Chương 32: 32 Fighting A Giant Rat 1
The night have started to come to an end as the sun started to rise gradually. In order not to waste more time Ben began to head back to the camp. Ben made sure to crosscheck everything again before departing. On arriving at the camp he found out that they were just starting to wake while some already packed their tent.
The life in the jungle had toughen the mentally of these spoilt brats. One should know that even the lowliest maid in Lord Williams mansion would be incredibly proud if they were met outside the mansion. However for those who have a standing like these students they were overly proud.
"How did it go?"
" Did you see any?"
"What took you so long?"
Right after Ben surfaced they all surrounded him and asked.
"Guys, guys, calm down, let me breath okay, geez... " Ben felt like suffocating as they all bombarded him. "Have I seen what?" Ben acted as though he had no idea what they all meant.
"Ben, we all you went to hunt for the Spirit Colossal Rat. It wasn't fair, you didn't even tell us where you were going, you only said 'to hunt' so yeah, we still have brains to join one and one together, so tell us did you find the Spirit Colossal Rat?" Jeremy gave a light punch to Ben's shoulder as he spoke.
"Yeah Ben, tell, did you get any lead to a Spirit Colossal Rat?" Kate asked looking expectantly.
"Okay, yes, I've found a Spirit Colossal Rat, and I've also prepared a place we can use to ambush and kill it. I set a few traps on the way which are able to harm the beast but we have to be careful as they are lethal to all of us, this is why you ask have to memorize the marks I have laid down so we don't harm ourselves. This is how I have laid everything down, member them, the way ahead the cave... " Ben drew a rough work of his trap and explained how they all work and everybody's role in the upcoming battle.
Ben's plan was really simple and can be said not hard at all but the threats were also huge. Although different types of occupation holders have their own way of finding out their opponents level it becomes hard if the said opponent was either sleeping or intentionally hiding their aura, which in the Spirit Colossal Rats case it was still asleep giving no way of knowing if it is beyond their power or not.
"... We have to head there now, in a few hours it'll awaken and go out to eat by then it will be hard for us." once Ben was done explaining the trap he informed them.
Ben led the group deep into the depths of the forest and instructed them in their respective role one last time. Currently Flash, Mia and the rest were in position. Kate was presently at the cave Ben had showed her indicating it was the Spirit Colossal Rats home. She moved around the entrance of the cave while making splashing sounds on the water, a bit childish but it was all to get the rat's attention, which it did.
Roar!
Since she got it's attention there was no need to stay around anymore. 'Run!' Kate didn't need anyone to tell her to give herself a very big head start considering that a creature with four legs can run faster the a creature with two. She ran like there was no tomorrow. Weaving into the bushes she could hear her heart pounding heavily.
ROAR!!
A lion's roar came from the cave she was running from as a big brown hairy creature the size of a cow came out, it had wide black eyes that looks like it is about to fall off anytime soon. The creature has sharp claws that dug into the soil, its long hairy... more like, spiky tail were being dragged on the floor. This is a Spirit Colossal Rat. Like any normal rat it was about going out to hunt for the day's meal until it saw food knocking right at its doorstep. How could it miss such an opportunity?
Seeing the trail its prey followed it gave chase immediately. Kate was running relentlessly, trying to keep the gap she already created with the Spirit Colossal Rat. She moved in the direction Ben had shown her prior to the mission, coupled with the signs he made along the way it help not putting herself in danger, while on the other hand, despite its sturdy skin the spikes that were hidden had dealt considerable amount of damage in its body, this left injuries with blood dripping down.
The Giant rat already stepped on three spikes that was laid out, yet it didn't stop to care for its wounds, it felt that once it catches its prey every other thing will be attended to later. The Giant rat was feeling sharp pains in some places of its body, and this made the Spirit Colossal Rat to make up its mind to catch Kate by all means, because if it loses this one to get another won't be too easy. It totally disregarded it's continuously increasing injuries and wounds.
Only in a few minutes will it regret this one decision. Kate kept making turns from left to right trying to maintain the distance, but how could it be possible?
"They're coming! get ready everyone." In a spacious area Flash saw them - Kate and the Spirit Colossal Rat - coming then gave the signal. Flash stood behind a tree that was right at the entrance of the trap, preventing the new comers from seeing him.
Boom
Right after the two dashed in Mia unleashed her domain in full force. Ice began forming everywhere, even the on the tree trunks and was still climbing up. As this happened fire started burning the perimeter of the frozen place, even the entrance wasn't passable anymore as a huge boulder now stood there.
Although such a creature is an instinctual animal it came to a stop after noticing abrupt change all around it. It spun around to flee because of the imminent danger it senses only to be stopped by a young man that was glowing in yellow-brown hue all over him.
