A small pillar in the middle of a town's center was all that was left from the original camp. Surrounded by the waters of the fountain sourced from the nearby lake, it served as the reminder of the humble origins of those who founded the city.
The Town's population has been steadily growing for the past two years.
Ever since the decisive battle at the ridge brought an end to the conflict, the arid lands quickly turned into farmlands that were soon overtaken by the urban sprawl.
The city itself was split into districts, each separated from the other by massive water canals, using the waters of the central lake to supply both the population and the rich farmlands at the Town's outskirts.
The streets were filled with all kinds of people.
Okay guys, a few words from the author here as I don't want to make it into another chapter.
- There was a lot of delays when it came to writing this novel. It didn't perform anywhere as good as I hoped, I quickly lost motivation for it, I forgot to write down several important things making it harder to come back to writing it...
The sad truth is, I planned this story to be at least three times as long... But there was absolutely no point in doing that. The material left from what I planned in this novel may make it to its continuation (a novel where MC is no longer Layn, but a novel where Layn and CO might appear as seasonal/side characters). Whether it will happen in any close future? No. Not anytime soon. But it likely will happen.
With that said, this is the novel that I hold very close to my heart. It tackled the concept that I was always intrigued by, of clashing cultivation and magic. While it still is withing the Slothverse (that contains all my novels so far) its also the novel that is the last to be fully integrated into it. IN other words, this is the novel that is the beginning of an end of the slothverse, with One Last System being the very last novel to be within the first phase of the multiverse of my creation.
From other information, there will be some side stories coming sometime in the future. I still want to close some topics, some plots and elaborate on some things that I hinted at even in the last chapter. Until that's done, I won't consider this novel as fully finished. But in terms of WN system, this novel, as of today, is marked as completed.
At the end, I would like to thank everyone who toughened through the rough parts of this story, where I lost the sense of direction, where I forced the chapters out for the sake of daily updates, where I didn't mind the grammar too much, where I missed some stuff and created plot holes... If, despite all the faults of this novel, you managed to have some fun while reading it, then I can rest happily as an author who commited nearly half a year of his life to write it, and over three years of his life to come up with it.
Once and for the last time, Cheers everyone! At this point, I can only thank you for sticking with the story again, and recommend you to go and check out my other novels as well! (particularly, "One Last System").
Thanks for the read!
Cheers!
