Chương 49: Part eight - Demons of East Blue 11/11

- Do you have the power of the Devil Fruit? - Zoro raised an eyebrow.

- Hey, they don't know what the Observation haki is, so it's easier to say right away that I have a fruit than to rely on the possession of some unknown powers. The people in East Blue have a hard time believing even in Devil Fruits, let alone anything else. Haki is the lot of the New World, the second half of the Grand Line, but not East Blue.

- So, we will also wait for the marines so that the remaining pirates do not escape? - Johnny asked after Zoro. - Or so that the pirates do not give the marines in the teeth when they do arrive? I think, despite our best efforts, there are still enough pirates left to bring a huge bunch of problems to the marines who will arrive at our call.

- Which in turn will seriously damage our image, - Luffy nodded. - And we need to maintain the image until the very end, then the first bounty for your heads will have to be such ... such ... in short, such that when meeting you, who does not shit himself right away, will catch a heart attack later.

- But for me personally, I'm more interested in what for, did you need a horn at all, if you can make your voice sound louder than any horn without any problems? - Yosaku asked in turn.

- It's clear that I looked much cooler with a megaphone than I would have looked without it, - the guy pouted in response, as if Yosaku had to think of something so obvious himself.

Luffy's answer was left uncommented. There was not a single fool in the audience willing to challenge Luffy's words. Why start a deliberately lost argument? Then the guy himself asked the question, only on a completely different topic:

- And how do you like our today's raid? - Luffy asked without hiding his interest. - Did you make any conclusions?

- If we forget about the moral side of the issue, then everything turned out ... everything turned out to be much easier than I thought, - Yosaku admitted first.

- I agree, - Johnny nodded. - Frankly speaking, now it seems to me that I would be able to cope here alone, - the guy shared his impressions. - Of course, from me, almost certainly, someone would have managed to escape on ships, but generally speaking, I could well defeat everyone alone.

- But I'm not sure about myself, - Yosaku shook his head when Johnny fell silent. - I have no square attacks in my arsenal, and to kill more than ten thousand people one after another… and sink the ships, I wouldn't have time for all. No, I couldn't do it alone. In the best case, everyone would just run away from me, stupidly sailing away on ships.

- Zoro? - tilted his head slightly to Luffy's side. - What do you think?

- As for me, nothing would have changed, even if I were alone today, and there are five times more pirates. Zero multiplied by a factor of 100 is still zero. And today I understood this perfectly well.

- But now you, at least, will no longer cry out loudly and stamp your feet when it comes to fighting thousands or even tens of thousands again - Luffy said, pleased. - By the way, about crybabies, I'll go and call Nami.

Then everything went as expected. For half an hour, allotted by Luffy to surrender to the scattered pirates, about two thousand people went to the coast. However, not all turned out to be intelligent enough - some still decided to test (try?) their luck and hide. However, the cannonballs from the sky, fired by Luffy, quickly put everything in their places, and Johnny and Yosaku were horrified to realize that there was at least more than one such monster in the world. There, on the coast, when they first saw their captain throwing cannonballs, they somehow completely lost sight of what Luffy was shouting about his grandfather. As it turned out, it was with him that Luffy spied on the "supersonic attack with cannonballs." And although Johnny and Yosaku heard about their captain's grandfather before, only this time did they find out that Luffy's grandfather had a strength comparable to that of his monstrous grandson. The guys hastened to pour such revelations with a large amount of alcohol, which the frightened pirates dug out for them from the rubble of the fort.

Luffy, don't be a fool, harnessed all the surrendered pirates to collect the bodies of their comrades, as well as all the weapons, valuables and food. Two thousand people working together and driven by fear is a force to be reckoned with in any work. By the time the first ship of the Marines arrived, which sailed closer to lunchtime, even faster than Luffy predicted, the surrendered pirates had not only completed all their tasks, but even slightly exceeded them. All the weapons were collected in one pile, valuables were dragged into another - there was not much of this stuff, - the food was piled in the third, and the bodies of the dead pirates were laid in long rows, on more or less survived sections of the coast. And although Luffy, when he gave the order to collect the bodies, meant only the bodies of the pirates on the coast, slope and fort, the captured pirates went even further and dragged their dead comrades from the water. So, by the time the coast was flooded with the soldiers of the Marines, the picture appeared to them unforgettable.

