Chương 4: The Story (1)

After Yu Yan had finished bathing, Feng Mian took her turn. Yu Yan wrapped herself in a blanket and sat down on Feng Mian's bed while waiting for her best friend to finish her bath. Her eyes were looking straight as she was thinking about what had just happened, tears began to well up once more.

"Still crying?"

"President… Zhang?" Yu Yan lifted her head. She rubbed her eyes and saw Zhang Liang returned with a bottle of milk.

Zhang Liang placed the milk on the small table near Feng Mian's bed. "Mian'er said that you liked strawberry milk, so I bought it."

"Thank you."

Yu Yan was hungry, but she didn't have the heart to eat anything right now. Her hand trembled as she picked up the bottle.

In front of her, Zhang Liang looked at Yu Yan carefully. Her hands were bruised badly. It was black and blue, which must have been the result of being hit. There was also blue mark under her eyes, probably a punch.

When he found her, her dress was mostly only dirty and crumpled. She was also still wearing her long legging, which was only slightly torn at the knee. Probably because she fell down on her way out.

Feng Mian walked out of the bathroom. She looked at her best friend, who was drinking milk as she heaved a sigh. She headed to her desk and took out the first aid box.

"Let me treat your wounds."

"Oh." Yu Yan eyed Zhang Liang. Zhang Liang understood that some wounds might require her to open her clothes, so he tactfully walked out.

"I'll be in the living room if you need me."

"Yes. Thank you," Feng Mian replied. She looked at her best friend as her heart ached. There were so many wounds on Yu Yan. Slowly, she began to clean it all with alcohol and wrapped them in bandages.

There were bruises on Yu Yan's face and hand. The rest was on her back, which might have been the result of being hit. Feng Mian stayed silent as she began to treat Yu Yan. She wanted to know so badly what happened, but she would not begin to pester Yu Yan if the latter didn't want to talk.

Yu Yan waited patiently until Feng Mian had finished before she turned to look back.

"Feng Mian, why am I so unlucky?"

"No, you're not that unlucky. If you need anything, you can always call me," Feng Mian replied resolutely.

Yu Yan's eyes began to water. "Yeah, but you can't always be near me."

"Is there something bothering you, Yan'er? What happened?" Feng Mian asked carefully. She was never good at coaxing people, so she had to slowly asked Yu Yan about what had happened.

Yu Yan looked at Feng Mian. She rubbed her eyes. "Bao Tu."

"Huh?" Bao Tu was the name of Yu Yan's boyfriend. From what Feng Mian knew, the two of them have been going out for months. They were only going on dates most of the time, but she had been hearing how Yu Yan bragged about him for some time.

"He's… sleeping with my sister," slowly, Yu Yan spoke out as her eyes watered once more.

"She's a b*tch!" Feng Mian cursed. She felt really angry at Yu Yan's sister. Why would she destroy her own sister's happiness?

Yu Yan looked at Feng Mian. She knew that Feng Mian was angry at her behalf, especially because a person like Feng Mian would not usually curse. Her heart felt warmed at the thought that at the very least, her best friend would support her unconditionally. She rubbed her eyes as Feng Mian handed her tissue.

"She beat you up?" Feng Mian asked, her eyes glowed in ruthless glint.

Yu Yan looked at Feng Mian and nodded lightly. "I caught the two of them in the act in my apartment. Hah, you should see the place. It was a mess now. I poured hot water on the two of them when they're still busy on my bed. Bao Tu was angry and punched my face. I was not quick enough to evade.

Then my sister came to me while screaming that I ruined her face. Heh, I don't care anymore. Even if her face is ruined, she deserved it."

Yu Yan really wanted to laugh and mock her sister. Didn't her sister always want to create things difficult for her? Now, she turned the tables to her. Heh, that was the price for meddling into her life once more.

"You did good," Feng Mian said slowly.

Yu Yan laughed dryly. "Do you know, this is already the second time?"

"Second time?"

"Yeah, even my past boyfriend, my sister snatched him," Yu Yan showed a helpless smile.

Part of this chapter is similar to some parts at 1YOB (1 Year of Beginning) chapter 170 and 171 because the scene is practically the same but from different perspective. The conversation is slightly different here because of some reasons (to be exact, I skipped some parts back in 1YOB because it'll reveal the plot for this one too much and change the perspective of who's the one talking, so it will be different)

For those who didn't know, Feng Mian is the main lead for 1YOB while Yu Yan is her best friend. The two story will slightly overlap because the time started from a part that's existed in 1YOB.

However, there's no need to read 1YOB to follow this story because the two girls have completely different lives. There are only some acts where the two story will overlap.
