Chương 160: C160

Palino stood in the military camp, his gaze fixed on the battlefield through his Mystic Code Lens. As he watched, he couldn't help but chuckle to himself. "The castle's barrier won't hold for much longer," he said to his comrade. "It seems they're preparing to make their final stand. Give the order for the cavalry to prepare to attack."

The adjutant turned to Palino and asked, "General, do you think there's a chance they might abandon the castle and retreat?"

Palino shook his head confidently. "No, they have nowhere to retreat to," he replied. "Camelot is behind them."

Just then, Palino's attention was drawn back to the battlefield as the castle gate in Caerleon began to slowly open. He pointed excitedly at this. "Look, they've begun their final stand."

...

The air was filled with the deafening sounds of explosions as wyverns and griffins flew across the sky and monstrous creatures roamed the land. It was as if the world was coming to an end.

In the midst of the chaos, creaking sounds could be heard as the heavy castle gates slowly opened.

Shirou strode forward, leading the charge with Caliburn in hand, his troops following behind him in a steady march. To his left, Gawain and Gaheris marched in lockstep, while Artoria and Tristan marched to his right. Behind them, a vast army of humans stood ready to join the fight.

Despite the determination etched on their faces, a somber atmosphere hung over the group, casting a desolate atmosphere over the area.

Shirou gazed fearlessly at the sea of beasts before him and shouted, "Are you afraid?!"

The army responded with a resounding "No!", their voices shaking the heavens and earth.

"Forward without fear of the mountain of blades, never to retreat from the sea of fire," Shirou declared, his voice ringing out with conviction. "We fight to the death in every battle!"

The army took up his cry, their voices echoing his words in unison. They shouted loudly, "Forward without fear of the mountain of blade, never to retreat from the sea of fire. We fight to the death in every battle!"

Despite the absence of military discipline, their voices were surprisingly uniform, as if infused with a spiritual belief that shattered all fear. It was as if their shared determination and resolve had forged a bond that could not be broken.

With Caliburn raised high, he bellowed, "Magi on the wall, listen up! Blast the beasts and clear the way!"

The magi on the wall, led by Morgan, responded with a powerful chant, their voices rising together in a harmonious symphony as they formed a large-scale ritual.

As the ritual reached completion, it continuously extracted True Ether from the surrounding nature, gradually forming a faint white light at its center - a light no larger than a thumbnail. But in the blink of an eye, this small light began to expand at an alarming rate, swelling into a massive ball of light that spanned nearly five meters in diameter.

With the incantation on her lips and a sweeping motion of her hand, Morgan unleashed the ball of light upon the sea of beasts, striking them with the force of a divine power.

"Boom, boom, boom!"

The beasts were instantly blasted into pieces by the terrifying magical power, their bodies torn apart and scattered across the battlefield. In the aftermath, all that remained was a layer of scorched earth emitting white smoke, a testament to the incredible force that had been unleashed.

Morgan cast aside all of her ritual tools and instead channeled the power of the Island through her body. In an instant, True Ether was extracted from the surrounding space and combined with countless amounts of earth, forming a group of giants of varying heights, ranging from five to ten meters tall. There were approximately fifty of them in total!

With their massive bodies, the giants charged into battle against the beasts on the scorched earth. Rocks and flesh flew through the air as they clashed, the sound of their collision echoing across the battlefield. The stench of blood permeated the air, a reminder of the violence and chaos that surrounded them.

Merlin raised his staff and began to chant, weaving together a series of twelve magic circles that surrounded him. With each circles, he unleashed a powerful blast of Ether that cut through the beasts like a hot knife through butter.

Then, with a light tap of his staff on the ground, a beautiful sea of flowers bloomed across the scorched earth in front of the army, masking the heat of battle with their delicate beauty.

Taking a deep breath, Shirou turned to Tristan and said, "Take command, Tristan!"

With a nod of understanding, Tristan took hold of the fake holy sword that Shirou had given him and raised it high. "Charge!" he bellowed, leading the charge forward into battle.

...

As the sun rose, its rays illuminated the blades of the army's weapons, causing them to sparkle brilliantly. The ground trembled under the weight of thousands of soldiers as they charged forward, their iron-clad hooves pounding the earth.

It was a battlefield of humans versus beasts.

Lamorak watched as the soldiers streamed out from under the castle, feeling a sense of sadness wash over him. "How many of them do you think will make it back?"

"They are all heroes of Britain!" Kay replied solemnly.

Tristan gave orders to Gawain and Gaheris to lead the infantry and form a fan-shaped defensive formation in order to stabilize the front line. At the same time, he directed the archers to shoot arrows into the sky.

At the end of the Age of the Gods, human physical prowess was several times greater than that of modern humans. The soldiers who fought in battles, particularly those who fought against the northern kings during Vortigern's invasion, were especially fierce.

While their physical abilities might not have been on par with those of individual beasts, they were still able to fight tenaciously with weapons in hand.

Tristan and Gawain were both former leading generals of their kingdom, possessing vast experience and having seen their fair share of battlefields and bloodshed. They were skilled commanders with outstanding leadership abilities. The soldiers who followed Shirou were not inexperienced novices either; they had their own unique ways of dealing with beasts using their weapons.

Despite the fact that Shirou's army had only recently been formed, they were all battle-hardened veterans, which meant that they had no problem facing their fears in the midst of combat.

The main issue at hand was that this army consisted of soldiers from various kingdoms, which meant that their coordination was not uniform.

Fortunately, Tristan and Gawain were exceptional leaders who possessed the art of leading soldiers. Although they could not entirely eradicate this problem, they were able to fix the problems and unify the soldiers' attacks.

Shirou unleashed his Evil.

Projecting hundreds of high-grade Noble Phantasms had depleted much of his magical energy, leaving the Evil somewhat weakened, yet still quite potent.

He hurled the jet-black Evil and the thick, blood-colored Evil into the enemy's formation, causing them to meld together and form two towering giants that were each around ten meters tall. Although one was completely black and the other was entirely blood-red, both exuded a malevolent and cursed aura.

Onlookers gazed at the two towering giants, wondering why their king possessed such terrifying creations. However, due to the presence of an external enemy, many assumed that the giants were Mystic Codes given to him by Morgan.
