“So, how was your birthday?” Sarah’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Jessi beamed up at her from her desk. “It was wonderful. Judd took me to dinner. And he gave me this.” She held out her wrist to show her friend the silver infinity bracelet.

Sarah came closer, lifting Jessi’s hand to admire the bracelet. “So pretty! You must love it.”

“I do,” Jessi smiled. “Plus, he’s planned a weekend in the Keys in a few weeks.”

Sarah grinned smugly. “I know. He called me to make sure you’d be available that whole weekend.”

“Did he?” Jessi leaned back in her desk chair and gazed thoughtfully out the window.

“That man loves you.”

Jessi nodded. “I know. I love him, too.”

“I’m so pleased for you, hon. You had a rough go. It’s your turn to be happy.”
