Chương 28: They are back
"I don't understand one thing, why are you guys so afraid to come here?"
"Because we are different," Rachael answered.
"As if anyone cares if you are different. People are so busy dealing with their own shit, they don't have to care about anything else," Ivan explained.
Looking at him, she chuckled, "Look at you trying to defend yourself."
"I am not defending anyone, just stating a few facts," he remarked.
Tapping her fingers on the side of the couch, she stated, "Things are easier for you here because you are a human. You can live a normal life here without fearing anything Ivan but it's not the same for us. We don't belong here, we can't live a normal life here like you."
Slumping on the couch, he scoffed, "Of course I am not like you all, I am very different."
"Geez, what's with that tone?" Raising her brows, she chuckled, "Wait, something is bugging you."
"It's nothing."
"Come on, tell me what it is," she forced him to talk.
Helplessly shaking his head, Ivan sighed, "It's nothing."
Pouting her lips, she scrunched her brows. "At times like this, I really miss Jason."
"Your wish has been granted." Slumping on the couch, he massaged the back of his neck. "My neck starts turning stiff when Darius lectures me."
"You met him?"
He nodded his head and answered, "Met him on the way here, he lectured me for not looking after the two kids." Taking out a wallet from his pocket, he gave it to Ivan. "I believe this is yours."
"How much did they spend this time?" When Ivan did not say anything, Rachael sighed, "You will go bankrupt someday."
"That will never happen, our Ivan is a rich man. And even if he goes bankrupt, he still has a family who can raise him lavishly," Jason remarked.
Ignoring their remarks, Ivan questioned them. "Now will you two tell me why you are here?"
"Why do you always think we come and see you only if we have a reason? Can't we come here just because we are missing you?" Rachael frowned.
"Of course you can but I know you are here for a reason today so tell me what it is." Rachael would either visit him in the morning or late at night and never in the evening until she wanted to tell him something.
Looking at Ivan with amusement, Jason grinned, "Isn't he becoming sharp day by day?" Placing his hand on her shoulder, he nodded his head. "You are right, we are here for some reason."
"I want you to be careful for a few days. Don't stay out late and be careful when you are at home as well." Taking out a paper from her pocket, she added, "If anything suspicious happens anytime, call in this number and tell the man your address."
"And why is that?" When both of them did not say anything, Ivan raised his brows, "I am not following these new uninvited rules if you don't tell me what's happening and what Darius was talking about." He knew something was not right otherwise, Rachael would never give him such instructions and impose restrictions on him.
When Jason looked at Rachael, she nodded her head. He then sighed and turned towards Ivan. "They are back."
