Chương 64: An old history

Touya followed Iris through Opelucid City as the latter led the way.

Touya just walked calmly with his hands in his pockets as he looked around him curiously about the buildings and the people until suddenly Iris said.

"Hey I'm curious, why did you seem so upset that time? You seem very calm now" Iris said as she walked backwards to look at Touya in confusion.

"They hurt Bel and let's just say I don't take very well when someone hurts my loved ones, sorry" Touya said scratching his neck with a bit of pity.

"Mmmm, I forgive you! But you will always be killer look to me" Iris said with a mocking smile making Touya only smile awkwardly.

"Hey hey, what do you think of dragon-type pokemon?" Iris asked energetically as she kept walking backwards.

"I have never had one, after all they are very difficult to find, but I doubt that they are my style, after all they are very energetic and fierce and I am not compatible with that" Touya said with a thoughtful tone while looking a little worried about the little care of Iris.

"Ehhhh, you are boring, I love them I even dislike the cold just like them!" Iris said looking at Touya with indignation and saying the last with pride and energy.

"So you don't like the cold huh? We are already on the wrong path" said Touya also looking at her with indignation.

They both looked at each other with indignation trying to see who the winner was until Iris said.

"*Pfffff* At least I don't look like a serial killer" Iris said with a victorious and mocking smile.

"Ohh Really? Well, at least I don't have an upcoming date with the floor" Touya said with a calm and innocent smile.

"What do you mea-?" Iris said without being able to finish since she tripped over a bump from walking backwards, falling like a sack of potatoes.

"Brat 0, Touya 1" Touya said walking past a falling Iris with an arrogant smile.

"Come back here idiot! You should have told me before! Besides, I'm only two years younger than you!" Iris said getting up with a bit of pain and following Touya with anger who just kept walking calmly.

In a living room at Drayden's house, Touya and Iris were sitting farthest from each other while Iris watched Touya apparently trying to shoot laser beams from her eyes while Touya quietly read a magazine about cold climates.

"I hate you" Iris said when noticing that Touya was not paying attention to the murderous looks from her.

"Don't worry, I do too" Touya said without taking his eyes off his interesting magazine.

After a few minutes of some odd sarcastic comments, Drayden arrived at his home a little tired.

"Well young man, it's time to tell you everything I know about the legend" Drayden said sitting between Touya and Iris.

"Don't tell him anything Grandpa Drayden! If he had told me earlier I wouldn't have fallen and I wouldn't have back pain!" Iris said as she sat up to ease her back like an old woman.

"Quite a tragedy actually, it would be great to have a picture *Pfffff*" Touya said remembering the scene while he held back his laughter.

"Just wait! When my back doesn't hurt anymore I'll beat you up!" Iris said not being able to move much due to her back pain.

"It's not necessary, you can take a nap before and watch your soap opera" Touya said with a mocking smile while Iris had a vein on her forehead.

"You seem to get along really well huh?" Drayden said with a nervous sweat when noticing their behavior.

"Well, to the point, let's start with the story" Drayden said seriously causing Touya to put the magazine aside and pay attention.

"As you already know, that stone that you have in your bag is the Light Stone, which represents Reshiram in his slumber, and the Dark Stone which is now awake in the form of Zekrom" Drayden said looking at Touya seriously making him nod with understanding.

"Well, believe it or not, Reshiram and Zekrom were once the same pokemon known as the original dragon, which together with two twin brothers led the ancient Unova to a time of peace and prosperity along with truth and ideals for both humans and pokémon" Drayden said in a calm tone making Touya widen his eyes in surprise.

"But like in all legends the heroes didn't last long with their perfect world" Iris said with a bit of annoyance remembering the rest of the story.

"You could say that yes, the older of the twins wanted a world of real truth while the younger a world forged by ideals" Drayden said with a tired and a little sad sigh.

"This caused the separation of the original dragon into three parts, Zekrom as the pokemon of ideals and Reshiram as the pokemon of truth" Drayden said in a serious tone as he pointed at Touya's bag.

"What about the third part?" Touya asked a little confused for not hearing from that pokemon in his entire trip.

"The third part is just an empty shell, which waits for a hero who has both truth and ideals inside that fill that void, but currently there is not much information about him" said Drayden trying to remember something else about that pokemon without no success.

Touya relaxed a bit because of this, at least for now there was no other legendary to worry about.

"Anyway, when the original dragon separated both brothers along with those parts of the original pokemon fought each other to see who was right" said Drayden a little disappointed by the outcome of the story.

"And how can you guess neither of them could defeat the other, they only managed to weaken and cause more damage to Unova" Iris said with a bit of sadness at the thought of the suffering of those times.

"Neither of the heroes could beat the other for a simple reason, neither was absolutely right, thus giving a result, an eternal battle" Drayden said seriously as he leaned back on the couch.

"In every battle, lightning and fire rained down all over Unova, but it was thanks to the people who understood their mistake and started treating the pokemon better that the battle ended and both pokemon helped the people to rebuild Unova as a better place" Iris said seriously while looking proud of the change in people.

"Humans cannot talk to pokemon and it is true that there are still people who treat them selfishly, but if it weren't for them, our lives and this region along with all the others would not be a tenth of what they are" Drayden said in a determined tone and quite certain of his words.

"Right grandpa! We can't let them separate us! We have been together from the beginning, they don't have that right" Iris said a little sad at the mere idea of separating from her pokemon.

Touya felt a bit guilty seeing Iris's sadness, but his thoughts were interrupted by Drayden.

"That's all I have to tell you, sadly I don't know how to wake up the legendary pokemon, but if I have to guess, the moment you have the conviction and the real will to make a decision, the light stone will react to you and your true" Drayden said looking at Touya a little sorry for not having more information but very sure of his hypothesis.

After a moment of silence to let Touya process all the information, Drayden said.

"Well, you must keep Mirto's promise, I'll be waiting for you at the gym, I can only wish you good luck" said Drayden, getting up energetically and then going to his gym.

Touya saw Drayden leave and then let out a sigh and go towards the exit to reach the pokemon center, but was stopped by Iris.

"Hey chosen one! Neither of us can oppose or support you in the final battle between the two of you, but let me tell you something!" Iris said in a serious tone as she pointed at him making Touya turn to look at her curiously.

"If it weren't for my pokemon I wouldn't be here, they are my friends and I would even say that my only family besides my grandpa, no matter what happens you will have to beat me if you want to take them away" Iris said with a little sadness but with confidence and determination in her words.

Touya seemed quite impressed by Iris's words, then smiled slightly and said.

"I'll keep it in mind, after all that's your truth isn't it?" Touya said smiling slightly and then nodded and opened the door.

"See you in the league, brat" Touya said saying goodbye with his cap and going out the door to go to the pokemon center.

"You will see chosen! If you make the wrong decision and become champion after all this I will go there and beat you up to become the best Unova champion!" Iris said with an excited smile and a lot of security and seriousness in her words.

And so ends the explanation of an ancient legend.
