I examined some of the new weapons I had gotten from my previous rewards, there was a couple decent spears, a couple of gun blades which seemed to be pretty good I might be able to use them as regular swords if need be. Then there was a massive stone axe it had a sharp blade but I doubt it would last very long. A hammer would probably be more preferable so i wouldn't have to worry about the sharpness, but still this thing could take some damage, I had no idea what kind of stone it was made from but I felt the weight of it. It was way more than 300 pounds like the buster sword, it gave me a bit of oof just holding the massive axe.
"Maybe this would hold up better than I thought?" however the incredible weight would mean my swings would be slow and i don't want that. "But i could probably increase my strength using this thing."
As for Cid's spears i couldn't really tell if it was a good spears or not, like i mentioned before he was more a mechanic than he was a fighter. His profession would be Airship pilot/ mechanic.
Shame I don't have a proper blacksmith, I seem to be getting gunsmiths. Squall was a bit of a gunsmith and could make various bullets and repair his gunblades slighty but that was it. He didn't make them he just used them, he made bullets though when he couldn't buy them.
Putting up the weapons I grab Boko's tag. I have classes first then I'll summon him. I'll see if I could pick up a couple of feeding and watering troughs too, maybe some hay for him.
Of course I don't have to feed and water him as I could just unsummon him but that would be pretty shitty, just make him do a bunch of hard work and not let him eat or anything.
"Hel, I'm headed off for the day." I call out to my adorable goddess.
"Okay, be safe." She says happily.
Heading off towards the guild today Rose just tests me on the knowledge I have so far and goes over some basics. She also introduces the plants and ores that I could gather if seen.
After about 2 hours of studying I head outside and summon Boko.
"Alright buddy, let's go get you some equipment. Honestly I'm pretty jealous." I laugh giving him his tag and hopping up on his back.
"Wark!"
I point him towards the Ganesha family Coliseum and he rushes off. It's honestly nice having a steed.
Arriving, there are already people waiting and chatting excitedly. I recognize the man from yesterday in the group.
Hopping off Boko I head over with the large bird.
"They were all rather excited to see your creature." He says with a laugh shaking my hand.
"I can tell." I grin as the admire the big bird.
"So what all will you be wanting for him?" Paul asks as another person approaches.
"If you could give me a price on a cart to take into the dungeon and hook him up to, a proper saddle and reins for 2 people, some saddle bags, also I could do with a watering trough and feeding trough." I request as the man write everything down.
"We have some troughs on hand you can purchase, everything else will need to be custom made." Paul says.
"That's fine. Got a price range for me?" I ask.
Theres a bit of talk between the two people. "Everything in total shouldn't go past 30,000 valis." Paul says.
"Sheesh, being a tamed is expensive business." Luckily I have enough on hand, I pull it from my pouch and count it out still having a couple thousand left over. "Could you have the troughs delivered to my familia house?"
"Of course." Paul says passing the money over to the worker. "Just need to know where to take it and we can have it delivered today."
I give them the address of the house and he writes it down.
"Alright just need to do a couple measurements and a strength test to see what the big boy can pull then we can get to work, shouldn't take more than 2 weeks to have everything put together." Paul says. "Well the cart at least, saddle and saddle bags should only take a couple of days. Sorry the measurements are going to take a couple of hours though, need to make sure everything is properly drawn up." Paul explains.
"That's fine, I'm free for the day anyway." I tell him. "Luckily I brought a book to read."
"Well we will get to work so just find a place to sit." Paul says patting my shoulder as the various leatherworkers start taking measurements and drawing up designs. A few of them feeding Boko and giving him pats making sure he isn't uncomfortable. They know how irritable a monster can become if annoyed so they are doing their best to keep the big bird happy as none of them want to experience those sharp talons.
Meanwhile I was brought a chair to sit on and I'm reading over my magical gunsmithing book trying to pick up some ideas.
Not just going to leave Boko here while I head to the dungeon. After all the big bird is my responsibility and I don't know if he would get upset by all the poking and prodding. He seems to be enjoying the attention and the Ganesha family are quite good with animals so I don't think I have much to worry about, but it always pays to be cautious.
They have to measure certain sensitive parts such as his mouth and wings for the saddle and reins set up and occasionally come over to ask me some questions I answer to the best of my ability. I pay a bit extra to have the cart adjusted to be quick attach and quick release so he can take it off and put it on by himself and join in on combat with ease and not be stuck to the cart if we get attacked.
I don't feel like testing if he comes back to life after being killed and resummoned so I would prefer him able to defend himself. I would love to get him some basic armor but sadly I can't even get myself new armor.
