" Cheers!" Everypony exclaimed with their mugs of cider raised high as they sat around the table in the Sugarcube Corner.
Starfall felt embarrassed seeing all his friends celebrating his success in publishing his book, but a warm feeling spread throughout his chest when he realized that they were all his friends and some were even more than that...
"Really guys...It's not that big of a deal..." He tried to say, but Twilight quickly shot him down.
"Not a big of a deal?! Starfall! This is the greatest documented magical research of this century! And your entire life's work! You will not be playing it down!" Firmly said Twilight to the agreement of the other Ponies in attendance.
"Yeah! Don't sell yourself short Starfall! I didn't drag Minuette and Twinkle Shine all the way from Canterlot just so that you could doubt your own achievements!" Said Moondancer Who was now an aspiring researcher in Canterlot and hoped to get her teaching license so that she could teach magic in Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns.
Starfall have her a toothy grin and lowered his head in defeat, before bursting into giggles as Twinkle Shine started to tickle him with a feather together with Pinkie Pie.
"Ahh!?..ha...haha...hey...ha...stop...it!...haha..." He tried to protest but the sudden tickling session took him completely off guard.
It took a few moments for everyone to calm down and Starfall couldn't help but glance at his three childhood friends. A smirk appeared on his face.
"So...Minuette, Shiny, Dancer? When's the wedding?" He teased the girls fully expecting them to get embarrassed but to his surprise, a smug grin appeared on their faces as a bundle of invitation appeared out of one of their bags.
"What a coincidence of you to ask that! And your answer is...a month from now! Twinkle Shine wanted it to happen during winter for some reason and we had no reason to refuse her. *Giggle*" Said Minuette in excitement while giving out invitations, causing everyone to cheer for the trio and wishing them well.
A smirk appeared on Twinkle Shine's face as she turned back to Starfall, and it was at this moment, that he knew, he was in trouble...
"The better question is...when is YOUR weeding Starfall..." She said smugly and He could almost feel the burning gazes of half the girls present in the gathering...
His gaze swooped over the ponies and he knew that he needed to find some way out...
"Right... Twilight... How's Shining Armour? Isn't he pretty close to Cadence?" He tried to lead the conversation elsewhere but his hopes were crashed soon after.
"Oh no no no. You're not getting our of this that easily LOVE..." Said Twilight with a smirk of her own enjoying her Coltfriend's predicament...
"I agree with Twilight, Son. I can't wait to see my Grandchildren!" Added Pharma Blueblood equally amused with the entire situation.
It was a very...very long day for Starfall, but he wouldn't exchange it for anything else...In the end...He loved all of them as both friends and family and it was just another of those happy days of living in Equestria...

a few days later Starfall was had been walking down the street enjoying the chilly morning of the slowly approaching winter when he spotted Fluttershy going into the Sugarcube Corner.
He decided to say hello, but when he walked into the store, his eyes landed on Pinkie Pie and Twilight talking with the yellow Pegasus about the cute creature she discovered.
Pinkie Pie was already leaving to look for instruments but he had no time to stop her as he needed to catch Fluttershy before she left with the Animal.
It wasn't just a normal fluffy bug after all...It was a parasprite... just from the name you could recognise that it was some kind of parasite and he needed to stop the plague before it could happen!
"Fluttershy wait!" He shouted as she was about to leave the shop.
"Oh! Hey Starfall have you seen this adorable creature I found? Isn't it the cutest?" She asked and Starfall couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt of what he needed to do.
"I'm sorry Fluttershy, but this is not a cute animal that you can keep at home..." He said sadly and Fluttershy looked at him puzzled.
"What do you mean Starfall? It's just a harmless little puff ball. Aren't you? Yes you are." She cued at the creature but Starfall sighed.
"Fluttershy. This is a parasprite. a very dangerous creature from the Everfree Forest that has an insatiable appetite and reproduces through vomiting more of its own kind using what it ate as the source. Only one is enough to completely lay waste to all the food in Ponyville. I'm sorry but are you ready to take blame for causing mass famine and reduce the townsponies to eating grass?" He explained completely shaking Fluttershy's world.
Her eyes landed on the wings puffball flying beside her but the parasprite only replied by vomiting another puffball that sprouted wings and turned into another Parasprite causing Fluttershy to revolt in horror.
Starfall grabbed the two parasprites with telekinesis and summoned an empty sweet jar from one of the shelves in the sweet shop before putting the two wriggling creatures inside.
