Waking up like always, Mitsuna waited for her mother to come and bring her for daily training.
She did not need to wait long as within a minute, her mother was there.
"Pumpkin~! Training!"
"Mhm."
With her mother holding her hand and pulling her outside, Mitsuna was rubbing her eyes feeling tired while her mother had conflicted feelings.
'She really doesn't speak much huh. It feels... off. She does listen without even a hint of fighting back but it sometimes feels like she isn't alive.'
Looking at her daughter yawn, Aryamis felt slightly comforted.
'Maybe it's just her special way of acting around us. She is royalty just like her father.'
Arriving outside, Mitsuna started walking towards the targets but was stopped by her mother.
"Oh since you have an okay ranged attack for now let's just move on to physical exercise. You need to be ready after all."
"...Ready for what?"
"Oh, I'm sure your father will tell you soon. It will be very interesting I promise."
"Mmm."
"Before we start, you can run with only your legs too right?"
"Mhm."
"Run a lap around the garden first."
Without asking anything, Mitsuna started running.
With her [Mana Reinforcement] activated, she had little trouble.
Finishing the lap in around two minutes, she stopped in front of her mother.
"Hmm. Okay. Now one more but this time sprint like your life depended on it."
"Mhm."
With a simple reply, Mitsuna started running as fast as she could. On sharp turns, she did a sort of drift as she slid on the ground to break while using her hand to change directions and make minor improvements by pushing the ground.
Finishing the lap within nearly one minute, she stopped in front of her mother.
"Pretty good. Now let's play our little game of tag."
'She really does have a knack for physical combat. I knew I noticed something during her first training session.'
Continuing her training Mitsuna was allowed to return to her room when the sun started going down.
Mitsuna was planning on going straight to sleep.
Eating a snack, she did as planned.
Waking up, the training continued.
Half a week later, she was told that she would now be practising mostly physical combat.
'This is going to get exhausting.' Mitsuna thought as she held a wooden sword.
She had occasional spars with her mother and needed to swing her sword 1000 times every day.
'What prehistoric, cultivation novel, anime *ss type of sh*t is this?'
The sword training continued along with the regular tag and hide and seek games.
Two days passed.
Mitsuna woke up to see that her arms and legs had a few more scales but they were barely visible.
'Is this a sign of me growing up or something? How many months old am I anyway? One? One and a half?'
Noticing a strangely fast growth speed, she planned to ask her mother.
Jumping down from her bed, she just so happened to notice her slight increase in height by around 7 cm.
'Okay, I guess I am growing. No need to ask mother then.'
Jumping straight back on the bed with no exterior help, Mitsuna was slightly surprised to see her physical attributes increasing without a change in stats.
'Makes sense I guess. A fully grown man with 1 strength is still a fully grown man.'
Waiting for a while longer, her mother soon entered just like any day.
"Morning~!"
"Morning."
"Let's go then if you're ready."
"Mhm."
Within the past few days, Mitsuna had noticed her mothers slight worry and decided to speak a little more.
'She seems slightly happier.'
Reaching outside, Aryamis spoke.
"You seem to already be growing. Oh, it won't be long until you leave the nest... I better make training as difficult as possible so you won't forget me!"
She seemed to be hyping herself up.
Mitsuna was holding her wooden sword and started doing her daily swings.
"Oh, honey. Give that here for a second."
Taking the wooden sword, Mitsuna's mother threw it away.
Taking a steel sword out of nowhere, she handed it over.
"Use this instead. It should get you to understand a sword's weight a little more."
Throwing it over, Mitsuna caught it with both arms. It was surprisingly heavy as she needed to use most of her strength to wield it.
The sword was a regular one-handed sword with sharpened edges. The only thing special about it was a weird rune drawn right above the hilt, on the blade.
Lifting snd swinging once, it seemed to be way too heavy.
Activating her [Mana Reinforcement] the blade lightened a little.
Trying to swing again, Mitsuna suddenly felt pain and the sword turned a few times heavier.
Letting go, Mitsuna felt the pain dissipate as she looked towards her mother.
"Oh sorry. I forgot to mention that the blade eats mana rather violently. Besides that, it's just a regular sword that changes its weight depending on the strength of the wielder."
"Mmmh."
"Well, you still need to complete your daily swings. So get to it, you have until noon and if you don't finish by then I'll give you a punishment."
Starting to swing the sword without fighting back, Mitsuna continued until noon.
And by the grace of God. She finished on time.
Letting the sword drop to the floor, Mitsuna laid on her back and took deep breaths.
'Horrible. Never again please.'
"Great job pumpkin! You finished on time! Now stand up so you can have a small sparring session with your mother."
Standing up with a grunt, Mitsuna picked up the metal sword.
"Oh, you want to use that one and not your wooden one? Okay, if you think so."
"Wai-"
Before she could interject, her mother already made her move.
Mitsuna dodged and tried to land a hit with a kick but missed.
'Unfair. Mother is both faster and stronger than me.'
Dodging and parrying most blows her mother threatened to deal, Mitsuna was horrifically exhausted.
"Now time for your two favourite games~!" Aryamis spoke with a smile.
"And this time, in tag try to attack as much as possible."
The training continued as Mitsuna felt dead inside, and outside as well.
'Oh god.' Was the only coherent thing out of all her other thoughts.
