Chương 61: The betrayal

Jericho stood on the ship looking afar looking for Sky and Jules. Part of her was still worried that Jules will find a way to unleash herself from her binds and kill Sky. Behind her were the slaves already beginning to clean the ship clean.

Jay stood behind the wheel overlooking the rest of the slaves making sure they were doing their job. The only slave not present was the fishman, the cook, as he was preparing food in the kitchen located inside the ship.

The slaves were glad that Sky wasn't here at the moment, they felt at peace, but that didn't mean they were slacking off on their job. The only place they were not allowed to touch was the captain's quarters.

Soon the inside of the portal started to shake. It meant that the boss had been killed. The slaves looked up at each other worriedly. A portal shaking from the inside was common sense in this world so they all knew what it meant.

"Oh, they killed the boss." Jay said not surprised in the slightest.

"Hm." Jericho nodded once.

A minute later two people returned and jumped on the ship,

"Sky!" Jericho was happy to see him alive and well.

"Here, split this up between you and Jay." Sky wasn't happy as he handed Jericho nearly a dozen red scrolls while keeping one for himself.

"I'll be in my quarters. Quickly set sail for the next dungeon."

Jericho and Jay looked at Sky grumpily entering his room. The rest of the slaves began working harder when they saw Sky, they were afraid if they didn't do a good job they'd be sacrificed.

"Jules, why is Sky mad?" Jericho asked.

"I don't know. All I know is I pinned down the crocodile boss, he did the sacrifice thing on it, next thing I know he screamed "I GOT ITS SPEED AAAAAAHHHHH GODDAMMIT! I WANTED ITS VIGOR!" and then here we are."

Jules and Jericho looked at each other. They had a rough idea of what Sky meant by that.

"Wanna split the scrolls in half?"

"I don't know. I can't even read the dead language."

Sky sat down on his bed with no mattress and ripped the red scroll.

{Vig: 997 → 1017}

{Vigor stat has reached 1000}

{25,000 vigor added}

{HP: 45,890/45,890}

{Damage negation increased: 30% → 50%}

{HP regen has increased: 30% → 100%}

{HP time regeneration has decreased by half}

{Note: Now health will regenerate every 30 seconds instead of every 60 seconds}

{Vigor stat will no longer give any special abilities after reaching a certain number}

"So… the maximum is a thousand." Sky was glad to see his HP increased more than twofold and that all the damage he receives will be negated by half, but was saddened by the fact he will not be receiving any new abilities.

'Curse of blindness…'

Sky continued practicing his skills. Minutes before they reached the next portal he got a notification.

{Skill has evolved}

{Dispel: lvl 9 → Dispel all: lvl 1}

{Dispel all: lvl 1: Dispels all negative status effects on the same level or lower}

Sky was weirded out but this.

"All negative status effects? Does that mean poison and curses? And what else?" Sky asked. There was no response however.

"Sky, we're here." Jericho called out to him from the other side of the door.

Sky stood up. "Now that my dispel has evolved it's only a matter of time before the rest of the curses also evolve, the only one that I haven't been able to evolve is the curse of death. I'll do that later."

Sky would once again clear the portals and absorb the stats of every single monster inside until he reached his new goal, to have every single stat reach 1,000.

One day later…

{Time until the purple portal appears: six minutes}

Sky docked his ship in the middle of the ocean. For more than a day he hadn't slept once, after all how could he at a time like this?

Behind him were his crew. Jay was eager to see his first purple dungeon, Jericho was worried, Jules was nervous.

Sky cannot believe these are all the abilities he received. It seemed that he had so many that the author is gonna have a hard time keeping up.

"I wonder if I'll be able to remember all these abilities when I am fighting for my life. Probably not but I'll try."

"Captain, it's forming." Jay pointed in front of them.

Space itself was shifting, moving irregular in a way that cannot be described in words. Then a portal formed.

This was the first time anyone present had witnessed a portal appear before their very eyes, they were all equally amazed. It was a very rare sight to see a portal appear.

"Let's do this." Sky commanded the ship and they entered the portal.

Everyone held their breaths not knowing what to expect. Once they entered they saw a beautiful scene, it was something they had never seen before.

It was an extremely dense forest full of trees the size of skyscrapers. But the trees themselves were not trees, but four-leaf clovers the size of trees. Even all the grass and flowers were four-leaf clovers.

The sun could barely shine through the forest due to how many four-leaf trees there were.

"Woah, what is this?" Jay asked.

