Rai's POV
"My lord, we have arrived." A château caught my attention as I peered out the window. We came to a stop right at the door where the butlers and maids were waiting to enter.
They bowed their heads and said, "Welcome, Master and young master." I fastened the cloak over my face and followed the count and his son outside.
"Welcome, Master and young master, to Mausworth Manor. I am Wimindel, the head butler of this manor." The butler introduced himself.
"Prepare the most luxurious room." The count said.
"Will you be resting there, master?" Wimindel asked.
"No, he will sleep there." The head butler looked in my direction with a confused face.
"May I ask who he is?"
"He is a very special guest. Treat him with the utmost care." The count answered with his serious face.
"As you wish, master. Then kindly follow me." The butler said and Killian gave me a glance and secretly bowed his head and followed his father and Wither. The count headed in a different direction.
They were gone for a whole week, which must have meant they were very busy. Fortunately, they have a house close to the Thianven town.
"We're here." The head butler opened the door.
"This will be your room. "I was taken aback when I walked in. The entire room is filled with gold. The walls and ceiling are covered in sparkling diamonds. The chandelier is adorned with crystals. The view of the outside makes this the ideal place to stay. It's understandable why this location is heavily guarded given the number of priceless items inside.
I can't stand this place; it's too much, but why did they force me to stay in such a lavish room?
"Please ring the bell that is on the desk if you need anything." I stiffly nod at him.
"Then I'll be heading out now," he said, closing the door behind him. I took off my clothes and cloak and headed to the bathroom, where I spent fifteen minutes submerging myself in the bathtub.
I got up and covered myself with a robe before opening my bag and taking some clothes. Once I was dressed, I went out onto the balcony to appreciate the beautiful view.
I inhaled deeply and raised my gaze to the sky.
'Knock, knock.'
"Come in." I went inside when I saw Butler Wither.
"My lord, my master is waiting for you." He said.
"*Sigh* Lead the way."
The butler led the way to the county office, and I went with him. But the corridors get darker the further we go. We strolled for a few minutes until we came to a stop in front of the door. I was the first to enter after the butler unlocked the door.
I noticed the count and his serious expression as they sat on the couch. They got up and fell to their knees when they saw me.
They all said, "Welcome, my lord," and led me to a couch where they sat across from one another. It appears that they were engaged in a meaningful discussion before my arrival.
"*Fake cough* So why did you call me?" I asked but they were just looking at each other.
"....."
Why are they not speaking?
"They want to ask you a question, my lord, but they are hesitating." Wither answered instead.
"You can freely ask me anything. You don't need to hesitate." I said.
"T-then I'll ask first." There's no need to be nervous, you know.
"Go ahead." I sat lazily and stared at Killian.
"I-if you are an Alexio, where is the Alexio kingdom right now?" Killian asked.
"..."
"Why didn't we hear any news about the fallen kingdom?" The count added.
"...."
"How did the kingdom of Alexio end up?" I sighed aloud and closed my eyes, but after a moment I opened them and took off my hood so they could see my full face. I can tell how serious they are.
"That place is doing well. I have been taking care of it, after all. However, I am unable to reveal where that location vanished. Since I promised someone that I would keep the location of that place a secret."
"So, you're saying that the Alexio kingdom's whereabouts will remain secret for eternity." the count said, but I shake my head, disagreeing.
"Secrets don't stay that way forever. I'm aware that eventually everyone will find out about me and utilize my presence to oppress the weak. Furthermore, I do not want this continent and the dark continent to start fighting again."
"Dark continent?" Killian tilted his head.
"I never heard of that continent before." The count said, ready to ask a question.
"Master, the lord must mean the Disas continent." Wither said.
"So that continent's name was Disas?" I was amused by how they named it as Disas.
"Yes, my lord." The count answered.
"But my lord, why are you calling it the dark continent?" Killian asked a question.
"I found it in the book." I said
"What kind of book is it?"
"Despite the book's age, its quality is excellent because of the magic they used to cover it. However, I believe it to be the oldest book in the entire nation."
"Perhaps, could we see it?" Their eyes were sparkling so much.
Their expressions darkened when I said, "I don't know, since it belongs to that place, and it is hard to exploit things from there to here."
Their faces lit up when I said, "I can make you a replica of that book."
"But it might be hard for you, my lord." The count said.
"It's fine, I have a photographic memory." I gathered my thoughts, used my magic to create a duplicate, and gave the book to the count.
"Thank you so much, my lord." Killian was super excited to read the book.
I waved my hand, and they read the book, saying, "It's nothing." They looked at me and asked some questions after they finished reading the book.
"Why did the Alexio kingdom suddenly disappear?"
"Why didn't they choose to stay?" Questions started to pop up on their mouths, but thankfully, I answered most of it.
"That location lost its reason to remain in the human world after the war ended and everything came back to normal, so it fled behind the shadows to defend this continent. Previously, we ruled this continent, but we left because it was becoming more dangerous for us to stay."
"You can say that the Alexio became a sacred place and is now a resting place for the mythical creatures."
"...."
"..."
"Do you mean others still exist?" The count asked once again.
