With such a large number of people arriving at once, the already nearly full restaurant was instantly overflowing. Zeff ordered the "fins" to be raised and for the waiters to start bringing out spare chairs, tables, umbrellas, tablecloths, and dishes. An incredible commotion ensued, with one small untouched island standing out clearly amidst the chaos, where a tearful Sanji was kneeling and pressing his hands to the floor. This was his personal Hell. Surrounded by the most beautiful ladies, none of them paid him the slightest attention as if he didn't exist. And he knew exactly why. Or rather, he knew precisely whose doing it was!!! The damned Monster had entered the restaurant as he now almost always did — arm in arm with two beauties. This time, the difference was that none of the accompanying beauties were his beloved Nami-swan. This both greatly pleased and deeply saddened Sanji. On the one hand, he was glad that his incomparable Nami-swan was not with that damned bastard, but on the other hand, it deeply saddened him because his adored Nami-swan certainly did not arrive today. If it were otherwise, that damned bastard would have been arm in arm with her!
"Sanji, how's it going?" the Monster stopped in front of him.
Sanji nearly vomited blood upon hearing that hated voice.
"Still a virgin? Well, don't worry, there'll be a party on your street one day!" the Monster added sympathetically.
At that moment, Sanji indeed vomited blood.
"Maybe by then you'll learn to cook properly. You'll never reach Zeff's level, but at least people won't vomit from your food" that would be quite an improvement!
Sanji vomited blood again. He had no idea how that damned bastard managed to arrange that damned incident if he wasn't even close to his cooking or to the people at the other tables. But now that damned bastard reminded him of that damned incident every time they had a new damned meeting!!!
"Or are you still aiming for your old man's place? I don't understand you. Do you really dislike this restaurant so much that you only dream about it closing?"
He's going to kill him!! This time he's definitely going to kill that damned bastard!!!
"Who's that?" a male voice, which Sanji had never heard before, asked.
Lifting his head, Sanji, drenched in bitter tears, stared up at a newcomer with an incredibly long nose, someone he had never seen before. The unnaturally long nose was immediately forgotten when Sanji saw that the new guy, just like the damned Monster, was standing arm in arm with two girls. Sanji turned his gaze back to the floor, and he vomited blood for the third time. Life is unfair.
"Shame to admit, but this is our family cook," the Monster sighed heavily.
"We have a cook?" the long-nosed one seemed genuinely surprised.
Sanji took a second to realize the oddity of the newcomer's question, then he looked up again, now more attentively. Dark brown overalls, light brown plaid bandana, and matching shoes.
"You found us a new family member?" Sanji asked involuntarily, forgetting himself for a moment.
"Hi, I'm Condoriano," the newcomer, introducing himself as Condoriano, extended his hand to the blonde, as if there was nothing unusual about Sanji kneeling, crying, and vomiting blood.
Sanji had never heard a stranger name, but shook the extended hand without hesitation. To his surprise, the long-nosed guy's handshake was much firmer than one might suspect, given his skinny frame with barely noticeable muscles.
"This is our sniper," Luffy nodded. "Actually, his name is not Condoriano but "Mad Eye" Chingachgook, the right hand of the "Great Serpent" who has terrorized the Mohican Island for many years.
Of course, this was none other than Usopp, so the long-nosed guy didn't flinch when Luffy spouted all this nonsense with a serious face.
"I'm not proud of it, it was a shitty story, Usopp, now Condoriano, sighed sadly, causing the girls standing next to him to sympathetically pat his shoulders and head... From the incredibly intense feeling of envy, Sanji nearly vomited blood for the fourth time in a row.
"Chingachgook wants so badly to forget his dark past that he decided to take a new name, although it's a terrible shame by the standards of where he grew up,' Luffy continued joyfully. "Moreover, Chingachgook is very proud, so I had to promise him that if he could defeat Zoro, he would immediately become captain."
Firm handshake or not, Sanji eyed the skinny guy in brown overalls with great skepticism, who visibly paled at the mere mention of Zoro. Sanji appreciated the joke. And it wasn't even about Zoro. That damned Monster could be a damned bastard, but he couldn't disrespect him. For that damned Monster to take orders from someone? With his strength and his twisted, rotten brain? That damned bastard had once again demonstrated his vile sense of humor... which was quite amusing if it wasn't directed at him. But in those practically sacrilegious thoughts, Sanji would never admit, even on his deathbed. That damned bastard certainly didn't need any extra encouragement to showcase his damned vile sense of humor!
"I didn't get it, if he's our cook, then why wasn't he with you when you came to my island?" Sanji asked, clearly hurrying to change the subject from Zoro, about the newly introduced Chingachgook, now Condoriano. "And why was he never mentioned in the newspapers? Or is he new like me?"
"He's more of an old-timer, Sanji joined our family after Zoro, and before Ryu and Yosaku appeared."
"Part of the family?" The blonde finally got up, wiping blood from his lips with his sleeve, and put a cigarette in his mouth "Who told you that I'm part of your damn family?" lighting up and taking his first drag, Sanji asked, dissatisfied.
"Um... actually, you just said that yourself, didn't you?" Usopp... pardon, Condoriano, remarked perplexedly.
"What did I say?" Sanji raised an eyebrow in question.
"That you belong to our family."
"When did I say that?"
"When you asked Luffy about me."
"And what does that prove? I just asked."
" 'Did you find us a new family member' — those were your words, not mine."
"You have serious hearing problems!" Sanji feigned ignorance. "I would never say that!"
"By the way, I heard it too," like a diligent student, Luffy raised his hand, supporting the new Condoriano with satisfaction.
"Your words are worth nothing" Sanji immediately brought him down to earth. "You always say only what benefits you and act only when, again, it benefits you. In other words: trusting you is self-disrespect!"