They docked the ship and stepped down. Sky was the first to pluck out a four-leaf clover from the ground.

'Identify.' Sky had never seen this type of flower before.

{Four-leaf clover}

{It is said that whoever finds a four-leaf clover is bound to be lucky}

Sky took a closer look. Everywhere he looked there was nothing but four-leaf clovers.

"Does this flower really bring good luck?"

{No, it does not. It is merely a story that surrounds this particular flower that is well known in other worlds}

"Oh, I see." Sky dropped the four-leaf clover.

'Wait, this dungeon is called {field of the five-leaf clover} why are there only four-leaf clovers?' Sky wondered.

"Captain?" Jay asked.

"It's fine. Jules, with me. We need to be weary of snakes, and we need to find a secret room in the center of the map."

They ventured through the thick forest, leaving behind the slaves with their ship.

All eleven slaves were huddled inside the crew's quarters, shivering and scared. None of them are strong enough to enter a green dungeon as an exterminator, especially a purple dungeon.

"Hey, hey everyone!"

The fishman spoke up, getting everyone's attention. "I don't hear them or see anymore. We should leave quickly. We need to steal the ship and leave them behind."

"Are you crazy?!" One of the cleaning slaves spoke up. "If he finds out he'll kill us! You saw what he did with those other slaves."

"I know, but we either die by his hand some day or risk escaping with our lives."

"We're slaves! We're already marked, if they find out we escaped we will be executed."

Some of the slaves had permanent marks on their bodies, one of them was marked in the face while others had it in their arms, hands, backs, necks, etc..

"We're going to die anyway. One of my old master's friends is an expert in removing slave marks, if I can find him he'll help us. We need to make a choice quickly before they come back!"

Everyone looked at each other. If they succeeded they would escape. If they fail they will die.

"Those who want to escape raise your hand!" The fishman said.

Out of the ten cleaning slaves, only seven raised their hands.

"I don't want to do it. I don't want to die." One of the three that didn't raise her hand shook her head, grabbed her hair and started panicking at the thought of dying.

"I'm too scared. He'll find us for sure!"

"Please, don't do it! I have a horrible feeling this won't work!"

The three who didn't raise their hand hugged each other.

Everyone looked at them. They understood their fear quite well but they had to escape.

"Let's go, now! I know how to control a ship this size!" The fishman and the other seven quickly ran up to command the ship.

Meanwhile…

Sky was carefully navigating through the dungeon.

"I sense something to my left." Sky said.

Just then, a green snake about a meter long lunged itself at Sky's through, bearing its poisonous fangs at him. Before he could reach him Jules swung her trident and pierced its head, killing it instantly.

{Level up}

{Level 200}

{Special quest complete}

{Reach level 200}

{Quest reward: 5+ items to the Merchant shop OR 1+ special item}

{Which one will you pick?}

"Plus five items."

{The Merchant shop has been upgraded. Ten items will be shown for sale from now on}

Sky half expected to get something in return for reaching level 200, just how when he reached level 100 he got a delicious cupcake that increased all his stats by 10 each.

"Good job, Jules." Sky said.

"Hm."

As they were about to continue to venture, Sky got a notification.

{Your ship {Melody} has been stolen}

{You have 24 hours to retrieve it before you lose control of your ship}

"Those fuckers." Sky said under his breath.

"What was that, Sky?"

"One second." Sky took out from his inventory a card, inside the card was a small boat. He placed the boat on the ground in front of him and disappeared.

Everyone looked at each other confused.

The eight slaves had just taken over the ship and were about to leave the portal.

"Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!" The slaves kept repeating to themselves.

"There is no way he knows, right? The purple portal is too much to handle."

"Definitely. He'll be too busy fighting the monsters to focus on us."

The slaves were having a discussion Unknowingly there was a presence with them with his arms crossed, and he was extremely pissed.

"By the time he realizes it it'll be too late. We'll be long gone. It's not like he can just teleport here from hundreds of kilometers away to a specific spot." The fishman said.

"You're right. There is also no way someone can tell him we stole his ship."

"Is that so?"

Everyone froze upon hearing that awful, familiar voice. They all turned cold, they started to sweat profusely. It was as if time stood still, and their lives flashed before their eyes.

The ship turned around by itself back. The fishman behind the wheel fell on his back once the wheel suddenly started spinning abruptly and pushed him down. They didn't even leave the portal before they were caught/

They could not believe it. It was too fast as if Sky had set up a trap for them.

