It was now early summer and we were preparing to accommodate the summer tourists to our inn. We all woke up early and had a meeting on everything we should be wary of while going through the season, such as the need to provide summer based food or checking out destinations to advertise. Yes, the inn is popular enough that we're asked to advertise local spots for people.
But just when Aloe and I were going to go out to check out the spots we were asked to advertise, the inn doors opened and Motoaki-san accompanied by a tall, orange-haired girl came in.
I could already guess what was going on before he even started talking.
He introduced the girl as Kiryu Coco, yet another talent that left (or rather was about to leave) Hololive and once again he asked if I could take her in as an employee.
Unlike Aloe, Coco didn't seem to be in a bad place. She was looking around the place like a child brought to an amusement park for the first time. So at least I could deduce she wasn't here to heal.
Since it was a busy day, I told Coco that she'll be interviewed by Aloe as I needed to go and talk to the locals. The girl quickly agreed, so I gave Aloe a quick nod and she led Coco to one of the rooms in the back for an interview.
I then turned my attention to Motoaki-san and asked if there were any other things he wished to request and wouldn't you know it: there were.
Judging from how deflated he sounded, it couldn't wait another day so we headed to my 'office', which I barely used.
There he asked, no, more like begged me to take the rest of Hololive in, but not as employees but as tenants. He wanted to rent the inn for his talents. He was even on his hands and knees, forehead pressed against the floor as he continuously requested for my help.
It was a sight alright, but one I didn't want to see, so I scolded him. I told him not to beg, especially to someone who was not the CEO of a company. Though that fact he had to do that, said a lot about his situation.
I asked him to explain why he was so desperate and he told me that he wanted to work on the company in regards to their performance for their talents. Seeing as it had been a rough year for Cover I wasn't surprised, I may not know much but I kept up with some news and got wind of the complications Motoaki-san and the company had undergone. I guess he wanted to give his talents a break from all of that while he sorted through their internal struggles.
Watching him explain was rather heartbreaking, but I held in as much as I could so that I was able to look at it objectively. After all, the inn is still a business and I needed to keep it running.
After he finished his explanation, I thought about whether it was worth taking the girls in or direct them to someplace else. Motoaki-san did say he was willing to pay for their lodgings, but it wasn't just the pay, it was also the standing of the inn. I couldn't just close it because of these girls, a lot of high paying entities sometimes rented the place for meetings or get-togethers. But I did feel bad and after taking a long look at the man in front of me, I could see he was at his wit's end:
With his messy hair, bagged eyes and dishevelled attire, he looked like he came out of a post-apocalyptic film.
Still, I wasn't so sure about it. But luckily I did remember one thing that came with the inn when I inherited it: an old building. From what I could remember at the time it was big enough to be a dormitory, so instead of accommodating the girls in the inn, I could place them there. Of course it would've needed some renovation, but I had some connections that could easily fix that.
I told Motoaki-san about this and he didn't seem to hate the idea, sure it wasn't his original plan but it's not like he could do anything about it. He was just happy the girls got a place to relax.
We decided to finalise the entire thing another day since I needed to clean up the building first, but we agreed that I would reserve that building for Hololive.
With that settled we both left the office only to find that Aloe and Coco has yet to arrive. I told Motoaki-san he's free to wait for Coco in the inn, while I excused myself to go tell Aloe that I would go ahead and do what we were setting out to do.
Heading to the room I took a quick peek inside first and was delighted to see the scene of Aloe interviewing Coco. Considering she mostly shadowed me and some other employees during interviews, it was a nice surprise to see her put what she picked up into practice.
Knocking on the door I peeked my head in and apologised for interrupting, I then told Aloe I was going to set off first so she should take her time with the interview. Before I left though also said to the succubus she was free to follow me or stay in the inn and she quickly expressed how she wanted to join me afterwards. So I told her to just find me when she's done.
With that out of the way, I finally said my goodbyes and went out to finally get the task I wanted to do finished.
First of, thank you for 1k reads, I did not expect to reach that number considering how small this story is, but I am truly grateful and I hope everyone is enjoying these little entries.
So begins Coco's introduction and honestly, I'm nervous at how I portrayed her in the upcoming entries and conversation, it's less emotional and dramatic. I made her interactions more casual.
It's the first time I've written about an event that's recent, so I was trying to keep it in mind, but not press on it too hard and instead kinda showed that despite her departure she's still pressing on. But I honestly don't know if that's a good route.
I'll let you all be the judge of that.
That's it from me this week, once again thank you for the 1k reads, I hope you all enjoyed this entry and I'll see you all next time.
