Chương 18: Ice-Breaking Session

A week after signing the contract with NEXT Studio, Producer Ming contacted her again and told her that there will be a gathering with the staff.

The studio will begin its operation soon, and the boss wanted to gather everyone for an ice-breaking session.

When Song Xing Xing got this message, she sat down to weigh her decision for a long time. Producer Ming had mentioned that their big boss, President Lu Xun will show up at this gathering. However, the last thing she wanted to do was to meet this person.

After a long thought, Song Xing Xing decided to dress up differently and showed up at the gathering.

Liu Yu Sheng could not hide her surprise the moment she saw her friend. She gave Song Xing Xing a look over and raised a brow.

The way Liu Yu Sheng was staring at her made Song Xing Xing a little uncomfortable. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Liu Yu Sheng quickly snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head. "Nothing. I just thought that it was rare to see you dress up like this."

Because of work, Song Xing Xing would usually too lazy to dress up and showed up in shirts and pants to work. It was rare for anyone at her workplace to see her dress up in a dress.

Song Xing Xing twirled around in her dress. "How is it? Pretty?"

"Un. Un." Liu Yu Sheng nodded. She raised her head and saw that her friend had painted her face with light makeup. A thought came to her mind and Liu Yu Sheng squinted her eyes. "Xing Xing, don't tell me that you have a date afterward."

The corner of her lips twitched. "You're thinking too much. I just thought that I did not have many chances to wear this dress."

Liu Yu Sheng gave her another look over and nodded. "Oh."

The two girls walked into the hall together. Song Xing Xing's face brightened up when she noticed that their big boss had not shown up.

Taking this chance, Song Xing Xing dragged her friend to sit at the innermost corner. She sat down to observe her surroundings and found out that the post-production crew was seated farther away from the top management.

Now that she was sure that the chance for her to meet her boss face to face was very thin, Song Xing Xing let out a breath of relief.

The company was still new and recruiting. Therefore, there were not many people around.

The group made a lot of noise until someone announced that their president had arrived. The door to the private room swung open and Lu Xun entered with his special assistant.

After giving a brief speech, the food was served and everyone was chatting and eating happily.

Their topic was of course, related to the project they will be working on afterward. Song Xing Xing and Liu Yu Sheng were sent to join the variety show. Then, there were others who were assigned to work with a new drama.

As usual, it was the production crews who were the liveliest. Hearing that the production crews will have the chance to visit a lot of places for shooting, the others were a little jealous.

Meanwhile, the post-production crew like Song Xing Xing and the others can only stay in the studio. They have to wait until the production crew to send them their footage before they can start to work.

Song Xing Xing thought that she could escape after the meal, but who would have thought that the big boss had a different idea. He stood up from his seat and started to go around the room with his assistant.

Looking at this scene, Song Xing Xing suddenly wanted to faint. Realizing that she cannot escape the situation, Song Xing Xing started to fidget at her place.

"What's wrong with you?" Liu Yu Sheng asked when she saw her friend was acting strangely.

Song Xing Xing snapped out of her trance and forced a smile. "Nothing. I suddenly had the urge to pee."

Liu Yu Sheng held on to Song Xing Xing's hand tightly. "Just bear with it. It will be over soon."

Lu Xun continued to walk around the room and exchanged a brief greeting with his staff.

As the man was approaching closely, Song Xing Xing lowered her head. Soon, it was her turn. She could feel her hand turned cold the moment the man stood in front of her.

She lifted her head and exchanged her greeting like everyone else. Seeing that the man was not looking at her properly, Song Xing Xing heaved a breath in relief.

President Lu Xun had finished his round and finally left the room with his assistant. Once the man left the room, Song Xing Xing slumped at her seat and emptied her drinks. Suddenly, she felt as if the air around her was not as oppressive as it was before.

"What's wrong with you?" Liu Yu Sheng poked her on her waist. "Didn't you say that you need to go to the restroom?"

"You're right." Song Xing Xing put her glass down and took her purse. "Are you coming with me?"

Liu Yu Sheng waved her hand. "It's fine. You go ahead."

As she walked out of the room, someone announced that President Lu Xin was going to treat them to KTV. Everyone was invited to join this party.

Song Xing Xing went into the toilet and stayed there for a while. After she had washed her face and calm down, Song Xing Xing walked out of the restroom and was planning to head back into the room.

However, before she was able to take another step, Song Xing Xing realized that there was someone standing in front of her. She lifted her head and was about to speak something when she realized that the person was the president's special assistant.

"Miss Song," Bei Yuan flashed a polite smile.

"You're looking for me?" Song Xing Xing pointed at her nose.

"President Lu Xun wanted to see you in private," Bei Yuan said. "Miss Song, I hope that you can come with me. It will only take you five minutes."