Sadly their efforts were futile as they could not leave the portal either way because of Sky.

"It hasn't even been five minutes yet you're stealing my ship. All of you must have balls of steel."

"Master, master, master! Please, forgive me!" One of the slaves began crawling on her knees begging for forgiveness

"No." Sky moved back believing that if he gave her the chance she'd kiss his feet.

Sky used his telekinesis to pin them all on the ground and even held their mouths so they wouldn't speak or scream.

As he was about to sacrifice them he had a better idea.

"You know what? You guys are too weak for me to use this ability on you so I have something better in mind. Everyone follow me, well it's not like you have much of a choice." Using his telekinesis everyone was floating behind him, they were unable to move or speak.

Going beneath the ship Sky stuffed everyone in the brig big enough to fit twenty people at once.

{You have placed eight people in the brig. Their stats and abilities have been bound}

Everyone in the cell stared at Sky. They were sure he was gonna kill them. Their stats had been bound to one, their stats were no different than a newborn.

"Only eight of you? Where's the rest?" Sky looked around. On the corner he saw three women huddled together underneath a blanket.

Sky teleported to them and took off the blanket.

"ASHASHADKSASASKA!" They could not speak properly and they fell from their bed as they crawled further, the reason they crawled is because they were so scared they couldn't stand properly.

"Wait! We refused to help them."

Sky stared at them. His eye color changed.

"I'm only gonna ask you this once, did you three agree to escape with the rest of them?"

Somehow the woman was able to find the strength and courage to shake her head. "No, we did not want to escape! We are afraid of you!"

{She is telling the truth}

"Good, you three can live. I'm not gonna punish you for something you didn't do. If you try to escape or help the others I will know, and you'll join them tonight with what I have in store for them."

Sky teleported from his ship back to the small boat he had placed earlier. Everyone on the ship was beyond scared, there was nothing they could do.

Sky appeared on top of the small boat before his crew where everyone was waiting for him.

"It's a good thing I bought this small boat yesterday." Sky said.

"What's wrong? Why did you leave?" Jericho asked.

"Sorry about that. Ask the slaves when we come back to the ship. For now we find the treasure room and the boss room."

Everyone followed. Jericho tried to find a treasure chest, Jules kept everyone alive, Sky was looking for any nearby enemies, and Jay was keeping a close eye for anything irregular.

Boom

Jay immediately shot something beside them.

"There was a snake. I didn't kill him. I think." Jay said.

Sky looked at the direction Jay shot, and there was a snake bleeding green on the ground with half of its body missing.

"Good job, Jay."

'Identify.'

{Green snake}

{A very poisonous and venomous snake. Unlike other snakes these ones hate any other species that isn't their own. They use their poison, venomous bodies, and their hiding abilities to kill}

{Str: 1,900 Dex: 1,000 Spd: 1,500 Int: 1,000 Mind: 1,300 Vig: 1,000}

{Paralyzing bite: lvl MAX}

{Venomous body: Will cause hallucinations upon touching its body}

{Sneak: lvl 9: Able to hide your presence nearly at a master level}

Sky was amazed. So monsters in a purple dungeon have stats in the thousands?

Sky grabbed its body. He felt a stinging sensation coming from his hand.

{You have been poisoned}

{You will start hallucinating}

{Skill level up}

{Poison resistance: lvl 9 → lvl MAX: 50% resistant to poison}

{Negated 100% of the poison} (50% from the poison resistance and 50% resistance from all damage}

Sky smiled. To think his hard work would lead him to be immune to poisons like this.

'Hmm, if I can raise the resistance of my other skills will I be completely immune to them as well? Wait. Lightning bolt!" Sky conjured lightning from his hand and shot himself in the stomach. His unusual action caused his crew to freak out.

"You just shot yourself with a lightning bolt?" Jericho asked. She ran up to him and saw he was fine.

"It's fine. It caused no damage to me."

{Negated 100% of damage}

Sky also had his lightning resistance to the max. Now both poisons and lightning cannot hurt him.

'Ritual sacrifice.'

The snake in his hand was covered in a black pentagon markings.

{Ritual sacrifice has started}

{12}

{11}

{...}

{Ritual sacrifice complete}

{Received 700 dex}

{Dex: 1,938}

"Yup, I'm glad to be here. Let's keep looking for more snakes."

"We should also hurry up before someone finds this place, especially the Caribbean." Jericho stated.

"Hmm, you're right."