He was about t close it shut but a third one followed them soon after, held in a pink aura of his beloved marefriend.
"I didn't make the connection at first, but now I remember reading about them in your journal Starfall. I'm so glad that you were here to stop them before they laid waste to the celebration."Said Twilight walking to his side while putting her hoof on Fluttershy's shoulder trying to cheer her up.
"But...But they look so harmless..." She said sadly while looking at the wildly wriggling fluffy bugs...
"Appearances can be deceiving...Take for example that one Fluttershy... She's so pretty and Cute, and Seems to be the most adorable thing in the world, but when it comes to the safety of her friends or winning in Ponker she can be a real tiny devil..." He joked trying to cheer her up and it seemed to work as she couldn't help but giggle and blush realising what Starfall just said...
"You're so bad...*Giggle*" Said Fluttershy but she still couldn't help but sigh when looking at the Parasprites.
"So what would happen with them?" She asked a bit worried that he was going to harm the Parasprites.
"Well...I could just send them back into the Everfree Forest but Im pretty sure that they wód be eaten by something in no time and they might always find a way back to Ponyville or other settlement. There must be a reason for why they are so rare and my best bet would be natural predators... I think I'll keep them in my lab instead... I'll even let you see them from time to time. What do you say?" He asked looking at Fluttershy who seemed to still worry about the creatures despite knowing about their true nature.
She was at first unsure about why Starfall wanted to keep them in his lab, but when he said that she could see them from time to time, her expression instantly brightened and she didn't doubt Starfall's reasoning any more...
"Alright. Then that's settled. But is there any chance that there's more of them running around? I wouldn't want to hide those three only to find a cloud of those bugs terrorising Ponyville later because we missed one..." He said and Fluttershy shook her head.
"No...I-I found the first one at the edge of the Everfree Forest this morning... As far as I know, it only multiplied two times so all the Parasprites should be here..." Said Fluttershy a bit guiltily but Starfall just smiled and patted her head.
"Don't worry Fluttershy. You didn't know what they were and nothing bat happened in the end so you have no reason to feel bad about it..."Fluttershy nodded but she was still a bit sad. Starfall had an idea. "...Say...how about I take you on a date? Would that cheer you up Shy?" He said with a smile and Fluttershy instantly turned red in embarrassment but she really wanted to say yes...
"S-Starfall....I-I Would Love to-" She was interrupted though by Pinkie Pie barging into the Sweet Shop with a drum attached to her neck and a tambourine held by her mane.
"Hey! Does anyone have a banjo to borrow?" She said Into the shop without any scruple.
Starfall just smiled seeing Pinkie and called out to her while lightly shaking the jar with the Parasprites to let see it.
"It's alright Pinkie! We caught them all so you don't need to look for the instruments!"
Pinkie Pie looked towards him and sighed in relief.
"Thanks Muffins! I can't believe that nopony in Ponyville plays on accordion!" She said while dropping all her instruments onto the floor and appearing beside them in an instant.
"Umm...Sorry but...What are the instruments for?" Asked Fluttershy quiet puzzled.
"Apparently, Parasprites react to music, so a good enough orchestra could in theory lead them out of the infested town. I think there's even a filly book saying something similar but it spoke about rats so that might be just a coincidence." Replied Twilight who recalled what she read in Starfall's journal... She felt a bit embarrassed that his parano*COUGH* childhood journal was once again savings the situation though...
"Wow...Umm...am I the only one here that never heard about them..." Said Fluttershy once again ashamed of her actions...
Starfall just laughed.
"Don't worry Fluttershy. No one expects you to know about mythical parasites and countermeasures against them. The fact that you are friends with the only three ponies in Ponyville who might have had any idea about them is certainly lucky though...That leads me to another question...Pinkie? How did you know about how to take care of Parasprites?" Asked Starfall Turning towards the Pink Pony.
Pinkie Pie just giggled and explained that Rockville, her hometown had a history of Parasprite's attacks and they were the original reason of her region being made of...well...bare rocks...
Those were actually quiet the news for everyone because neither of them expected that Rockville had such a history.
Apparently it took a lot of work to find countermeasures against the parasites but when they finally did, there was not much left of the original vegetation, but the uncovered rocks revealed great amounts of precious rocks and crystals that allowed Rockville to prosper despite all odds...
After that very surprising tidbit of history, the foursome finally decided do head in their direction but Starfall made sure to whisper something into Fluttershy's ear.
After all...He still owed her a date...
He just needed to store those Parasprites somewhere safe where they couldn't cause any more problems...
