Chương 11: Nothing's Free

*urg* 'What happened? Oh yeah I got trashed and' I slowly come to with an ache and a groan before the memory of what happened fully hits. Shivers wrack my spine and I swear I can still feel the knife sawing me open.

'But if that's the case where am I?' I slowly try to feel if my limbs are still attached and if I can move anything. I can also feel that I have pants and what feels like bandages on my chest.

'Well I'm not crippled which is awesome. Hate to think my adventure would end before it even starts but who saved me.' Now knowing I can move, I look around and see a small room with a cabinet and window but nothing else. Getting up I try to make sense of everything.

'Okay, so whoever, saved me they probably aren't gonna sell me, the room's too nice for that and no chains. Going by everything I've read this fits the kind, poor savior schtick. Now going with that how long have I been asleep? Those cuts felt like it went deep so unless someone did some healing magic they should have taken weeks to heal and I feel fine.'

I try to be stealthy and crack the door open a bit to see if I can make anything out. There's a short hallway with doors on the side and the end with the end one open. Not seeing anything from here I figure you can't act scaredy cat around your likely savior so I go to the open door to see if I can find someone.

Out the door I find what looks like a fantasy hospital front: counter, waiting area, and a small swinging door blocking off where I'm standing. Guess I did get lucky.

"Hello anyone there!" I figure they probably didn't leave me alone if they saved me and I should at least thank them.

"Just a minute!" I hear a call from behind another door and soon a beast man walks out.

"Hello what would you. HUH! How the hell are you up walking! Those wounds should have taken at least a day or two even with the potions." The beast girl now that I get a closer look at her is quite nice looking though the look of shock on her face doesn't help.

"I don't really know about that, though I do seem to heal a bit faster than normal."

"A bit faster? *humph* Most people only heal that quickly when they get to level two. Hope Lord Miach didn't use one of the expensive potions." I don't quite catch the last half, but the fact that I regenerate as fast as someone at level two is a bit of a shock. That sounds like either the horse or dog talisman's ability, but last I checked I didn't have any talismans.

"Well I'm assuming you are the one who saved me. If so thank you and I would like to pay you for treatment but my money on hand was stolen and the rest of it is at my room at the inn which has probably taken my stuff when I didn't show up."

'Wait, CRAP! The Pan'ku box! I hope they didn't sell it or try to do anything with it. I haven't messed with it too much but if they manage to open it and release a demon all hell will break loose. The girl must have noticed my sudden panic.

"Don't worry you've only been asleep for a couple hours since Lord Miach brought you here. If you can walk then you should be able to get your stuff from the inn. So no skipping out on the payment you hear!"

"Oh Great, that's a relief. Don't worry I'll pay off what I owe, but I'm nearly broke so I don't know if I can pay you just yet. I am willing to work it off though." Maybe if I'm lucky she can give me an arrangement like Bertha did.

"Good, the treatment is 30,000 vali." She grins like the devil.

"WHAT! What kind of treatment costs that much!"

"Hey we used an expensive potion to heal you up or do you think its normal to heal up that quick! Not to mention the bandages, bed, and dragging your sorry but here!" Hate to admit it but she has a point, and my conscience twitches on things like this. Though if she keeps going after me like some black market loan shark I might just run for it."

"I don't have that kind of money."

"Don't worry we'll give you a loan and with your level I'm sure you can pay it off in no time."

"I don't have a level. I couldn't find a familia."

"WHAT! Nobody heals that quick without a blessing! Don't lie to me!"

"It's true! I couldn't find a familia! I don't know why I heal this quick!" As the argument picks up there's a jingle at the door we both miss till someone interrupts.

"What's with all the noise? Naaza you know we can't treat our customers like that."

"Ah Lord Miach! I'm sorry for shouting but this guy says he doesn't have a falna even though he heals faster than most adventurers. He just wants to skip out on paying you even though you used an expensive potion to save him" The girl, Naaza, shrinks like a scolded puppy at first but picks up when she starts badmouthing me.

I turn around to face the voice and see a god standing there calmly with some bags in hand. Something about him is rather calming which lets me get my bearings from the shouting match.

"I'm not lying. I really don't have a falna, and I don't know why I heal quicker."

"Hmmm, It feels like you're telling the truth about not lying, but you also aren't telling the truth."

"Huh?"

"Let's calm down now. Still it is quite amazing that you are up already. Most adventurers would be down till tomorrow at least even with the potion I used. And Naaza, I did not use an expensive potion."

"Huh then how did he get up so quick? You said his cuts went all the way to the bone."

"Indeed, but let's ask our guest. I'm sure he can solve this confusion."
