Chương 9: Ice Breakers
The sudden exposure to light made her feel dizzy and disoriented. After blinking her eyes a couple of times she regained her ordinary vision. But the sight in front of her made her regret opening her eyes. She felt being blindfolded was a better option, rather than witnessing the sight before her.
She shut her eyes tight trying to forget the horrifying image she just witnessed.
The blood pounded in her ears. Her heart thudded in her chest. Her hands shook. Her feet tingled. She had to get away. She couldn't look at it. She couldn't stay here anymore. She felt like running away but her legs wouldn't move. She wanted to scream but her mouth never opened. She felt like she had been trapped in a Spider web.
Somewhere amidst the panic, she felt creatures creeping up her leg. Screaming she violently started shaking her leg. The sudden agitation disturbed the movement of the creatures.
Opening her eyes she saw various creatures slithering and crawling along her body moving upwards. Her eyes widened in fear. She tried to scream as loudly as she could but no sound made it out of her mouth.
Panic and desperation started filling her mind. She wanted to thrash, scream, jump and howl. But suddenly she felt like a doll who lost all ability to control her body.
Asher's black pupil darkened significantly as he watched tears streaming down her face. Her every scream and shrills were echoing through his ears. He wanted to run in and bring her away somewhere safe.
He didn't realize that he was getting increasingly agitated until Rehan pulled his hands and revealed the small bruises, "Dude you are hurt."
Asher hadn't realized that he had injured his palms in-between his frustration and anxiety. He rubbed his palms carelessly before turning his attention back to the completely exhausted girl sitting on the chair.
Seeing her in this condition and being unable to do anything tormented him.
As the creatures started slithering upwards along her chest, towards her neck and further above, her mind grew hazy. When she felt the dry, scaly skin tightened around her throat she tried to pry it away hoping she detangle it.
But it only tightened around her throat cutting off her air supply. Her face began to turn into a sickening color as her sight starts to close in on her. Her lungs started to ache and her eyes were bulging.
A lot of memories, images and faces flitted through her mind vividly. Her parents, brother, Mia, Ryan and others started appearing before her. All the happy, sad, funny and childhood memories hit her mind like a comet. Asher's handsome face and various interactions she had with him played in her mind like a movie.
She thought she was going to die. Many regrets and complaints flooded through her mind.
As her conscious started to drift away, a unfamiliar memory popped in her mind.

A scar of bright light hung in the bat-black sky.
A beautiful goddess donning a sturdy shield yielded her sword expertly with one hand while attacking enemies using magic with the other one. Berry-red blood splashed from her open wounds as she subsequently healed herself.
Both sides were battering and beating under a sunless sky. A storm of arrow were buzzing and fizzing through the sky.
Men were screaming and screeching as the ground became slippery with sludge. Swords were clinking and clashing under the churning sky.
As enemies swarmed in like corn in the field, the Goddess fought hard with all her might. Despite everything she was losing.
Suddenly rays of lightning attacked the enemies throwing them off . A handsome man in warrior's costume appeared supporting the falling Goddess.
"I forbade you from entering the war ground didn't I?" the goddess said weakly "Quick...quickly leave." she ordered.
"Protecting you is my duty Goddess!!! No can stop me from that." the warrior replied in a soft yet rigid tone.
"Your duty has long been completed. Leave immediately Ashur" she urged the man to leave.
The man without caring about the rest stroked her bruised face softly "Do you remember asking me whether I regretted wasting my life protecting you?? I wanted you to know I added my name secretly and rigged the results of the Protector selection just to accompany you"
The woman's eyes filled with tears watching the man before her. "You...you.... fool" she whimpered grief stricken.
"My life and death is only for you Amara." the warrior whispered into her ears lovingly pulling her deep into his embrace.
She could see the enemies cornering them from all sides. She could only smile sadly before getting out of the man's embrace. "Only if we had more time, i hope we meet each other in the next life. I am sorry." she whispered softly covering him in a protection barrier and pushing him away before unveiling the most powerful spell humanity had ever seen to obliterate her enemies.
She rose in mid-air launching exquisite movements with her hands and released a divine white light like never seen before.
The man watched in shock as the spell consumed her magic and God-force rapidly. He punched the barrier trying to break it. The enemies were thrown away to death while the rest watched in awe.
As she turned paler the man used his most powerful magic to break out of the shield before catching the falling goddess in his arms.
"No,no,noooo.... you can't die. Wake up Amara, don't close your eyes. Ple....please I beg you...." the man cried hysterically as doom dark clouds, pregnant with malice, churned and roiled as multiple powerful lightening hit the ground as if it was the rage expressing the man's feelings.
"You have to wake up!!!! OPEN YOUR EYES YOU CAN'T DIE" bellowed the man.

Rin abruptly woke as if hearing the man's cries breaking free of all restraints.
Asher and the rest was shocked.
A few minutes back they had seen her slowly losing her consciousness. Asher wanted to dash in and save her but the rules stated that none could enter the box unless there's an emergency or if the participant themselves volunteered.
Asher was losing control of his sanity. A familiar feeling of despair and helplessness was coursing through his veins. He felt a sense of Déjà vu. He felt like he had experienced the same heart-wrenching pain before and he had lost something important.
He rushed forward marching into the room ignoring the others.
The guys were following him trying to get him to stop entering the box.
As his hands touched the handle. Rin abruptly opened her eyes and stood up so strongly with a force that all the creatures on her body was thrown off.
There was a powerful aura surrounding her making the creatures moving frantically away from her.
As he opened the door, Rin moved forward with a blank look in her eyes. He felt the person standing in front him was someone familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
Asher watched as the person stare at him blankly ,Suddenly she fell into his arms unconscious before uttering the name 'Asher.'
