hands clasped behind his back.

The man stood in his crisp pressed white uniform, it was something he was proud to wear.

One of the few things the Chiss let himself feel proud of.

Thrawn was the very definition of the term 'military man', he behaved in a manner as if he was born to it.

In the military, finding a balance between the rigidity of military life and the creativity required to truly survive and thrive in such a dangerous and volatile place as a battlefield.

The Chiss was a pragmatist to his core, a man driven by logic and reason, not his emotions. Willing to perform acts that could be considered 'disdainful' where necessary in order to prevent greater disasters. He did not believe himself to be 'evil', Thrawn was after all not a man who truly believed in such concepts as good and evil.

Instead, all he cared about were the results of his assignments.

Born on the planet of Rentor, one of the two planets that is ruled by his species, a Chiss, a species known for its superior mind, only beaten by the minds of the Galvans in Galvan Prime, Thrawn is considered to be one of the greatest ever Chiss in history.

A superior mind compared to his brethren, with equally impressive physical capabilities rivalling even the Lord Commander of the Knights of Zakuul, Thrawn is an 'asset' that is highly respected, feared, and loved. Feared by his enemies as he never lost a battle in over 30 years and renowned for his extremely effective yet brutal battle tactics, scaring even Ronan the Accuser about 28 years ago, when the young Kree launched an attack on an envoy of Xandar in Imperial Space, scarring the Kree so much that the Accuser refused to enter Imperial Space fearing that Thrawn will hunt him down.

Thrawn's final words to the rebel general Zod, a Kryptonian who tried to launch a coup againts the Eternal Throne about 25 years ago simply because he felt that he could and being a Kryptonian means that he is stronger than a Zakuulnian such as Thexan, was Thrawn's most famous victory in his distinguished military career.

When Thrawn heard that Zod's rebel fleet is surrounding Zakuul, Thrawn immediately ordered the entire Eternal Fleet to defend the capital, while threatening Zod and rumours has it that Zod peed his pants after hearing Thrawn's threats, "I will deal with you personally, when I return"

Indeed, the Chiss showed no mercy towards the rebels. Of the troops that participated in that failed coup, all of them are killed with no mercy while the duel between General Zod and the then Admiral Zod was famously immortalized in the song "The Fall of Gods" and he is also trusted by Emperor Thexan as being one of the very few that could match the Emperor in intelligence and battle tactics.

The failed coup is also the showcase of Thrawn's sheer loyalty to the Emperor as when Thexan heard about the coup (the Emperor was outworld that time), he ordered a harsh retribution towards Kryptonians and Krypton itself, and Thrawn did something that no one ever think of.

Using the newest product developed by the R&D of The Star Forge, the Red Matter, developed by Chief Scientists Azmuth of Galvan Prime and Spock of Vulcan, Thrawn, after evacuating the Kryptonians from their home planet, used the devastating firepower of multiple Star Destroyers to bombard Krypton in front of the heavily wounded Zod who was kept alive only to watch his home planet getting destroyed. After digging a hole using the bombardment, Thrawn dropped a vial of Red Matter to the core of Krypton, causing a chain reaction and the creation of a black hole in the core of Krypton, and several minutes later, Krypton is swallowed by the black hole, leaving only a supernova in its place. This caused the mighty Zod to break down and after seeing his home getting destroyed, Thrawn killed him and sent his body to be swallowed by the supernova.

"Let this be a reminder to anyone who dared to stand againts the Dragon of Zakuul" Thrawn's famous words that was broadcasted not only to the citizens of the Empire, but also to the entire universe.

The destruction of Krypton was noted by many historians to be one of the most memorable moment in the history of the universe, gaining attention of bascially everyone, Ayesha, the leader of Sovereign was afraid of Thrawn, a man she previously insulted to be 'too alien' and 'blue monster' when he made headlines as the first ever Chiss Admiral of the Eternal Empire. Thanos was intriged by Thrawn, as someone who is capable of causing that much damage to one of the most powerful species in the Universe. Odin was outraged since Asgard and Krypton are basically old rivals yet they respected each other, and the fact that Frigga, his wife, is a quarter Kryptonian since her grandfather was a Kryptonian.

Other governments such as Nova Empire wanted Thrawn to be punished for his role in the destruction of Krypton, while the Kree held him in high respect despite the grudge they have againts him for causing the deaths of hundreds of Accusers.

But Emperor Thexan instead promoted him and named him into the Hall of Heroes, as in his defence "Thrawn protected the Empire againts its enemies, why should I punish him for delivering judgement towards those who wants us to fall?"

Ever since that day, Thrawn gained a reputation matched only by few.

Despite that, in the beginning, Thrawn is considered as an outcast for Chiss. Chiss' normal more cautious approach towards enemies means that most Chiss officer in the Navy only received the rank Vice-Admiral and many believed that Thrawn's tactics were too aggressive for traditional Chiss doctrine in warfare and his tendency to launch pre-emptive strikes against enemies of the Chiss was not looked at positively by his brethren and many began to distance themselves from him.

But he has proved them all wrong as the Chiss had risen through the ranks at an absolutely staggering rate.

Winning every battle he ever fought in with stunning displays of tactics and courage. His subordinates grew to love him as a commander, more than willing to ignore and they also respect him despite his race's steriotype of being passive and usually uncaring attitude towards other species in the face of not only his tactical brilliance but also his treatment of his soldiers. The Chiss took time out of his busy schedule to walk amongst his own troops, forming a bond with them beyond that of other Imperial officers.

From the captain of a small ship, all the way up to the highest position in the Eternal Fleet, the Chiss has risen beyond what many believed possible.

All his endless hours of hard work and hard won victories had culminated in his current position.

Grand Admiral, the first ever Chiss to hold such position,

The highest position within the newly founded Eternal Fleet.

Its Commander-in-chief.

A position he took great pride in, he had found his place in the Empire and sworn his loyalty to the Emperor and his cause.

And now, his Emperor has ordered him to 'display a show of force' towards the people of Terran and to remind Odin that the Dragon of Zakuul does not take a challenge to his rule quietly

And Thrawn will make sure these humans from this backwater world never forget.