Flash didn't let it to recover from its state of shock, immediately launching attack after attack. Earth Swordbeam after earth Swordbeam, landing them aimlessly at the Giant rat in front of him. Being hit by those Swordbeams to the Spirit Colossal Rat it felt like boulders landing on it.
Seeing that the frenzied attacks won't stop the Spirit Colossal Rat went berserk and started counterattacking, allowing it to stop retreating after every sword beam it received. With continuous deflecting the Spirit Colossal Rat began training the upper hand.
Flash this time was being pushed back trying to defend the the Giant rat's attack. When the Spirit Colossal Rat was about to claim victory a blinding swordbeam wrapped in burning hot flames arrived just before its eyes, it lost sight for a few seconds.
Honestly the light from the fiery swordbeam wasn't that bright to be called blinding, just imagine being in a dark room busy doing your business wholeheartedly then all of a sudden a candle pops in front of your eyes out of thin air, even you would say a candle light was blinding. The same goes for the incident that just happened. Since the sky was still dark and being entangled with flash, the Spirit Colossal Rat didn't know another attack would be coming at its face.
A flame swordbeam wasn't hard to dodge but being blinded by it at the same time not seeing where to go was what made it hard to dodge. As the flame Swordbeam landed on the creatures face it was knocked back ten metres. The Spirit Colossal Rat felt that imminent danger again, knowing it wasn't in a favourable fight it decided to flee, but the exit was already blocked. Then go up. The Spirit Colossal Rat dug its sharp claws on one of the tree trunk to climb its way away from here when suddenly it got knocked by an energy from the left.
Jeremy blaring his sword with bright cyan colour glowing around his sword and hands ready to make another strike if need be.
Ice and frost continued to accumulate in the area, it was now getting hard for the Spirit Colossal Rat to move freely, it's speed has reduced by a quarter.
Getting knocked down three or four feet above wasn't hard for the creature but falling being knocked down and at the same time receiving the boulder Swordbeam angered it. The Spirit Colossal Rat sprang back to it's feet and made a roar to the sky. it is completely enraged. Suddenly bones cracking sounds could be heard from the Spirit Colossal Rats body as it increases in size.
"Shit, it's burning its life force to evolve! What do we do now?!" Flash who was facing the demon creature felt pressure building up by the Giant rat's growth.
The gap between the Servant Class and Warrior Level is as different as day and night, and for demon creature it is incredibly hard to level up just like humans. Burning one's life force doesn't mean necessarily leveling up but more like sacrificing your life span for temporary strength.
This method of increasing in rank is very dangerous for any living being. Burning one's life force for the increase of one level will leave you with only one-fourth of your life span. Sometimes you die immediately once the energy is expended. Any living being that burns its life force only do this in a life and death situation, even for humans.
"We can't let it do that!" Ben who hadn't shown up since the beginning shouted.
"Everyone, give it all you got!" Flash commanded, then everyone except Kate came out of hiding and unleashed their most powerful attack on the Spirit Colossal Rat.
Slash Slash Slash... BOOM!
Different colours of multiple energy Swordbeam went straight to the evolving Spirit Colossal Rat creating a loud explosion. Dust, sand and snow was raised pervading the entire air. Ben swiftly spread his mind power as he was less than ten metres away, he found out that it was no longer there.
"Guys watch out, it is no longer there, it just have escaped the attack!" Mia who had her domain on didn't sense the creature where it was.
"Gotcha. " Ben mumbled as he found the demon creature crouching not far from where Vanessa stood, about to give a deadly blow.
Ben raised his hand to face the sky with a grabbing gesture towards the Spirit Colossal Rat. Four ice chains thicker and stronger than that used on Parker rose from the frozen floor, it then wrapped themselves round the Spirit Colossal Rat without making the slightest body contact, not even it's fur. The Giant rat was completely unaware of the chains all over its body.
Vanessa was totally in the dark in what was about to befall her. Ben was watching every move, waiting for it to fall into a trap it set by itself. Well that's how Ben sees it.
"Vanessa, when I tell you to move, move back as much as possible okay!" although the dust prevented one from seeing the other their voices could still be heard.
"Okay, I hear you!" she shouted back.
The Spirit Colossal Rat sprang forth into the air without realizing it has a already been compromised.
"MOVE!!" Ben shouted at her direction. Hearing his shout she put every ounce of energy to the sole of her feet and jumped.
As though they had life of its own, the ice chains wrapped around the Giant rat, dragging it down with a lot of force to it. It's claws would have swiped two inches deep into Vanessa's neck if she hadn't jumped. That attack was actually meant to smash her head to meat paste. Despite not being more than one get above the ground it landed with a heavy thud.
"Attack again!!!"
