Well, we now had to deal with the fact that our families were here with us for the night. I knew that they were going to come for these surprise visits. It was why Makai and I had made guest rooms for them. We needed to make sure that they had their own space when they just decided that they needed to check up on us.

It was understandable, to an extent at least. Makai was an only child. Well, he had been until they adopted Ryan. And even though Makai's parents were gone a lot when he was a kid, he was still their only little baby that had grown up to be a man like this. They were going to miss him. They were going to worry about him and want to make sure that he was doing OK.
