As in the case with Nami, one gang of complete idiots easily robbed the "Thing" - in fact, the girl herself never had any problems with this, - the difficulties began later. And by the word "difficulties" it was meant that Luffy had dropped in to see the bandits who had robbed the "Thing". How he invariably "payed visit" to Nami, despite all the tricks the girl used when covering her tracks. But unlike Nami, the bandits were not in the same family with Luffy. Nami was able to appreciate the difference almost immediately. And although by that time she had long believed that all the money on which she could lay her hand belonged to her, after the incident with the bandits, one exception was immediately made to this rule. And the exception was: "Luffy's money belonged to Luffy." Point. Moreover, more and more idiots, time after time encroaching on Luffy's money, served as an excellent incentive for Nami to ensure that she does not for a moment forget about one single exception, personally introduced into her own developed rule. It was only later that she realized a couple of important truths.
First, the Iron Box and the hook on the "Thing" did not symbolize a safe and a lock at all, as she initially believed, but a real mousetrap. Cheese in which cases with money and numerous treasures, and the smell of cheese appearance and the inscription on the door. And, as in the case of the mousetrap, the owner did not need to guard the mousetrap itself, hence the pretended absence of any treasure guard. Why protect, when the victim, as in the case of a real mousetrap, instantly doomed himself to death, as soon as she touched the cherished "cheese"? Luffy's Observation haki has successfully replaced the world's strongest safes. And then, when the "mice" came across, the impudent and contented cat came, in the role of which was Luffy, and the "mice" died.
In extremely rare cases, the "mice" still saved their lives, but at least they became very, very much poorer and remain in debt. In a big debt. After all, everyone in the world knows that human life is priceless ... at least it was this fact that Luffy always pressed especially strongly when it came to the ransom for someone's life. And, at one time, as one of such ransoms, the "mice" caught by Luffy brought him a fruit in their paws for Nami. In general, it took a while, but the girl realized that this whole situation with the Iron Box and its contents was nothing more than another way for Luffy to fill his life with additional fun. Fun in his understanding, of course.
The second truth we realized was the fact that if you are a part of the Straw Hat family, then you can safely shake money with Luffy, and nothing will happen to you ... Okay, let it not "shake", but you could ask for sure! However, even with such a revelation, "Luffy's money belonged to Luffy," which, again, meant that if you were not a member of the Straw Hat family, it would be impossible to steal money from Luffy and go unpunished. Unbreakable law of the universe. And Nami, four years ago, was definitely not a part of the mentioned family. And, being an extremely smart girl, as well as repeatedly observing with her own eyes what happens to people who decided to covet Luffy's money, she very vividly, perhaps even too vividly, imagined what could happen to her, get to her four years ago, her current captain. And the guys around us also perfectly imagined it, and therefore:
- She stole money from him, - Zoro said, staring blankly in front of him.
- She stole from him ... - Johnny went to a new circle, but was finally interrupted by his captain.
- Oh, come on! - Luffy exclaimed slightly annoyed. - Don't talk about it like the end of the world has come! Anything happens in life.
This phrase still managed to stir up Nami a little:
- Yeah ... the end of the world did not come ... ha ha ... but I could ... ha ha ... the end ... ha ha ...
- Nami, forget it already, - Luffy advised her with a heavy sigh. - Consider that it was a long time ago and not true ... all the more so it almost is. Maybe then I got so angry that I fell asleep every day thinking about how I would cut you into pieces, but I calmed down after only a couple of months ... I probably shouldn't have said this now, right? - not addressing anyone in particular, the guy added, as soon as Nami's eyes rolled back, and she herself toppled back, falling from a chair onto the sand in a deep fainting.
As a result, Luffy had to end up making dinner by himself. Which he did. After stirring up Nami and giving her valeriana, and giving the guys a box of booze and removing all the rest away so that they could not get drunk until they were completely unconscious, hoping to forget the revelations of their captain. Tomorrow morning there was a performance, and Luffy was not going to go on it alone just because his entire family had surprisingly weak nerves. And this is after all they have experienced? A shame! Moreover, it is always more boring to be alone than in a company.
And Luffy, all evening, had to silently put up with the fact that all the guys diligently kept between him and Nami. And they looked at him with such eyes, as if he was about to pounce on her and rip her head off. Even Zoro, who almost always supported his captain in everything, did not take his eyes off Luffy and never for a moment removed his hand from the hilt of his most skillfully forged katana. The one in the white scabbard.
Luffy, in response to the "gratuitous bullying" from his family, all evening and part of the night strenuously pretended to be an offended, misunderstood and generally undeservedly accused person. And he did it with the expected success. With about the same success as the famous maniac-killer caught at the crime scene, smeared with blood from head to toe, among the streets littered with corpses, and hundreds of witnesses unanimously claiming his guilt. In general, the evening was a success. Yes, and the performance scheduled for the morning also passed not without a spark ... both in the literal and figurative sense of the word.
- He's well prepared, - Luffy said first when he finished evaluating all of Usopp's preparations with the binoculars. - His head is clearly working.
It took place on a thick branch of a very tall tree, on which, under the wise leadership of Luffy...
- I want an observation post, on tha-aa-t tree!
- Luffy, none of us know ...
- Don't care! I want an post!
- Luffy ...
- Want!
... a makeshift observation post was built, capable of accommodating all the Straw Hats at the same time without any problems. It is not clear just why it is so big: Zoro and Yosaku bailed on everything immediately after its construction.