Unfortunately for Luffy, at the very moment when he was about to have a good time with the Marines who had arrived on the island, one captain, well known to the entire Straw Hat team, broke off all the buzz in the bud. The limp marine, after their first meeting, clearly set himself the goal of keeping the hunters out of his sight, so they crossed paths with him much more often than Luffy would have liked. And it is quite understandable why. The captain, not only messed up Luffy every time, preventing him from mocking the other Marines, but also, apparently, intended to lead him out into the "clean water".

- Ugh ... - Luffy grimaced, under his mask of Zorri, as soon as he felt the familiar aura on one of the patrol ships. - What the fuck have you forgotten here, old man? - The guy asked discontentedly, after some time, when the limp captain went down to the shore.

- I just thought that since you really tried to make an effort to ensure that I was not here, I just have to sail here ... You really thought that I would not know if you only warn those captains of the Marines with whom I on knives? Finally, show respect for your elders. You've known my name for a long time, so address me accordingly, damn kid. And what kind of daub did you put on yourself instead of a face? Are you trying to look prettier than you really are? I will not argue, any daub is more beautiful than your real face, but no matter what mask you put on, your disgusting muzzle under it will not go anywhere.

Zoro, Johnny and Yosaku became sharply interested in what was happening somewhere in the distance, diligently hiding their expressions from Luffy's eyes - God forbid, if he saw their smirks, then they are fucked up. Fully fucked up.

- Old man, I understand everything. - Walking up to the captain, he lightly patted Luffy on the shoulder. - You are an old, sick bastard, and for a long time it does not matter to you whether you live or die, but then at least take pity on your people. Because if I still do not hold back and beat you to death with your stic, then I will have to kill all your people too.

- Oh, what a speech, - the captain shook his head. - Someone outsider, who heard your words and does not know that you are all hunters here, could take you ... well, I don't even know ... perhaps he could take you for ... a gang of pirates, I would say. That would be an embarrassment, right? The most famous pirate hunters themselves were mistaken for pirates.

Crunch!

- Oh, what a shame, - Luffy said in a mock sympathy, looking down at the fallen captain as his cane "completely unexpectedly" snapped in half. - Looks like the tree was old, it is better to keep track of such things, better! And who knows? You'll go like this, your cane will break, fall and accidentally break it ... well, I don't even know ... perhaps you could well break your neck ... I would say-A-A-A-AL !!! THE FUCKING BASTARD WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING ?! - Luffy hopped on one leg, holding on to the bloodied other with his hands.

- Oh, sorry, sorry, I'm so clumsy, - the captain got to his feet with a rather grin, holding the bloody half of his cane in his hand, which he drove into Luffy's leg. - I recently began to see so badly, so I missed. Forgive the old man, you yourself said that I was old and sick, and now also blind. So there's nothing you can do about it.

And it was in this spirit that the next half hour passed while the lieutenant-assistant captain wrote out all the necessary documents, thanks to which the Straw Hats could receive a reward for Craig's head. And not only for him. As it turned out, among the dead and living pirates there were enough people with awards for their heads, so that the total amount of the team's remuneration came close to one hundred million belli. Almost all the surviving pirates of the East Blue really nailed to Craig. When the lieutenant brought all the necessary papers, and Luffy saw the final amount of their reward, the guy cheered up so much that if he did not forgive the captain for his crippled leg, then at least he was ready to temporarily close his eyes to it. And this is already an achievement in itself - Luffy was still a vengeful bastard. Although, again, given that Luffy "kept" the Observation haki even in his sleep, this whole situation with a wounded leg looked incredibly suspicious.

Having received all the necessary papers, loaded a couple of boats with various goods and discreetly wrote "Old Goat" on the captain's cape, while the annoying Luffy captain communicated with his subordinates, the Straw Hats departed from the island. Leaving behind mountains of corpses and, in fact, announcing to the whole world that there were no more pirates in East Blue. Tomorrow's newspapers definitely promised to be interesting.
